I have unlocked all cards but one set (fauna of North America) isn't ticked as completed so this might be my issue. Has this happened to anyone else?

Which general store? I’m in chapter 3 and no store will allow me to sell cigs back. Or is that just how it is? So I have to smoke the cigs to deplete the stock to buy more?

@BShick07, You need to discard them from your bag (hold Y).

@count023 @Go+On+Thome same thing happened to me. But the achievement unlocked when i went to the post office and mailed off the cards.

This achievement is glitched for me too. I've collected a set of cigarette cards, sent them away, received the reward and it hasn't popped.

Edit: It unlocked for me after FULLY completing the cave markings quest. You need to go back to speak to Francis after submitting them all to finish it off.

Have just looked on YouTube and seen they suggest to buy the cigarettes through the catalogue in the general store. A much faster way to do this is to go to the Fence in Van Horn Trading Post. The premium cigarettes are on the shelf and re-spawn infinitely. Just pick two packs up, open satchel, discard the cigarettes and repeat. I went from 49 cards to all 144 in about 10-15 minutes. Having high honor also saves you a bit of cash, although by chapter three that's slightly less of an issue.

Space, it's because the latest item in your bag is often a card, not the cigarettes. Because when you buy a pack, you get a card.

Anyway, you'll get about $900 by completing this cig card strand so even if you buy them you come out on top.

Worked like a charm! No glitch.

The guide good be a lot better if you included some more general tips:
- The “Good cigarettes” are called “Premium cigarettes”
- You can buy cigatettes a lot faster by directly buying the cigattes from the shell instead of Browsing the Catalogue
- You can’t sell the sets untill you unlocked the mission mentioned by @Bazroy99

Another achievement glitched on me, fuck this game

Found this one was just easier with the rock carvings while I was also grabbing dreamcatchers, legendaries, and bones around the map. The cigarettes were taking too long for me.

Same glitch here, gathered the cigarettes by this method - sent them, got the reward and the achievement didn’t pop.

Used the cigarette car tip. Bought the premium packs in a general store and after around $900 collected all 12 of 12 - 144 in total. Sent away, got all rewards back bot no cheevo poppin. :-(

I spent over 1200$ and didn't get them all. I got a lot of doubles and triples - I even got 5 copies of a single card.

UPDATE: it seems when i picked up random cards in game, they would always be ones that i needed. So that was good. And when i went back to the general store a second time, i got the last 10 i was missing out of the 16 that i bought. Only a few copies that time.

Also I would like to point out it’s probably worth double checking the cigarette card stacks in your inventory and counting them up before sending, rather than relying on the compendium.

Don't forget to send all the decks in the mail at a post office. The cheevo will pop afterward with all complete.

Thanks @BusyRich, get it very easily with your method. I spent almost $1,000, but nevermind, I sold the doubles I had and a couple of old items and it almost came back to the amount I had first.

Your suggestion should be a solution by itself, people don't often read the comments, so they can miss your point.

I don't have the option to mail any sets of cards at a post office. what am I doing wrong?

This works, but I think many of you are lucky because it was more like $3000 and 1.5 hours. I was able to re-coup some of my losses by selling the duplicates.

How do you sell your doubles? The general store won't let me sell them.

You can sell your doubles to a fence.

I would also like to add that you have to send the full sets in the mail to get the achievement. I had all 144, but it didn't pop for me until I went to the post office and mailed them to the guy that will pay you for them.

Important note: if you go by Rock carvings, it's needed to send all of them from post office to quest giver after gathering all 10. Then it's needed to wait a day to collect answer and invitation to Francis Sinclair house. Then it's needed to actually make a visit there for achievement to pop. Basically this means completion of Geology for Beginners quest

Can you save, spend all the money on the cigarette cards to get the achievement and then load to get your money back?

very helpfull , this method saved me a lot of time the only drawback was that i was a bit unlucky and spent around 1k on premium cigaretts.
Also a method that i used that might be helpful, was that instead of buying them form the catalogue i was buying them from the shelf and every time i bought one pack i smoked one cigarett so i could have space to buy more cigaretts.

Do I have to interact with a character to initiate this? Or do you just get the option to post the cigarette cards once you have collected them all?

The Stranger who you need to interact with to initiate the cigarette card mission is found at Flatneck Station in The Heartlands.

Just because your Compendium list you having all 144 cards doesn't mean you have all 144 cards in your possession at one time. Say you find your first card and the compendium will now list you at 1 out 144 cards. Now if you sell this card, your compendium will still list you at 1 out 144 cards regardless if you have that card in your procession or not.

I noticed that when I came to discarded all my cigarettes, I would highlight them in my satchel and hit the Y button to discard all, but it would instead discard something else at random. This has happened to me on 4 occasions during the whole process of buying all 144 cards from store, on one of these occasions I noticed it discarded my fauna of North America number 10 card instead of my cigarettes. When this card got discarded, I checked my compendium and noticed it didn't reduce the total tally for cigarettes cards collected. I believe this is the bug that is happening to everyone who are not getting the Achievement. Its really easy to miss if not paying attention.


To unlock this achievement by going the collecting card route, you have to post all 144 cards. That's 12 cards per set times 12. Before you mail all 12 sets of cards for achievement, open your satchel and go to furthest tab to right of screen using RB or LB. Now check each of the 12 sets of cards by highlighting and selecting A to open, and make sure each one has 12 of 12 cards. If each set do have 12 of 12, then you are good to mail and you should pop achievement straight after mailing the 12th set. If you find any set that doesn't have 12 of 12, then its easy to work out which numbered card is missing, and just go back to store and keep buying cards until you get the missing card.

Sigh, I wish I hadn't started this one.
I've spent over $3000 and it has taken me well over 3 hours to do, and I'm missing ONE card. Has this happened to anyone else? I wish I'd started another of the collectors tasks instead.
I feel like one of those losers in Vegas standing at a one armed bandit for days. :(

There are two good things though:
- Every time you get a card you haven't got, you get additional deadeye
- All purchases count toward 'Pony Up' (Spend $5000 at stores)

UPDATE
After another frustating 45 minutes of buying cards, I gave up and found a very useful IGN guide that shows the location of every single card on the map. You can work out which card you're missing and reference the list.
As soon as I posted the final set, my achievement popped immediately.

I've completed 3 card sets and turned them in, got the reward, no achievement. You probably have to do the full 144

You have to mail all the card sets in and wait for the rewards to come back.

The Fisher of Fish quest popped this for me, after completion. There are fewer fish than rock paintings etc, and the gear costs less than buying the cards. You can’t finish before the epilogue, though, unlike the card buying option.

Not really its just a side quest.

I collected all of them but only had 11 of 12 pack to send. Sent 11 no achievement. Not sure what happened to my other pack that I collected???? Fuck this game for cheevos!!!!!!!

I reloaded my last save...unfortunately had to buy more packs to get all the cards. Went to the post office but this time I had 12 packs to mail. Saved my game before I mailed all the cards. After I mailed the last set it popped!

This achievement popped as soon as I mailed the final set of cards. You need to mail all twelve sets to get the achievement with the card sets.
