The mission ‘Magicians for Sport’ during Chapter 3 is the best way to make a lot of progress towards this achievement. Every enemy in this mission has $20+ on them, so if you have done even a decent bit of looting up to this point the achievement will probably pop here.

When you kill an enemy, you will have the option to "loot" or "pick up" their body. To loot, simply go over to the corpse and hold the button and you will pick up money or supplies. There are plenty of enemies in this game, so you'll naturally get this one as time progresses if you make sure to loot as often as possible.

Also you have the ability to rob strangers as they appear in the open world. Simply go up to them, hold to pull up menu of actions, and hold to rob them.


As long as you're remembering to loot most or all enemies you kill, you'll reach 250 dollars fairly early on in the game. This can take a bit of time as most enemies only drop a couple dollars if any money at all, so don't expect this to be completed in a very short amount of time.

The gold bar method has been patched so the easiest way to earn money is to follow the glitch in this video. (Thanks to Reborn Insanity and others for letting me know).

As far as I know, all decent glitches and exploits have been patched, so the easiest way to earn money is via collecting gold bars (thousands of videos on YouTube show these - but many contain spoilers, so I won't link them), or main missions. I would say use the main mission for this, the money is not a lot once you get deep into the story. It is recommended to collect the gold bars in the epilogue.

Once you have enough money to fully upgrade the camp, do so, especially so you can fast travel. Donating just $250 will unlock:


When you have loads of money, head to Saint Denis' tailor. You should be able to fast travel here if you have previously been here.

Make a new save before you enter. When you enter, you should get pickpocketed. Chase the thief, hogtie him and then loot him. If he took more than $250, you will get that money plus a bit extra. He took $490 from me and I gained $610. The reason for saving is that you don't always get the money back. I tested it on three different save files so I believe this event happens for everyone. Please let me know if that is not the case.

By this point, you should already have a good sum of this done, but if not
He should have around $158 on him when you loot him. If you haven't been looting, you can do the save/reload on this or simply replay the mission to loot him.

If you play regulary, i suggest you to loot every body as possible after the big shootouts, before the lawmen arrives. People usually have 50 cents up to a dollar in their pockets, but if you are able to kill bounty hunters, they usually have a lot of cash in their pockets. The amount is between 22 to 31 dollars. There is a mission in Chapter 3 where you have to hunt down a few bounty hunters in the corn fields. This will definetly give you half of the required amount of looted cash onto your progression.

In the clothes store in Saint Denis the first time i entered a guy pickpocketed from me $600. When I chased him down I got my money back and then some. Achievement popped.
