Master Craftsman

Master Craftsman

Red Dead Online: You crafted 20 items (excluding ammo).

How to unlock the Master Craftsman achievement in Red Dead Redemption 2 - Definitive Guide

After completing the intro you’ll get your own camp, with a fire to craft your items. The most easiest item to craft is meat you get from skinning animals. Note you can craft the same item over and over again and get progress torwards the achievement.

Simply go outside your camp on the horse or on foot and look around for animals to kill and skin. Tip that helps if your having trouble looking for small game animals is to use eagle eye by pressing cn_LS + cn_RS that will highlight animals in your field of view. Once your certain you have enough meat. Go to camp and sit by the fire by holding cn_X to craft items. Sit there and cook all the meat you just harvested.

I pressed left on the d-pad and moved the camp to Hennigans Stead quite close to the rail tracks where I found rabbits, Pronghorns, wolfs etc and got the achievement done in around 20-30 mins. Possibly doesmt matter where you set camp up but I found that not many players venture around the bottom left of the map. So less hassle having to worry about fending off a posse of degenerates while your peacefully salvaging resources to survive.

Matallicafan459 Mentioned in the comments,
“It looks like the game resets your progress every session, so you will have to do it in one session”. So make sure you get this achievement done in one single session otherwise your progress may be reset.

The achievement is glitched. I'm stuck at 85% and no matter what I craft, it doesn't unlock.

OK, so after two restarts of my Xbox, the counter resumed working and I got the achievement.

Glad you could get it Gabwe! I can’t say I ever encountered that problem myself but least we know how it can be resolved if it does happen to someone else :)

I have it in 65% and does not go up, I played two different days and still not up, so the switch off and on the console does not solve it always, not to do

hmm strange one! Have you tried crafting any other items to see if the progress tracker increases? I know collecting different types of plants can help crafts tonics/medicines.

Brewing coffee also works. Just buy 20 (if you havent crafted anything else) and continue brewing until it unlocks. Coffee beans cost $1 each.

PianoNE0 - it looks like the game resets your progress every session, so you will have to do it in one session.

Same is happening for me, I crafted 8 items (40%) in my first online sessionbefore turning the game off. Now today having gone back on I crafted 5 snake oil tonics - the tracker has not moved.

So rather than being in 13/20 the bane saw me on 5/20 less than 40%, so the tracker doesn’t move. I expect when I craft my 9th item in a new session the tracker will move.

This happened with both Butchered and the herb picking achievements

You may also find your progress has been reset - as this happened to me. In the Awards screens I had gone back to 0 herbs pickled/ 0 animals killed etc - my character level was not reset

Very good information PianoNE0. I’ll have to add that to the solution and give you a mention. Thank you.

Annoying that again this has to be done in one session. This one particularly because the camp system is so broken and won't respawn your camp where you request it. But it takes your money anyways!

Idk when it was patched but you do not have to do all 20 in one session any more. Booted he game up a 35% progress and it went up by 5% with every item, as it should.

This is severely glitched because I cooked at least 30 pieces of meat at my camp and the progress bar didn’t even move. 😡

If you've got a bit of money and can't be bothered hunting or gathering (which is potentially unlikely considering how shitty the money system is on online at the moment) just go to the general store and pick up ground coffee.

I was buying coffee for about $1 each and you should have enough money to buy enough for this achievement after completing one of the story missions. Go back to camp and brew some coffee on the fire 20 times and you're done! Be aware that you can't store the coffee so once it's brewed you'll need to drink it and brew another.

Obviously because of the cost and inability to store what you're made it's not as viable as M I K 3 ID v's solution but if you're like me and sold most of the stuff you gathered before doing this achievement it's a very quick way to pop down to the store and get all the stuff you need.

Move your camp to Bayou Nwa and here you can find lots of different animals to kill and harvest. Once you have 20 types of meat go to your camp and cook them all and you will gain the Master Craftsman Achievement. You can see me gaining the achivevement at 6.26 in the video below.

The cheapest and fastest way to get this trophy is to cook meat. This method is ideal because you need no pamphlets, money or a certain level: just the guns and bullets the game provides you at the start. You'll need to explore the wilderness and hunt a few animals. After you kill an animal, walk up to them and skin/pick up the animal. Larger animals must be skinned, whilst smaller animals can only be picked up and put in your satchel. Once you have 20 total pieces of meat, you will need to find a campfire to cook at.

You can find campfires randomly in each of the towns or by going to your own personal camp. You will then want to walk up to the campfire and hold to enter the crafting menu. A list of your meats will come up and you will be able to select which type to cook. If you choose, you can add a herb to it but that is not necessary for the trophy. Make sure to hold after selecting your meat to cook it. You can either eat the meat or store it in your inventory, preferably store it for later use to replenish your cores. Cook 20 pieces of meat and the trophy will pop.

We hunt rabbits, birds, deer. We go to the camp and roast meat. Brewing coffee also counts

While at the fire press To switch to crafting mode, the easiest way to get a trophy is to fry meat or mix some tonics.
