I think this cheevo is completely random. Every time I came across the asteroid describe I would mine but no luck and eventually this face of gozu finally dropped when I destroyed a virax ship. Yet the antimatter shard I found in an asteroid when the other cheevo solution said to find it in a virax ship lol

Also I have just come across a mission on the mission board which requires me to defeat some virax ships to collect a face of Gozu. The missing was actually called the face of Gozu.
Unfortunately i can't say if this would have given the cheevo or not but it's worth looking out for and hopefully some one can confirm this works too.

If you find one early on but it's too high risk just log it in your missions and keep it until you're better equipped. This saves you having to farm enemies or look for certain asteroid clusters.
