I bought 5 only got 20% don't waste your money just now

For a decent money grind (before 'economy balancing' - no idea if this will still apply after) hunt in the swamps North of Saint Denis. Skin the birds there, most give $1.50 per feather -Pelicans and spoonbills, even ravens are 45c. You can only carry 10 of each at a time though, so check back to the butcher regularly. And beware of crocs - 15XP a kill though.

Like other progression based achievements, where you can progress pretty fast by doing the same task over and over again, the progression bar can glitch. Open the guide after every individual buying and wait for the tracker to actually increase!

I just purchased Cripps’ outfits and those worked. Buying the flags with gold will raise it as well, so you might be better off saving gold for them.

This seems to be glitched. I keep buying new stuff for the camp but it's sitll stuck at 80%. Run out of flag colours to pick...

This worked for me, here's what I did; buy a flag then back all the way out of the shop menu, open the guide and make sure the achivement tracked your purchase, repeat. If you buy them all too fast it won't track it, even doing what I did it took up to 15 seconds to register that I bought something.

buy them with gold.

Tracker got stuck at 40% after buying two and didn't update at all after buying 3 more but it still unlocked.

No problems here, bought five flag colours on the bounce using the gold Rockstar kindly gave me for nothing and the achievement popped straight up

Can confirm that’s I’ve just bought 5 flag colours and it unlocked for me.

Got it this way. Used 10 of the 15 gold bars the game just gave me for starting. Bought one each time and then backed out to make sure the progress went up in the tracker.

For some reason I needed to buy 6 flags. Gladly they are 30% off currently

I had to do a sixth as well for some reason. Don't remember what I used to get to 80% but the first flag didn't increase it at all. Bought a second with gold and it popped.

I was stuck at 80% ...here's what I did to fix my glitched progress.

Settings > Account > Remove Accounts > Select your profile > Home > Quit Game > Power Off Xbox (Hold Power Button for ~ 7 seconds) > Unplug power cord for a few minutes > Plug in > Power on > Recover your profile > Sign in > Sync process with Rockstar should appear > RDR online > Go to camp > Buy some fucking flags > Unlocked!

I also had an issue where I would set a waypoint on the map but the red trail wasn't appearing on my mini-map. After I did this it starting appearing again.

Btw I'm not playing online with GOLD...not sure how. Maybe because it's a beta?? I don't think that matters.

Is anybody still having trouble with this unlocking? I've bought way more than 5 camp improvements, completed the steps suggested by AWC GOTTI above, and I'm still stuck at 80%.

EDIT: I think I've found the issue here, it seems to be that once you use gold to buy an item, any other items bought within the same category will not count towards the achievement.

For instance, I bought 3 flags with cash, the 4th with gold, and the 5th with cash again. Even though the tracker said 80%, the game had only counted the first 3 that I bought with cash for the achievement. Once I had bought a flag with gold, flags no longer counted beyond the original three (even though I bought all of them).

To confirm that this was the problem I bought 2 further items with cash from different categories, one camp theme and one outfit for Cripps. The achievement unlocked straight away.

Hopefully this will help some people, as the bug doesn't affect everyone, the best way to avoid this happening is to use cash to buy all camp upgrades until the achievement unlocks.
