*This guide is targeted specifically for individuals that put this on the back burner like I did, and are having issues unlocking it. So if that's not you, use the above solution! It's great! A lot in this guide can be considered spoilers, so be aware before scrolling down to the parts where I list certain missions and characters.*
This is a long read solution but doesn't take more than a couple hours to do. If you're stuck and are desperate, here you go!
I don't usually make guides, but I couldn't find a solution here for my problem. For those of you who forgot this achievement even existed like I did and did not have any early game saves to fall back on and are frustrated, Here's a solution for you! First off, here's some important quick tips to know regarding this achievement.
- ALL FIVE requests have to be done in the same playthrough, (can't get three in one playthrough and two in another.) I found that out the hard way and is why I'm making this guide. SO unfortunately, you HAVE to make a new save and play the game like normal until the arrival at the first camp.
- Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe requests aren't able to be started until the arrival of the first camp location.
- A couple requests are available almost as soon as you get to the first camp. Example: Hosea's book, or Mary's fountain pen.
- If a character you want to do a request for is in another location waiting for you to start their mission, GO DO THE MISSION, then return to camp. They should be there and you may be able to get their request then.
- If you do a mission for someone and return to camp at an attempt to start their request, try sleeping to different times of day to get that person to do their specific animation. Some NPCs are awake at night, Javier for example.
- Most of the requests require you to interact with said person while they are in a certain animation around a specific timeframe of day, or by starting a certain activity like poker or dominos.
- A lot of the requests are chapter specific and need to be done within that specific time frame. Only a couple are left by then end of chapter 4. Hosea's book is one of them.
- If you can't find any requests, do a mission, return to camp, sleep, then try and look for one again. If none again, do another mission, then look again.
- I'm not entirely sure on this and does need confirming, but I do believe most of the items requested as long as they're not named unique items are obtainable at any point as long as that request is available to be done in that specific chapter. From what I know, the named specific items can only be found in the game AFTER the request has started.
Here's what I did!
So with all that being said, here is what I did to get it in the quickest way I could do the least amount of missions and stuff. I can not guarantee it will work for you as there are probably a bunch of uncontrollable or unknown factors that effect triggering the availability of certain NPCs requests, but you can give it a try if you're desperate! At the very least you will get most or a few and you got a head start.
- So start up a new game and make it through the snow part until you get to the first camp, Horseshoe Overlook. From there, Hosea's request can be started by reading his book near his tent. I then went and got his book, you can turn it in to him after you do his mission.
- Then I did the mission where you take the girls to valentine. I returned to camp and slept until noon I believe, then I saw Mary writing in her book and I was able to talk to her and start then fountain pen request. I went and got the pen, returned to camp, and gave it to her.
- Then I went and did the mission where you and Hosea try and hunt the bear. We returned to camp together and I was then able to give him his item request.
- Then I did the following missions back to back. Mission where you go to valentine and meet Javier, Charles, and Bill in the saloon and you fight the BIG BOI, mission where Kieran leads you to the cabin of O'Driscolls, mission where you get drunk at the bar with Lenny, then finally the mission to retrieve Reverend Swanson. The one where you play poker and save him from the train.
- Then I returned to the camp and slept until evening. When I awoke, poker was now available to be played at the camp. While playing poker, Pearson requested I find him a new naval compass. (I'm not sure if the game pulls random people to play against, or if it's the same at the first time playing at camp. I remember I got Pearson and John to play against. There was a third but I can't remember who it was.) Went and got the compass and returned to camp to give to Pearson.
- Then I went and did the mission where you save Sean with Javier and Charles. After that I returned to camp and slept until around evening I think. When I awoke, Javier had a homestead robbery mission, and Charles had a hunting mission. (you do not have to do the hunting mission) I walked around and talked to people for a bit trying to find a new request, then the blip for Charles's hunting mission went away. I then went to look for him and found him at the fire near the poker table working on an arrow. He requested moonshine and I went to get it and gave it to him.
- The final request I found early on was Javier. He had a homestead mission and I couldn't get it to go away so I did that with him really fast. I returned to camp, slept to around noon I believe, and I found him sitting at the dominos table messing with his knife. I talked to him and requested Oleander so I went to "N'awlins" to get it. I then returned to camp and gave Javier the Oleander to complete all five requests.
Now as I stated, the course of these events could very well be random or coincidence and may be in a different order for you. If this doesn't work for you, all you need to know is there are plenty more to find and do. Just go do a mission, come back to camp, sleep for a bit, then look for requests. If you cant find any then go do another mission and repeat looking for requests until you find the last that you need. Good luck!

I'm at the end of Chapter 4 and spent all afternoon trying to get the Hosea errand because you wrote "Only a couple are left by then end of chapter 4. Hosea's book is one of them."
Well... The errand apparently has to be started in Chapter 2.

Ok I am pretty sure this achievement is NOT missable. After the second epilogue and you finished the story I got a request at Beechers Hope from uncle for a home remedy that included five items... bourbon.. peppermint.. milkweed.. hair pomade.. and skunk meat. It shows in the log as a camp item request. Now I already have the achievement but for those considering replaying the game for this achievement or may have missed one this may be light at the end of the tunnel. I will complete this one and see if I get another one later. Hope this helps a little.

I had 4/5 done, done the task described above AFTER completing all story missions and unlocked the achievement.

To earn the Errand Boy trophy in Red Dead Redemption 2, you need to complete five companion item requests. There's two difficulties with this. The first is getting those requests to trigger, and the second is finding the requested items which are not marked on your map.
Here are the reported item requests, although some of them I was unable to trigger personally.
Jack -- The boy requested his Penny Dreadful book while taking him fishing in the mission "A Fisher of Men", so don't worry if this hasn't unlocked for you in camp. There are several books in the game, the nearest at the start of the game is in a hut east of Emerald Station labelled Osman Grove. Keep an eye out for a Fountain Pen in a drawer in here too -- see Mary Beth's request below.
Dutch -- One of the first item requests to appear for me in Chapter 2. Try to catch Dutch between 8am-8pm in the camp outside his tent, while standing and smoking a cigar. You'll find him a Pipe in a cabin above the "W" of WEST ELIZABETH on the map.
Tilly -- During Chapters 2 or 3, try and get Tilly into a Dominoes match and she will likely share the fact that she wants a necklace. You'll get Necklaces from looting homesteads and general robbery.
Abigail -- Reportedly she will ask you for a simple $5 at some point between 8am and 8pm in Chapter 2, though I couldn't get this to trigger.
Jack -- Chapter 2. After completing the first item request, Jack later approached me in the camp at daytime asking after a thimble. These can be retrieved from random dead bodies; it seems that the item only appears after the request has been made, or is at least much more likely to appear in loot.
Javier -- Chapter 2. See if you can catch Javier sitting and working on some throwing knives during the day. He will ask you for some Oleander Sage. It can be found in a few places, though PowerPyx has a handy guide to a specific location that should also net you a random encounter.
Mary Beth -- Chapter 2. Catch Mary Beth during the day while she is writing in her book and you might be able to trigger a request for a new Fountain Pen. If you've headed to Osman Grove already for Jack and looted the place, you should hopefully have a Pen (unless you sold it).
Pearson -- Chapter 2. Once Poker is unlocked (after you have rescued the Reverend) you can start a game during the day and get Pearson to talk about his compass. You can find this in the Boathouse on the western edge of the Braithwaite Manor property, on a workbench by the entrance. It's technically outside of the no-fly zone if you haven't dealt with the Braithwaites yet, just don't ride too fast past the front gate or you will get shot at.
Sean -- Chapter 2. Allegedly asks you for some Kentucky Bourbon if you hang around camp, though I did not see this one trigger. Bourbon is incredibly common and can also be bought in a General Store.
Bill -- Chapters 2 - 4. Another one I wasn't personally able to trigger, but Bill just needs some Hair Pomade, again available commonly as loot and in the General Store.
Charles -- Chapters 2 - 4. Another one I wasn't personally able to trigger, but Charles wants some Moonshine. Head to a Fence to procure some. He may also ask for some Oleander so you can head to the same location above.
Hosea -- Chapters 2 - 4. Read the book on a barrel in Hosea's tent, some report he needs to be near the tent to trigger a necessary dialogue however I was able to trigger the request when he wasn't nearby -- Arthur makes a comment about finding another one for the old man. There's a hut called Hagen Orchards right under the O of BAYOU and south-west of Lakay -- you'll find the book in there.
Susan -- Chapters 2 - 4. Susan may ask for some Oregano during the day. I managed to trigger this in the Chapter 2 camp while encountering Susan near to Pearson's area. Oregano is very common in the Heartlands wilderness of Chapter 2.
Lenny -- Chapters 2 - 4. I managed to trigger this during a daytime encounter, though others report that he only makes this request at night. Lenny wants a Pocket Watch. They're fairly common in loot.
Pearson -- Chapters 2 - 4. The cook will apparently ask for a rabbit between 8am and lunchtime, though I can't personally verify this. Rabbits are everywhere, you've probably trodden on a few.
That should hopefully be enough to get things sorted for you. Just remember to start working on this in Chapter 2 and you should be fine.

Dose this mean, for example, Mary Beth didn't not ask you for the pen during chapter 2 then you miss her companion request?
By misterjon15 on 02 Nov 2018 06:09
Missable!
This trophy must be unlocked prior to finishing Chapter 4.
In each campsite, members of the camp will randomly ask you to find them things. These can be anything from herbs to animal skins to money to unique items like books or collectible cards. Camp members tend to ask during the daytime and will approach you for it (you don't need to seek them out for conversation for them to ask). If you already have the item in your inventory (herbs, money etc.), you can just give it to them right away without leaving and re-entering the camp but for unique items (example: Abigail's thimble, which is found by looting enemies), you can't find them until asked. There are over 20 requests in the game but you only need to fulfill five for this trophy.
