Shooting Star is weak to water and has a flame attack - this means the easiest way to beat him is to use your flame/salamander spirit and spam undine (the blue spirit magic). You should have enough magic to defeat him since you can easily replenish by getting hit with his fireball attacks or jumping into the lava.
