I would recommend Leonhart, Ladius, Borgnine, Thoma, Duran and Winfield (or Ellis if you are struggling with battles) for this generation. Mage Duran has an F for growth in VIT which is a big hindrance to raising it, and with only a few generations left, you can find his HP lagging behind. This is why you have been holding onto those VIT up and HP up items rather than using them in previous generations; try to get Duran up somewhere near Thoma's level. You can also use your INT up items here and/or save some VIT up and HP up items for when you receive Dyshana in generation 5.

For the bride from the generation, I would suggest Silvi. Though it leaves Rex with a C in both Str and VIT, he has the Float ability, and you will still easily have massive STR by the Boundary Plane. Furthermore, Rex will end up as your best character/main tank with great physical and magic defence and the ability to avoid some directional effects.
