I did the first race in Hot Sand (Single Event) with the expensive drift car that costs 28k. You can string combos in turns so that you keep the drift going. Rapidly hitting the brake so that you don't drift off the track. After a 7 second drift achievement will unlock. I haven't tried the cheaper car but I assume it works well to.
