Minigames such as poker or dominoes do not count toward the achievement.

*Many people are saying this achievement is glitched for them and that their progress tracker isn’t changing so in case this happens to you, make a save at least once in every chapter so you’ll be able to go back to that point if nessecary.*

Just leaving this here so a lot of people don't get screwed over. This achievements description is super misleading, what its asking you to do is to complete a companion mission in chapters 2, 3, and 4.

*Update: It has been confirmed that you must do this in one pl aythrough. Going back to a previous save to do one a mission in a chapter you missed will not work.

*Companion activities will not start showing up until after completing the chapter 2 main quest Blessed are the Meeks?.

It only requires one activity for each of those chapters, hence why it is unlocked during chapter 4. The other camps are not required, just the main.

Below are some of the activities you can do during each chapter, shoutout to PowerPyx for finding these out. If some of the missions aren't available (which sometimes show up on your map as white icons) try progressing the story a little more or by sleeping until the next day. if you're going to progress the story however be careful as to not finish the respective chapter.

Chapter 2:

Any Random Gang Member – Dominoes or Poker: sometimes a random gang member sits at the tables and wants to play (mostly in the evening or at night). *TheOatmeal specifies that you need to completely finish the mini games in order for them to count. *you don’t to win the games, they’ll still count as long as you finish them.
Lenny – Five Finger Fillet: sometimes Lenny sits at a table and wants to play Five Finger Fillet (most in the evening or at night).
Javier – Home Robbery: Talk to Javier at camp, he wants to do a home robbery with you in Valentine. This can still be available in Chapter 3.
Charles – Hunting: Talk to Charles at camp, he wants to hunt a Bison with you.

Chapter 3:

Sean – Coach Robbery: Talk to Sean at camp, he wants to rob a Stagecoach.
Bill – Coach Robbery: Talk to Bill at camp, he wants to rob a Stagecoach.
Tilly – Dominoes Minigame: You can play Dominoes with her at camp when she’s sitting at the tables (usually at night).
Javier – Fishing: Talk to Javier at camp, he wants to go fishing.
Kieran – Fishing: Talk to Kieran at camp and go fishing together.
Micah – Five Finger Fillet: You can play the FFF minigame with Micah in camp when he’s sitting at the tables (usually at night).
Javier – Home Robbery: If you haven’t done his robbery in chapter 2, it may show up again in chapter 3.

Chapter 4:

Charles – Bank Robbery: Only available if you have the Deluxe or Ultimate Edition of the game. This is an exclusive bonus mission, not available with Standard Edition of RDR2.
Micah – Coach Robbery: Talk to Micah at camp, he wants to go rob a stagecoach.
Lenny – Coach Robbery: Talk to Lenny at camp, he wants to go rob a stagecoach.
Pearson – Hunting: Talk to Pearson at camp, he wants to go hunting.
Uncle – Robbery: Talk to Uncle at camp, he wants to go steal some cows with you.

I've slept till evening and then Pearson was waiting in Chapter 4. It popped up, finally. Right after I started the game again

@Glass Swim, I noticed when playing yesterday the missons left my log. my tracker was at 33% because I started over after getting the companion bug, & had done one activity on that playthrough. So I guess when I hit ch 3 I'll see if it goes up doing an activity.

The Achievement tracker does show progress for this, 33% should pop up after the first activity you do in every chapter. Try doing an activity with a different NPC. Do you know which one you played with?

Got the progress bar to 33% somehow. Not even sure what activity triggered it, but I'd love to know about a more reliable way. Seems like I'll just continue playing activities in every chaper, until the progress bar decides to jump up again.

I did have Dominos count for me just to clarify that and I did A quiet time right before Blessed are the Meek? So it may be just around that part of the chapter they will start showing up, it may even be before that it just doesn't have a mission pop up until later; and thanks for the heads up about the Five Finger Fillet never ending, I hadn't even thought about that.

I already completed Chapter 2 without doing these. Does it mean I will not be able to get this achievement now? If I load an early Chapter 2 save file, complete a side mission and then load back my current Chapter 3 save and continue playing will it still count?

I’m not sure but what you could do is load your chapter 2 save file then after doing the mission check your progress tracker and see if it goes up to 33% then load back your chapter 3 save and do one to see if it does up to 66%. If it does go up then you should be good but if not then unfortunately you might have to go back.

This achievement's fucked. I went back to a save from chapter 2 and played 5 finger filet with lenny and it didn't pop despite being 66% done. Guess I have to go back 16+ hours if I want this achievement.. So stupid. I hardly saw any companion activities in chapter 2, I guess that's how it can be most easily missed. Can confirm loading up an old save and doing it won't matter, you have to do all 3 in a single playthrough and loading up an old save and doing it won't matter at all because then you'd have to do the other ones in the same playthrough.

I can't get any companion activites to appear in Chapter 4. I'm at the last story mission in that chapter and checked the camp pretty regularly after each 1-2 misssions, but nothing. Also tried walking around the camp for what must be 2 hours now. Loading a save at the beginning of Ch4 (first 2 Dutch missions done) didn't help either.
Poker, Dominoes and Five Finger Filet don't count, the progress tracker is still at 66%.
Any suggestions?

Hm so since you did the other two chapters I would imagine if you loaded a save back in chapter 4 after you beat the game and one spawned than it would count but I can’t confirm that. But if you don’t wanna run that risk then try going around and doing do stranger missions or hunting for animals and come back every so often to see if one spawned. That’s all I could think of to be honest.

In chapter 2, Mary Beth was sitting at the entrance to the camp and we talked about how the world was changing. This increased mine to 33%. I already did 2 (hunting and home robbery) and those did not increase the tracker. I have also not done Blessed Are the Meek?.

I think you need to just be careful and try to do as many as possible and check on the tracker.

I'm coming to the end of chapter 4 and haven't seen a single one spawn. I've been returning to camp after every mission, I also don't have a back up save to go back to, I think I feel a 2nd play through coming

I did the home robbery with Javier and the hunting mission with Charles in Ch 2, but how do I tell if they are complete? They are still listed in my mission log and they still say Javier wants to go rob a home and Charles still wants to hunt a Bison.

@wolfzero01Check your achievement tracker in the Xbox menu, if it’s 33% then you’ll know they counted. If you’re still seeing the quests in your task menu in game then that’s normal, they usually stay there for a while. Same thing for the delivery quests.

But the Tracker doesn't count the acitivities in Chapter 4. Well, I will make a save and hope it pop up later.

If anyone is having trouble with the activities showing up in chapter 4 - while on my main save, I loaded an earlier manual save and then went back and loaded up my main one. Pearson was immediately available to do the hunting mission on the dock near camp.

Seems odd these camp activities aren’t showing for chapter 4. Especially since this is the camp you do the exclusive ultimate edition one on. Seems kind of BS that it’s not available right from the start considering I paid for it.

Dominoes didn't count during Chapter 2, but I got to Chapter 3 and talking to Tilly gave a cutscene that led to a dominoes game. That counted as my Chapter 3 activity.

Just letting everyone know I basically did chapters 2, 3, and part of 4 over from scratch for this dumb ass achievement. Now I can finally progress through the game! I’m happy to be everyone’s guinea pig and confirm loading up old saves won’t work if you missed this early.

Edit: For those who have the same issue... So I reloaded a chapter 2 save and blitzed back to chapter 4, doing one activity in each chapter. Did bison hunting with Charles in 2 and fishing with Javier in 3. After the Bronte meeting mission you’ll have a party. Sleep until morning, and then sleep again until noon. That made the activities in chapter 4 appear. Did one, got the achievement, and then reloaded my main save.

Final update from me.

I completed the Pearson hunting activity in Chapter 4 and the achievement popped immediately after. Breakdown for me:

Chapter 2: Did all activities, noticed tracker progressed to 33% after sitting with Mary Beth and talking about the world.

Chapter 3: Micah Five finger Fillet and tracker progressed immediately.

Chapter 4: Pearson hunting activity. Achievement popped afterwards.

For chapter 4, activities didn't show until after the first Bronte mission.

So I'm 100% thinking this is glitched.

Chapter 2/3 camps I literally did every single activity and my current bar is at 66%. I'm a little way through chapter 4 and I've played poker/dominos and won dominos and no achievement. Following on from that, your guide doesn't even list poker/dominos for chapter 4?

I was trying to work out first if you have to win - you don't as mine didn't unlock when I did. The I'm think that through each camp, you must take part in different activities for it to unlock. This also can't be right because I've done everything in chapters 2/3 and the activities in chapter 4 are no different but only in terms of who you're with.

I have yet come to a point where anything other than dominos has unlocked, but I'll return to confirm if the achievement unlocks after completing one of the activities listed.

You should unlock the achievement in chapter 4. So 33% by the end of chapter 2. 66% by the end of chapter 3 and unlocked in chapter 4

Nothing appearing for me in Chapter 4 despite clearing the Angelo Bronte mission and several days passed since the camp party.
Edit: saved the game at noon, reloaded same save, Lenny's mission appeared but was locked, went upstairs then downstairs and he spawned.
The spawning of these side missions is buggy for sure and needs work, a lot of players aren't going to even know these exist, unless they look them up.

@Aquesous: Dominoes isn't one of the companion activities for Ch.4, it's just a mini-game.
However, Dominoes/Poker is a companion activity in Ch.2 and 3 though.

i've got 133 hrs played and im on chapter 4. I have done literally EVERY SINGLE THING. on the way here. Powerpyx says that mini games activities don't count in any way, so don't bother, hell for all I know it could be them that are bugging this cheevo. but I went fishing with javier and robbed places and did shit with everyone in every camp, im now near the end of chapter 4 haven't had a single one pop up and im at 40%. so this cheevo is fucked.

Can this achievement get flagged as buggy? I have met requirements, yet haven't unlocked the achievement?

When the missions won't appear in chapter 4 reloading an older save and then your most current save does work to make them appear.

Be sure that your current save is at the hideout, though. I tried riding back after reload and the missions still didn't show up. Saved my current game in the hideout and then did the loading an old save workaround and, when I reloaded my current save in the hideout, Pearson and Lenny had activities for me...

I say its worth a shot. Just reload a save and see if your progress tracker goes up. It’s annoying but it’s probably Better than restarting the game completely if you don’t have to.

for anyone having trouble finding an activity in Chapter 4 - try sleeping until night (in camp) - then save & reload. This helped me get the 'Rustling' mission from Uncle. I was getting worried as nothing would show up & I was at the end of the Chapter.

I couldn't get the Ultimate Edition Bank Robbery to ever appear even when reloading an old save, but it's actually a mission with a Gold Medal so it shows up in my replay list for Chapter 4.

So if I want to play it, I get to do it with no upgrades and a shitty horse. Thanks R*.

Good thing I didn't need it for the achievement.

I contacted r* about this chapter 4 bug (incl my bank robbery mission of ultimate edition that doesn’t appear. Their answas was:

In order to resolve the issue you are facing, I would suggest you to try the following steps:

1) Load a previous save and see if the companion missions appear.

2) If the missions still do not show up please try progressing some in the Story but do not finish Chapter 4 as you will not be able to go back to complete the missions at a later time and get the Trophy.

*update* i opened the debt document from Strauss in my satchel, suddenly a mission popped for the bank robbery!

I just got this achievement after finishing the game. My tracker was at 66%, I remember clearly I did a home robbery in chapter 2 and went fishing in chapter 3. I finished the game without doing a companion mission in chapter 4.

I just reloaded an older save from chapter 4, with my base camp in Shady Belle. Went fishing with Pearson, and the achievement popped right after.

chapter 4 spawns look to have been fixed with the latest patch,
So far i seen Pearson at the docks and I did Lenny's robbery. both randomly spawned at different times of day

Tried this out last night. I know for a fact I did 1 mission in Ch 2 and did 2 in Ch 3. I did 3 missions in Ch 4 and got nothing. I'll advance a little bit to get Lenny's perhaps and If it doesn't work, then I guess you cant play an older save file to get it.

It's probably for the best if you mention the final missions for each chapter, just to make sure that you don't accidentally take up a mission that ends up screwing you over. Might be easier than having to keep tabs on when you're saving.

It appears, at least for me, that gaming activities do not count for this achievement. Only the robbery and hunting type missions counted.

I can confirm the opposite of it. I did the bison hunt with Charles two days ago, and the progress bar marked it as one activity done. And only yesterday I broke Micah out of jail ('Blessed are the Meek?' mission). So I did the activity before doing the quoted mission.

Does the progress bar work for this achievement?

Because I lost a game of Dominos (my opponent reached 60 points) and the progress bar didn't update. Seems like other progress bars for achievements work, so I want to double check.

Edit: I did get progress towards the Hobby Horse (Complete all Mini Games) achievement, but not for this one.

Yeah, I could’ve sworn I did some side activities in both camps(I’m on chapter 3), but it’s stuck on 33%. I even pulled up an old save from the first camp and did an activity there to be safe and it didn’t move to 66%. If I have to go all the way back 15 hours and start the achievement from the beginning, I’m going to be so sad. Can anyone confirm you can still get this from going back to an old save and not actually have to play all the way back from it to the 3rd camp?

A couple notes I have:

Dominoes and poker are unlocked before you officially unlock companion activities. I don't know if they count if you do them once you've unlocked companion activities, but they definitely don't count before that.

This solution says companion activities are unlocked after completing Blessed are the Meeks? I haven't done that mission; my last one was A Quiet Time, and they've now unlocked.

This guide says you have to complete minigames for them to count, but note that not all minigames actually have an end. For Five Finger Fillet, for example, you can keep playing forever. I quit after I won an 80 cent wager and saw that it wasn't going up. I checked and my achievement progress bar did indeed go up.

For anyone having trouble getting the missions to show up in chapter 4, I opened a ticket with R* and they got back to me with the following that made the Pearson hunting mission appear.

1, Press and hold the power button on the front of the console until the Xbox One completely shuts down

2, Once the indicator lights on the front of the Xbox One and the console’s power brick are off, disconnect the power brick from the back of your console

3, Wait at least 30 seconds

4, Plug the power brick back into your Xbox One and turn it on
Boot up the game

Hope this help a few people out at least

I had 140 hrs on the clock during chapter 4, i did allot of exploring and every possible side mission, yet my tracker was stuck at 40 and should have been 66 after chapter 3 atleast, logging into the social club updated my tracker instantly, and i then reloaded my save from the start of chapter 4 doing only the first 2 of dutch's missions. (which is all you need to do to trigger a companion activity) and it did not work for me..

it seems not logging into social club glitched my game beyond normal means as it counted but the tracker didn't. so I had to do the whole thing again. log into social club to be sure, you may need to smash through the 40 orso missions to get there.

Not sure if someone mentioned this yet but I thought I’d confirm for those like me that missed doing a mission in chapter 4:

I was at the very beginning of chapter 6 when I realised I’d missed this achievement. Luckily, I had the ultimate edition so I had the Rhodes bank robbery mission available as a replay - as it can give you a gold medal. I did the mission and it popped straight away. Just in case anyone with that mission available was about to start a new save, this works and will save you a ton of time!

For what it’s worth this is what I did this morning for Chapter 4 and it worked for me.

I quit out of my game to the home screen.
Then completely powered down the Xbox by holding the power button on the console until it turns off.
Turned it off at the mains for 30 seconds.
Turned it on at the mains.
Powered the Xbox back up.
Loaded the game back up.
Went to camp and slept to evening.
Lenny had a mission downstairs at the dining table to rob a stage coach. Pearson also had a mission on the pier behind the house to go hunting.
I did the mission with Lenny and got the Achievement as soon as the mission was finished.

I hope this helps others.

I noticed my progress bar on the console had not updated to 66% when I completed multiple companion activities in chapter 3, but when I checked the progress bar on my phone through the Xbox app it is updated to 66%.

If you think the achievement is bugged for you, I would check the Xbox app on your phone to see if the achievement’s progress bar has updated there.

I still yet have to get to chapter 4 to confirm if I get the achievement or not.

Edit: Somewhere in chapter 3 the progress bar on the console updated to 66%. I’m in chapter 4 and just did the mission with Uncle. Once it was over the achievement popped.

So I'm 100% thinking this is glitched.

Chapter 2/3 camps I literally did every single activity and my current bar is at 66%. I'm a little way through chapter 4 and I just played dominos with both Pearson and Mary-Beth and beat both and no achievement. Following on from that, your guide doesn't even list dominos for chapter 4?

I was trying to work out first if you have to win - you don't as mine didn't unlock when I did. The I'm think that through each camp, you must take part in different activities for it to unlock. This also can't be right because I've done everything in chapters 2/3 and the activities in chapter 4 are no different but only in terms of who you're with.

I have yet come to a point where anything other than dominos has unlocked, but I'll return to confirm if the achievement unlocks after completing one of the activities listed.

To unlock the Friends with Benefits trophy in Red Dead Redemption 2, you need to complete a companion activity in each camp.
