How to unlock the It's Art achievement in Red Dead Redemption 2 - Definitive Guide
Welcome to what will be your most time-consuming achievement to get in Red Dead Redemption 2.
Before going any further, I highly suggest completing the games second epilogue prior to starting this as you will need to unlock Beaches Hope (John Marston's Farm) to get this achievement. However, if you wish to start this immediately then you can during chapter 2. Speaking of this achievement, it is actually split into two separate parts and is one of the longer 20+ hour ones to complete.
The first part of this achievement requires that you collect 19 3 Star quality pelts from specific animals that have been requested. To start this, head to any of the major train stations around the map and you'll find the poster on the wall (It's by the door inside at the Valentine station).Once you've completed a hunt, return to the Post Office and send off your items then wait till the next day to resume your hunting by visiting the Post Office for the next step.
You will need to hunt the following Animals:
Squirrels - Best found around Emerald Ranch & Dewberry Creek.
Rabbits - Around Emerald Ranch area.
Rats - Civil war battlefield, east of Braithwaith Manor.
Cardinal - Dakota River or Roanoke Valley.
Woodpecker - North of Annesburg or Braithwaith Manor.
Chipmunks - Between Braithwaith Manor and Caliga Hall.
Opossum - South of Rigs Station.
Orioles - Roanoke Valley or Monto's Rest.
Robins - Roanoke Valley.
Songbirds - Roanoke Valley or Monto's Rest.
Sparrows - Roanoke Valley.
Toads - Roanoke Valley.
Skunks - North of Upper Montana River.
Bullfrogs - East of Bluewater Marsh.
Bats - Behind the Elysian Pools Waterfall.
Blue Jays - Roanoke Valley.
Crows - Emerald Ranch.
Wax Wings - Cumberland Falls.
Beavers - Below the R for New Hanover.
After you have completed all the hunting requests, you must wait 24 hours for an Invitation from Mrs. Hobbs.
Important Notes
- Don't skin or pluck any animals.
- Don't go after animals that require you put them on your horse until last as they will spoil.
- Get the Buck Antler Trinket from killing the Legendary Buck so 2 Stars can have a chance to come as 3 stars when picked up.
- Get the Pronghorn Trinket from the killing the Legendary Pronghorn so animals don't spoil on your horse when you pick them up.
- If an animal doesn't spawn in your area as a 3 star or just in general, you can Save - Quit Game - Continue to respawn the area.
Visit Mrs. Hobbs and you will be treated to a cutscene and get a reward which is a Gunslinging Squirrel. Now take it back to Beaches Hope and place it atop the Fireplace in the living room. Abigail isn't a fan. Now leave the ranch and set up your campfire and wait a day or so then return to the ranch. You'll need to do this multiple times so I recommend after each step sleeping some more and if you can't sleep, use either the blackwater coach and travel to Annesburg or quit the game and load back in.
The following locations are where the Squirrel can be found:
- John's Room inside a chest.
- John's Room inside a Fireplace.
- Uncles Room inside a chest in the attic which can be accessed by using the ladder in the kitchen.
- Outside in a wheelbarrow in the sheep pen.
- Outside in the barn in a chest on the upper level.
- Waaaaaay north on the top of Mount Shann.
You will unlock the Achievement after picking it up again for the final time. Here is a video guide:

I can't find any of the request papers

So Ms. Hobbs goes on vacation until you finish the game right? i wanted to do all of the challenges but I just realized you probably need the epilogue for the last hunting request? If this is the case, you should tell people not to bother collecting for the last part as I'm pretty sure you lose your inventory going into the post-game...

Once you receive the trophy after meeting with Ms. Hobbs place the trophy at the fireplace at Beechers Hope. Leave ranch, wait 24 hrs, return and the squirrel trophy is gone! Find the trophy 5 times and place it back on the fireplace. The 6th time you don't have to place it back once you find it.
Location 1: in John's room, chest by the door.
Location 2: John's room again, interact with fireplace.
Location 3: Go to room across from John's room and there's a ladder to the attic, chest in the attic.
Location 4: outside of barn by the sheep.
Location 5: Inside barn, climb ladder, chest at the top.
Location 6: Top of Mount Shann

Here's a great guide on where to find the requests and how to hunt them. Credit to powerpyx.
http://www.powerpyx.com/red-dead-redemption-2-all-hunting-re...
It also has the locations to place the trophy except the last unknown locations.
Note: alot of the birds spawn in big valley(cedar waxwing, woodpecker, cardinal,Oriole, robin, sparrow, songbird)west elizabeth part of the map.
I just stood on my horse with binocalurs. I did receive the requests even though I had most of the birds already in my inventory and they counted, after turning in the previous requests.
It's best to manual save after turning in the request if you do have subsequent requests in your inventory, just to be safe if it does bug and you don't get another request the following day.
Also, it's best to start this question after you have completed the epilogue, it's a massive time consumer hunting these damn animals and finding them in pristine condition.

hunting request 5 only becomes available during epilogue 1. i'm in chapter 2 and did not receive it after turning in the fourth one, i also had some of the next request carcasses in the satchel at the time so not sure if it glitched on me.

It's no glitch. When you received your reward for hunting request #4 there is a letter from ms. hobbs to say that she's gone on vacation.
Also when you read your log.
So this continues later.

Simply complete all the hunting requests (you can start this series by picking up the paper inside Mail Offices (i got mine from saint denis but there are i think 5 other locations you can get it aswell))
after completing all the goals you'll get an invitation to the old lady and this is where you get the squirrel statue, afterwards head to your ,,Home,, (Ranch) and put the Statue ontop of the chimney, Abigail won't like it though and hide it multiple times whereas you have to find it all the times and put it back, after finding it the sixth time (ontop of a mountain lol) you will be awarded with the trophy.
I used this handy guide that will give you good tips and locations for the hunting part and also shows the places where abigail hides the squirrel:

While you can work on the bulk of this trophy during the game's story mode, you cannot earn it until after completing the game's Epilogue (you need access to the entire map).
Whenever you're in a train station, keep an eye out on the notice board – you will eventually find a flier looking for hunters (I got it late in Chapter 3 at the Rhodes post office; I don't know if it was available earlier or elsewhere). The flier will request specific perfect animal carcasses, so make sure you have a Varmint rifle and lots of small game arrows. Once you've fulfilled the request, go to any post office and mail the carcasses off, then come back in another day or two to receive a reward and another request.
With regards to the smaller carcasses (small mammals, birds etc.) it's worth remembering that once you have them in your satchel, they will not decay, unlike when you hang carcasses on your horse so for anything listed with an asterisk, if you happen to come across the animal while playing, take it out and store it until you are finally able to mail it out. Also, the star ranking on birds doesn't seem to matter - as long as you kill them the way the game tells you to (generally with small animal arrows), you will always get a perfect carcass.
There's a great place where you can get nearly all of the birds required for this trophy. From Annesburg (the text), go up and right and you’ll see the river hooking up and right. This bend of the river has several boulders in it, and every required species of bird (except Cedar Waxwing) will land on the rocks here. Your best bet is to be there in the early morning - around 6-7 AM.
For the small critters (except beavers), a good place to go is the Ringneck Creek (especially the left side), between the "E" and "M" of Lemoyne. Get there in the evening around 8-9 PM and you should get one or two of each species required to spawn. It's also a short ride to Rhodes from there, which makes mailing off your perfect carcasses quick and easy. Unlike the birds, the star ranking on the small critters does matter so make sure you’re only going for the three-star ones.
If you're worried, craft the trinket you get from the Legendary Pronghorn Horn (not accessible until post-game), as it keeps animals on the horse from spoiling. The trinket you get from the Legendary Buck Antler may help as well.

You need to complete all 5 "Hunt Requests" from Miss Hobbs, the first request is in Valentine in the post office on the notice wall. Or on other mails, depending on the stage of the game. The rest come by mail with a reward for the previous one.
After all orders are completed, you need to place the squirrel over the fireplace on your farm. And return it to its original place after it “runs away”.
Please note that all carcasses must be of excellent quality (3 stars), use a Varmint carbine and a bow and arrow for small game, you can send an order only after you have collected all the animals from the current request.
An amulet made from the horn of a male deer will also be useful to you - “When skinning animals, the player receives items of higher quality.”
After this, you can raise birds with two stars, but at the same time of excellent quality.
I recommend the beach marked with a cross; during the day all the birds from the area flock to it, almost all of them are needed by Miss Hobbs.
There are also toads and skunks, on the opposite side in the evening you can find squirrels and hares, at night you can hunt pumas for the Master Hunter 6 test. If you don’t like standing in one place, take a walk downstream and pay attention to the stones in the river, the birds will be waiting you there.
Don’t rush to stock up on carcasses for the 5th request if you haven’t reached the epilogue yet, Miss Hobbs is going on vacation in the main game and you will have to collect them again in the epilogue.

For all the requirements, it is not the skins that are needed, but the animal carcasses themselves.
In the task, they require any subspecies of animals, for example: Woodpecker, here you can find Carolina melanerpes or Crested woodpecker

If you can’t find the poster, then go to Rhodes and complete the Black and White quest (collect 5 posters about Rhodes with their faces, one of which is located right at the station). After that, get some sleep and go to Rhodes Station - the request should appear.

The trophy is not glitched.
To obtain it you need:
Place the squirrel on the shelf. After 1-2 game days it will disappear. You can find it in a chest in Marston's room. We put it on and it disappears again. The second time it will lie in the chimney in Marston's room. The third time, the squirrel will be in one of the chests in the attic (in the kitchen there is a staircase leading to the attic). The fourth time the squirrel will be lying to the right of the barn in the sheep pen. For the fifth time, the squirrel will be lying on Mount Shann (slightly to the right and below the last letter N in the word SHANN). I took the squirrel for the fifth time and got a trophy.

The fifth time the squirrel will lie in the chest of the barn on the second floor, and only then the 6th time on the mountain!

When you accept one or another hunting request, the spawning of the desired animals decreases sharply (especially for the blackbird). Therefore, I advise you to first collect everything you need, and then take the request. This trick can only be done with small animals that the character puts in a bag because they do not rot. In principle, large ones are also possible, but just before you go, take a request with them otherwise they will go bad.
