Buckle Up
Red Dead Online: You achieved 5 gold belt buckles from awards.
How to unlock the Buckle Up achievement in Red Dead Redemption 2 - Definitive Guide
This achievement was glitched for me in a positive way. I only did 3 things and the achievement popped for me of the 5 it says you need.
If you want to check out all the progress towards all of the belt buckles you can hit and go down to Progress. From there go to Awards and it will lay out all of the available belt buckles in the different categories.
The ones I did was the 2 under the Travel section (ride from Colter to Adler's Ranch and Ride from Valentine to Strawberry) I went to a general store and bought a couple horse tonics to refill my horse's stamina when it was empty. I had a timer going and they were not difficult to get there in plenty of time
The other one I did was in the trade section. Go to a butcher, doctor, and fence to sell them one item. I used an herb that I picked up around the game and sold it to the doctor in Valentine. I killed a random animal and skinned it and took it to a butcher in Valentine as well. Lastly I went to the fence in Thieves Landing and sold him an item I picked up after looting enemies.
Achievement popped after the third gold belt buckle I got.
Edit- Looks like the achievement might be glitchy in a good or bad way. Some people are reporting it taking the 5 buckles or more to track/unlock. I will report some more easy buckles later when I have some more time

Earn 100 Gold Nuggets.
You get this just from playing and doing challenges.
Sell an item to 3 shop types.
Meat to butcher, valuables to fence, herbs to doctor.
Achieve Maximum Bond Level With Your Horse
Self-explantatory
Complete 4 Free Roam Missions In A Day
Again, self explanatory.
Complete Free Roam Missions From 10 Characters
Anyone you haven't met is marked as "stranger" on the map. Go up to them and meet them and complete a mission. When you've completed 10 missions from 10 characters you get this.
Boom. Easy enough to get.

Tracking your progress
If you want to look at the full list of belt buckles or track your progress you can press start go to progress then go onto awards.
Pinning your challenges
It helped me a lot by pinning the challenge I was doing. You can do this by looking at the awards page, hovering over the challenge you wish to do then click RS. Your challenge will now be pinned and you can track your progress easier. To do this just press left on your D-Pad and go to pinned. This saves you time instead of going through the pause menu to track progress.
My List
I have included my list below. They’re relatively easy however it can be costly if you’re fast travelling but it makes this achievement a lot quicker.
Sell an item to 3 shop types - sell an item to Doctor, Butcher and Fence.
Doctor - Any herbs that you have picked up at any point
Butcher - Any meat or animal that you have killed at any point
Fence - Any valuables you have looted from an enemy.
Drink in every saloon (9 Saloons)
- Tumbleweed
- Armadillo
- Blackwater
- Valentine x2 Saloons
- Rhodes
- Saint Denis x2 Saloons
- Van Horn
Towns Visited (12 Towns)
- Tumbleweed
- Armadillo
- Marcfarlenes Ranch
- Thieves Landing (delay with counting)
- Blackwater
- Strawberry
- Valentine
- Rhodes
- Saint Denis
- Lagras
- Van Horn
- Annesburg
6 Enemies killed with a revolver without reloading
- Self explanatory but best to complete against lawmen in any town. You can use Blackwater and camp on a roof and kill them when they climb up. You’re also best using LeMat Revolver as this holds 9 rounds instead of the typical 6. You can also use express rounds as they cause more damage.
50 enemies Killed consecutively with the same weapon
- I did this straight after the above buckle. You can die and it will not affect your progress, just stay in a town and kill lawmen as they spawn. You can also use express rounds as they cause more damage.
Happy Hunting,

Good solution above, although I found some buckles to be dead easy:
If I were you I would go for these:
- travel from Valentine to Strawberry in 3:30 minutes (horse)
- travel from Emerald Ranch to Braithwaite Manor in 3:45 minutes (horse)
- travel from Colter to Adler's Ranch 1:30 minutes (horse)
All 3 are really not time consuming, buy several horse stimulants and you're good to go. You get 500xp for each as well. Decent deal.
Add these 2 to it and you have your 5 buckles:
- obtain the maximum level of bond with your horse (care about your horse - pat, feed, clean)
- max up your honor or become completely dishonourable -> your choice, just max it in any way, really simple and fast buckle
There are dozens of other ones to choose but these are the simpliest I believe.

Buckles are rewards you obtain through normal play, which can net you a lot experience. These will be vital to making your grind to level 50 go as fast as possible, because you earn 500 XP for each one you complete.
You progress toward buckles by doing just about everything (combat, hunting, buying/selling, etc). Every challenge has a Gold Buckle and there are 463 challenges to undertake. Some only have a Gold Buckle, others have progression tiers. These tiers will award you with lesser buckles as you make your way to gold. The lesser buckles also reward experience upon completion. Buckles that have these tiers can be repeated up to ten times whereas those with only gold can be completed only once. It’s very useful to take advantage of this en route to level 50 by completing simple buckles such as selling herbs to a doctor or blowing up multiple animals at once (aka throwing dynamite at fish). Just make sure you reset the progress of that challenge from the Awards menu before tackling it again.
There are a few simple one-off Gold Buckles you can pursue:

There are a few simple one-off Gold Buckles you can pursue:
- Sell an item to three shop types.
- Earn 100 Gold Nuggets (you could earn this as you progress the story)
- Kill one flying bird with an arrow (easily done with auto-lock and deadeye)
- Taste 20 herbs
- Reach Maximum Honor (could earn this as you progress story)
- Achieve maximum bond with your horse
- Complete 10 unique free roam missions (which you can earn with Gun for Hire if you don't repeat the same one twice)
To unlock the Buckle Up trophy in Red Dead Online, you need to earn the gold award in 5 different challenges in the Awards menu, which you can find within the Progress menu.
This is probably not going to be as difficult as it sounds. A lot of the gold buckles are a big grind as you need to repeat actions multiple times, in some cases 1000 times. Others require a lot of skill. However there are some that should be pretty straightforward.
First off, there's the Free Roam Award which only requires you to complete 10 Free Roam missions to get the buckle. You need to do that anyway to get:
Here's some other simple ones:
FREE ROAM: Complete 4 Free Roam missions in a day -- head out away from other characters and pick up missions to have the best chance at this. Obviously try not to die.
GENERAL: Reach Maximum Honor -- you can actually hit this really quickly, much more quickly than in the base game. Looking after your horse nets you good Honor, and the first few story missions after the tutorial (i.e. after you've set up camp) are all honor-based. If you are on a team that are like-minded and vote for the honorable options in each case you'll likely get this buckle shortly afterwards.
TRADE: Earn 100 Gold Nuggets -- this is Rockstar's premium currency and as you might expect, earning it without paying real money is an awful grind. Most times you find or are awarded gold nuggets we're talking 3 or 4 at most. However, I received a Treasure Map early on (shortly after wrapping up the honor missions mentioned above). It's unclear if this is true every time, but the treasure I discovered was 1 Gold Bar, which is equivalent to 100 gold nuggets and granted me this reward.
HORSE: Achieve maximum bond level with your horse -- this works in the same way as the base game, so again just try and stay away from malicious players and this should be achieveable.
HORSE: Purchase 5 unique horse breeds -- you can work towards this while pursuing the below trophy:
TRADE: Sell an item to three shop types -- You'll need to sell to a Butcher for a trophy anyway. It should be pretty easy to sell items to a Fence and a Trapper as well.
SURVIVALIST: Taste 20 herbs -- Cons: you need to taste 20 unique herbs. Pros: "Herbs" is misleading, berries and flowers seem to count too.
SHARPSHOOTER: Acquire 19 guns -- I had 4 by the end of the tutorial so this is unlikely to take too long, especially if you're heading for Rank 50.
If you're a good shot, there are some Hunting and Sharpshooting awards that are less of a grind:
Kill 3 enemies with a sniper rifle headshot in 10 seconds
Kill 1 flying bird with an arrow
Kill 1 player with a bow from 100m
Kill 10 enemies in a single Dead Eye use (Note -- that's enemies, not players. You can do this with NPC enemies)
Kill 50 enemies consecutively with the same weapon (it appears you have to do this in a single session, my counter reset when the game crashed)
Kill 6 enemies with a revolver without reloading
Get 5 gold medals and the trophy should unlock.

Buckles are the rewards. Choose the easy ones for you and do it.
The fastest way will be to run the last 5 challenges with friends. (Reward Section: Marksman)
Or the Horse section. Achieve maximum loyalty and buy 5 horses for another trophy. There's a buckle for that too.
Survival Section: Eat 20 Plants
Free mode: clear 4 lairs. Complete 4 tasks in a game day.
Hunting: shoot down a bird with a bow.
For me, these are easy tests to perform solo. And you don’t need to do a lot, like kill 1000 enemies, etc.
There is a small way. For example, I’ll take the reward for “sell items to 3 different stores.” I sold it to two stores and was the last one left. I saved (exit session) and loaded. I came to the store. Sold the item. I came out and they gave me a buckle. I quickly turned off the Internet. The money and experience have been credited, but the buckle is again at 2 out of 3. You can sell it again and get money and experience. But this method works about 10 times. A more infinite way involves rewards that can be dropped on a square. Let’s say the reward is “sell 100 plants to the doctor.” I sold all 100. They gave me a buckle and I can get the first level of the reward and do it again. I reset and turn off the internet. I am credited with 0.2 bars and the test remains unreset. This way you can farm ingots. It took me 1 minute and 40 seconds to get 0.2 bars. In 14 minutes or less I get 2 bars.

And then you can hang one of the buckles on your belt.
You can dress up at the clothing seller in the fitting room and, like, in the camp.

The tasks in the travel section are also quite simple; getting from Valentine to Strawberry and 2 more similar ones, in the specified time, can be completed on an almost pumped horse.

Once you reach level 50, the trophy will drop anyway, because buckles are given for almost everything.
I recommend that you first take the buckle for achieving the highest level of honor, and then vice versa. There will be story missions for the good (simple) and for the evil (harder). In the last mission, you can easily take the buckle for the evil one for 50 killed with one weapon. Also, I recommend taking the buckle for 4 cleared camps in one day - in the camps, sometimes after clearing, one of the corpses will have a treasure map (this is about +60$ and 0.3 gold).
Also, at level 12 you can buy a bow. By playing with a bow against NPCs, you can pump up your health and take a couple of buckles.
Essentially, these buckles are challenges that keep you interested in the game.
