How to unlock the Big Game Hunter achievement in ReCore - Definitive Guide

Each of the currently available (four) frames has its own set of hunting challenges, which are essentially various destroy tasks. I decided to start this way later than I should have, and have already completed many of the challenges. I started with what I had currently available, and with help from others, will hopefully make this a complete list.

You will also be required to complete these if collecting all Blueprints, as each challenge will reward Blueprints the first time around. After completing all challenges, you can complete them again, but will only receive crafting materials.

K-9 (6 Challenges):
• Destroy 5 Enemy Corebots with Blue Lethal Attacks: Natural progression, any enemy Corebot will do, Lethal is used by pressing cn_Y
• Destroy 10 Red K-9s: Natural progression
• Destroy 10 Blue K-9s: Natural progression
• Destroy 10 Red K-9s and 10 Blue K-9s: Natural progression
• Instant Extract 10 K-9 Cores: Natural progression
• Destroy 5 Purple K-9s with a K-9: The Cradle, beside House of Steel dungeon entrance
SP-DR (7 Challenges):
• Get a 15x Combo Score: See solution for Master Juggler (achieve combo of 40) for best spots
• Destroy 10 Enemy Corebots with Yellow Lethal Attacks: Natural progression, any enemy Corebot will do, Lethal is used by pressing cn_Y
• Destroy 10 Red SP-DRs: Natural progression
• Instant Extract 5 SP-DR Cores: Natural progression; sometimes you can get this on one of the Red SP-DRs outside of Joule's Crawler.
• Destroy 10 Blue and 10 yellow SP-DRs: Natural progression
• Destroy 10 Rare SP-DRs: [What's a rare SP-DR?] Fast travel to The Cradle (beside House of Steel). Exit the pipe going left, into the open, and an Orange SP-DR will spawn
• Destroy 5 Purple SP-DRs using a SP-DR: Fast travel to Kai's Crawler (The Cradle), and head up the path towards the North-West area
AP-3 (7 Challenges):
• Extract 5 AP-3 Cores: Natural Progression
• Destroy 10 Blue AP-3s: Natural Progression
• Destroy 10 Red AP-3s with Red Lethal Attacks: Natural progression, any enemy Corebot will do, Lethal is used by pressing cn_Y
• Destroy 10 Blue AP-3s: Natural progression
• Destroy 15 Blue AP-3s and 15 Yellow AP-3s: If I recall correctly, House of Steel provided each of these colours in the first room (please correct me if wrong)
• Instant Extract 10 AP-3 Cores: First room in House of Steel. Four AP-3s will spawn, and you can instant extract one of them. Then return to crawler and come back.
• Destroy 5 green AP-3s using an AP-3: Base of tower in The Cradle after first getting Seth, near Kai's Crawler
FL1-R (7 Challenges):
• Destroy 5 FL1-Rs: Natural progression
• Destroy 5 FL1-Rs with Lethal Attacks: Natural progression, any enemy Corebot and any Lethal will do, Lethal is used by pressing cn_Y
• Destroy 5 Yellow FL1-Rs: Acid Marsh dungeon
• Instant Extract 5 FL1-R Cores: Natural progression, I found many opportunities for this during the tower climb
• Destroy 5 FL1-Rs with Lethal Attacks (confirmed): Natural progression, any enemy Corebot and any Lethal will do, Lethal is used by pressing cn_Y
• Destroy 5 Blue FL1-Rs and 20 Yellow FL1-Rs: Acid Marsh dungeon
• Destroy 5 Purple FL1-Rs using a FL1-R: In The Warren, next to net of respawning Red Corebytes

The Acid Marsh dungeon is a good place for all of the FL1-R challenges except the last one.
I'll continue to update as new information is found. Thanks (and credit) to Karachi King, Gizmo2k, Calex dEUS, skylinesend, Cuthred and JonoTheLad for their input thus far.

Hi,

I just finished doing all the Hunting Challenges for the needed frames. I didn't followed this guide from the beginning as I was just playing normally, discovering by myself. Then I used this guide but some challenges were naturally done, so I'll just talk about the couples I've done (generally the last two of each category).

All described challenges were right, except two, for me. Maybe an update came out since the last time this guide was updated?

• Destroy 5 FL1-Rs with Lethal Attacks (confirmed): Natural progression, any enemy Corebot and any Lethal will do, Lethal is used by pressing Y
I had to destroy 20 FL1-Rs with Lethal Attacks, not 5. Here's my screenshot (it's in French, but easily understandable):

https://i.goopics.net/0juhkb.png

• Destroy 5 Blue FL1-Rs and 20 Yellow FL1-Rs: Acid Marsh dungeon
I had to destroy 20 Blue FL1-Rs, not 5. The Yellow FL1-Rs' number was correct. Here's my screenshot:

https://i.goopics.net/walc6h.png

I hope this will help for this guide update.

I know it's not necessary for this achievement, but I can't find the Hunting Challenges for the T8-NK on the Internet, does anyone know what they are and where to find the needed targets? Thank you.

A purple K-9 spawns in The Cradle, next to the entrance to House of Steel dungeon. A purple SP-DR spawns to the west of Kai's crawler (on the path to the big circular area).

Oh and there's a green AP-3 at the base of the large tower in The Cradle (the one you climb when you first get Seth).

https://1drv.ms/i/s!Ah_fJJ5sL7iIlHPT1P9BcG5z6XF1 for the exact spot of Purple K-9s

Don't forget to bring your dog ;)

Think this is after the SP-DR you have listed, buy my current one is "Destroy 10 Rare SP-DRs" would appear to be harder than just 10 red ones :/

Thanks for the info guys. I've put this on hold for myself because of the whole glitched achievements issue. There's an update coming next week which should hopefully fix these issues.

Then I can get back to this again.

@Gizmo2k: I wonder what constitutes a rare SP-DR?

By ChknFingrs on 01 Oct 2016 19:04
It's from a certain level up, possibly 20 or 25 upwards, higher chance of the corebot being rare? Orange, Purple and Green corebots are generally always rares though. I've currently got a blue rare core in my inventory before I fast travel back to the Trawler, that's lvl26 so that's all I'm going on there. The Orange core is rare and it's level 25.

Also, back on OP, there are only 5 purple K9s needed so you can remove the ? after it :)

Thanks for clarifying Gizmo, I already had some progress on that and wasn't sure if it was 5 that were required.

Disregard all that about rare cores. I have oranges that are common and a level 7 red, so I'm thinking, it's random? ie, no fukken clue.

Thanks Gizmo2k, appreciate it. Hopefully tomorrow's update will fix the achievements and I can come back to this game again.

List of all challenges is here http://ie.ign.com/wikis/recore/Hunting_Challenges

I'm currently working on these for the architect achievement as they are the last blueprints I need ...... I hope. So I'll post locations if I find them.

Thanks Calex! Do you know if that's a complete list? If so, then FL1-R would appear to be the easiest, only requiring 3 challenges. That's half the battle too, and while you might get most done by playing, it's the grind after and finding what you need for the challenges that make this more difficult.

they have 5 each then they loop and instead of a blueprint for finishing one you get crafting materials. Tested on the K-9 one. Didn't spot the FL only had 3 so I'll add those when I do them.

Actually checking I can add the 4th or maybe it's the 5th FL-R now:
Destroy 5 Blue and 20 yellow FL-R1s

The Acid Marsh dungeon is a good place for all of the FL1-R challenges except the last one. The only purple one I have found is in the Warren, next to the net of respawning red Corebytes.

Thanks Calex dEUS for the links. The IGN one is not complete while the Gamefaqs one looks to be, but might have a duplicate challenge for the FL1-R as I've noted in the solution.

Also looks like each has 7 challenges, except Mack with 6 challenges if the lists are correct.

Thanks skylinesend for the input, I will add that after lunch.

on the AP-3 you should change "destroy 10 red AP-3 with red lethal" to just "destroy 10 AP-3 with red lethal attacks"

There is also a Purple K-9 in Shifting Sands southeast of the crawler you find Duncan in, northeast across the bridge from the fast travel.

Maybe this changed with Definitive Edition, but you don't have to go back to crawler when grinding in challenge dungeons. Pause the game, select fast travel, then you have the option of going back to crawler, or restarting the dungeon.

Confirmed for those just now getting to this game (in definitive edition). Kills are saved immediately and you can just hit the menu button --> Y for "fast travel" --> "restart dungeon". Rinse & repeat

Most come naturally but when I checked it looked like my FL1-R was stuck in an early one and I realised they changed some which makes it a lot slower for that frame. I'm playing on the Definitive version so it may be limited to that version only (or maybe previous people had made kills before checking).
The changes are:
FL1-R 3: Destroy 15 Yellow FL1-Rs (instead of 5)
FL1-R 5: Destroy 15 FL1-Rs with Lethal Attacks (instead of 5)
FL1-R 6: Destroy 20 (instead of 5) Blue FL1-Rs and 20 Yellow FL1-Rs

You can complete AP-3 Challenge 1-6 without returning to crawler with an easy trick that save you a lot of time and loading screen. Like the solution above say best place is House of Steel first room there are 2 blue & 2 yellow AP-3.

The trick is after you clean the room go to the next and jump of the edge, after respawning go back to the first room and kill your self with the electric ball in this room. After a single loading screen you start in front that room. Important: You need to jump in the second room of the edge before killing your self to save your kills

This didn't work for me. Besides, restarting the dungeon and running back to that first room is faster.

Menu (map), Y (fast travel), Restart Dungeon

You can see the Hunting Challenges in the “Objectives” part of the Pause menu. The achievement will unlock once you complete all of them for one of the Corebots. Most of these will come as you play the game but some will have to be farmed as the enemies are only in 1 or 2 locations.

Here are a list of spots for some of the harder ones to find and the unique coloured frames:

  • Purple SP-DR: North West from Kai's Crawler in The Cradle (in a narrow valley)
  • Purple K-9: North West section of Shifting Sands go across the broken bridge.
  • Also In the Cradle next to the NW Dungeon (House of Steel) (thanks to SpinelesS)
  • Green AP-3: South from Kai's Crawler in The Cradle (near large building)
  • Purple FL-1R: In The Warren in the room with the red barrier that rebuilds itself.
  • AP-3 Instant Extractions: Best spot I found for this was. Go to southern most Fast Travel station in The Cradle. Go down & left into broken passageway section. Jump over barrier and stay on the bottom ledge, kill the 2 red K-9s with charged shot. You should get an Instant Extraction for the AP-3. (Most times)
  • FL-1R Instant Extractions: Best spot I found was a group of 3 yellow FL-1R, half way down the west wall of the Shifting Sands desert. As soon as they popped up I'd send my corebot to lethal kill the first 2. Then I'd rush in and get an instant extraction on the 3rd.
  • Blue FL-1R: There are two at the start of the Acid Marsh arena battle.

During the game, open the menu and select the "Tasks" tab. The task for each pet will be displayed at the bottom of the window. Complete a series of all tasks for a specific pet and the achievement is yours!
