How to unlock the Home Comforts achievement in Red Dead Redemption 2 - Definitive Guide
Camp upgrades can be purchased from Cripps at your player camp marked with a Blue tent symbol. The easiest and least expensive way to do this is to buy 5 different flag colours. To do this you will need about $250 since each colour is $50.
Making money online is a totally different subject and outside of the scope of this solution. Some good ways to make money are:
1. Complete all the story missions which will give you around $400. This can potentially give you enough for:
2. Treasure maps which are gained every 5 levels and give you on average $100 the amount is random. Treasure maps can be retrieved from post offices.
3. Hunting animals for pelts, meat, and carcasses and then selling it all to a Butcher.

When you hit level 10 you get a treasure map in the post office. I got 132 dollars from that alone plus 30 odd gold nuggets.

This achievement is bugged for me. I’ve gotten nearly all of the flags and a rent upgrade and I only have 40%. First time I got a flag it counted, and then I bought my fifth flag with gold and it went up again. Wasted so much money...

Hello everyone!
This trophie seems harder then it actually is! You need to purchase 5 upgrades to your camp! These can be any upgrade! Even the colored flags and outfits. Each flag color cost $50 and with the update to the rewards system this will be even easier to get. Just buy 5 different color flags or actually upgrade your camp which is beneficial down the road!
I have heard that sometimes it actually takes 6 upgrades instead of 5 due to a bug so maybe try an extra color just to be sure.
Hope this helps.

As soon as you unlock the camp site, you can make improvements to said camp. The cheapest route to go is by purchasing different color flags, which cost $50 each (or 2 Gold Bars). Meaning you'll need a minimum of $250 (or 10 Gold Bars) to earn this trophy.

Changing the color of the flag is also considered an improvement, $250 and the trophy is yours.
Don't buy upgrades for gold, it might get buggy.

The flag color works on 01/13/2019!!! I bought a tent upgrade and 4 colors of the flag, every time I left the store and ran outside the camp and ran back just in case, most likely it was unnecessary) It fell out immediately after I bought the 4 color of the flag!!! Foxistr wrote it incorrectly, the color of the flag with the latest patch is considered at the current time.

As of 04/14/2021, the trophy dropped only from the purchase of the 7th flag. I was already starting to worry that I had wasted almost my last money, but the trophy was just a little buggy

In the camp, talk to Cripps and choose what is cheaper. It's better to start with a tent, it's around $25-35. Then tables, and clothes for Cripps.
