How to unlock the The Combine achievement in Record of Agarest War Zero - Definitive Guide

Wait until late game to do this. MAG+999 takes one combine, and ATK+999 takes 4 combines (yes, 4, it sucks). You will likely get this while making enough MAG/ATK for your entire party. If not, go to one of the first battle points, you should be able to get them to 1 HP in one hit with merciful strike, and then immediately use capture on them. Put merciful strike/capture on as many of your characters as possible and go to town.

You can only have a max of 11 monsters at a time.

This is easier to do by catching monsters in the very first few battle points, use Merciful Strike and Capture. It's also wise to equip as many Luck + items and skills on the person capturing.

Once you have some beasts, go to the Monster Guild (not available until the 4th or 5th town) and simply combine monsters.

In the Monster Guild there will be an option to Combine monsters. Any 2 monsters WILL combine with each other, combining random monsters may give you the same monster, a weaker monster or a slightly stronger monster. There are few fusions that will give you anything notable. You can go about getting this trophy in 2 ways:

  1. Capture any 100 monsters and just combine them all with each other one by one.
  2. Wait until Generation 2 when you want to grind out the Active Skills ATK+999 and MAG+999. If you are going to fill up ALL the slots of your main party then you will perform well over 100 combines by the time you are done. Please refer to the roadmap for the combination for the Active Skills.

As tedious as this achievement may seem, anyone aiming for all the achievements in this game will likely obtain this naturally. Late in the game, you will be able to combine monsters for ATK+999 and MAG+999 active items, which require monster combinations to make. To save some time:

Mandrake Root + Medusa = Dryad (Trade for monster weapon which converts to MAG+999)

White Dragon + Ring Dragon = Silver Dragon
White Dragon + Silver Dragon = Yellow Dragon
Ring Dragon + Living Dead = Fafnir
Yellow Dragon + Fafnir = Arc Dragon (Trade for monster weapon which converts to ATK+999)

Mandrake Root and Living Dead can be found at the location "Tyranny of God."
White Dragon can be found in the Hidden Dugeon Fenstermacher Plain at "Noshieru." Ring Dragon can be found in the same dungeon at "Coltorti." Medusa can also be found in the same dungeon at the beginning battles as well as "Coltorti."

*Not recommended for Normal Mode, as items do not transfer.
