How to unlock the I Need A Nap achievement in Red Faction: Armageddon - Definitive Guide

I finished this a couple weeks ago and this isn't as hard as you'd think!

Start up a New Game Plus from the main menu. Load up your character from your first playthrough (I'm assuming it was done on either Casual or Normal). You'll have all your upgrades and guns from the last runthrough so you'll be all set for the most part!

Enemies on Insane don't do THAT much more damage than enemies on Normal (I did a runthrough on Normal first then did one on insane the day after). The main difference here is how hard it is to kill enemies on Insane. They take probably 2-3 times as many bullets as the enemies on normal. Luckily, ammo is everywhere!

Running through is really no different than running through on normal. I'd advise getting all achievements on single player when going through your first run on casual or normal that way you can run through Insane without having to worry with any pesky achievements. Then when you beat it the first time, you'll unlock "cheats" to make this game a little easier for your Insane run.

Red Faction: ArmageddonCheater! The Cheater! achievement in Red Faction: Armageddon worth 47 pointsBuy a Cheat.

The guy with the top solution here has a great method, but it's a little expensive in terms of salvage, and not all of it really is needed. I was just gonna say that the only "cheat" I used through my whole Insane runthrough is the L.E.O. Machine Gun. It's one of the cheapest "cheats" at only 6,000 salvage and It's pretty powerful and has the infinite ammo, which makes getting ammo no longer a pain. Your Nanotech recharges rather quickly, so I'd avoid the instant recharging Nanotech for 10,000 salvage.. Wayyy too much for something that recharges fast anyway.

Some tips of Insane: Kill off what's in your way, shockwave what you can just to get past, and if you have lots of things firing at your at once, use your handy-dandy shell upgrade and fire away when in your shell. I can say that shell was my best friend in my Insane runthrough. It does make lots of stuff so much easier, plus gives you some time to reheal while in your safe little bubble.

The only parts that might give you a little trouble:

The surface. When you make it onto the surface, you'll be asked to destroy some alien pods (right after you kill the tentacle). Make sure to get the two directly to the side of the tentacle!! If you don't, the tentacle will respawn after you die and with the Behemoth and all the other monsters on the ground around you, it can be a pain to have to get those! I found this out the hard way. And shell works well, but always remember, a Behemoth can charge its way in and still hurt you.

The Mantis. Whenever you're fighting the Mantis and you're in the little car thing, when you make it to the elevator, you'll make it to a checkpoint (which you will need). Idk if I just sucked or what, but I had SO much trouble at this part because I never knew where the enemies were coming from. I can't help too much here, but just circle around and see where fire is coming from and blast em away with your rocket launcher! That was my method.

The aircraft. Right after getting the chip for SAM, you'll have to fly an aircraft. This part was really difficult to me because it seems that the aircraft has almost no shield and bumping into stuff can be devastating, as well as enemies shooting from all directions. I found it useful to move forward slowly, pick off all the guys shooting. (As always when driving a vehicle, keep your thermal vision on with LB). If your shield goes down a lot, just fall back, let it recharge and move forward again. At this part, slow and steady wins the race. Use the same mentality when destroying the power sources. Kill off all the enemies that are bugging you, move forward, take out a power source and go as far as you can until you're getting hurt badly, fall back and try again. It'll take longer than just flying through it, but you're assured to finish. Just be patient with this one.

The barge. I found this one to be rather difficult too, mainly while you're breaking the shield of the machine before you go down even further because enemies are all around you and you can't really get a good aiming spot for them. The part where you're basically in a "lava whirlpool." Now, this part is the exact opposite mentality than the aircraft. Just fire away at the shields and be as fast as you can, that way when it's done, you'll nab a checkpoint and never have to do this hellish mission again. I found this actually to be the hardest part of the game.

Just use some of the tips provided on those parts, and the rest of the game should be a breeze considering you unlocked the L.E.O. Machine Gun. That is hands down the best way to go, imo, especially if you only have enough salvage at the time for one cheat. Good luck. This shouldn't be too hard at all.

LEO Rocket (tri-missile, tri-missile, ~6sec cooldown) is a fun unlock too, and infinite ammo for nano-rifle helps much in building destroying.

Ehh I didn't have much trouble or see much of a difference with damage. The infinity smg is quite nifty like I said. It just takes a while to kill things.

Great solution. Nice tips, they were very helpful. And the L.E.O. Machine Gun was really handy to have.

I saved up money and when I started new game+ I bought the Napalm Laser for 10k. With that gun it was easier than on easy. Took about 7 hours I only died twice on the barge turret part. Next I bougt Instant Nano Cooldown and it was an absolute cakewalk using Shell infanitely.

The LEO machine gun is completely OP lol. I love it. Instant Nano Cooldown is essential IMO. Being able to spam Impact comes in handy for crowd control.

And I was sweating bullets when I got to the lava barge part after reading this guide...Man, that shit was a tropical BREEZE. Not even slightly difficult laugh

Just beat Insane this morning. Having the instant nanoforge cooldown and the fully upgraded shell makes this a breeze. I just kept spamming the shell during all the big battles and enemies essentially shot themselves in the face because their bullets kept reflecting back into them. I bought the LEO machine gun about 2/3 of the way through and it makes the game laughably easy. Schwartz is right-it's completely OP.

The barge was the only area I had a bit of trouble with, but even then I only died a couple of times and then made a clean run.

Good luck, all!

I think the first sentence of this solution should be: cheats do not disable achievements.

What I ended up doing was playing once on normal and then getting all the infestation achievements, so I had almost every upgrade and about 15,000 salvage on hand. I bought the LEO machine gun and saved my remaining salvage until I collected 10,000 during the insane playthrough for instant nanoforge cooldown (by the time you pull together 10k, you're going to appreciate the help). After that, whatever helps you out as far as cheats go -- I found super melee helpful because it one-hits everything smaller than a berserker, which is extremely useful for e.g. wraiths to get them out of your hair as fast as possible, or enemies who wander into your shell.

To beat this easily you will need two cheats which cost 20,000 salvage.
This may seem like alot but you can refund all upgrades you previously bought to get these and going from wave 1-30 in infestation gets you around 10000.

The cheats are
Instant nanoforge cooldown
Napalm laser
With these you have a gun that can one-shot pretty much anything and unlimited access to shell; so if you are low on health you can sit back and recover for a bit in peace. With this combo the game is pretty easy.

I recommend you play the campaign on Casual first. That way you can buy upgrades for Mason and also buy a "cheat" which you can use for your Insane playthrough.

You should be fully leveled and upgraded. And if you have bought any cheats, USE them. They will not interfere in your trophy unlocking.

You can play Insane and unlock the trophy for playing on Hard as well. They are stackable.

To receive these difficulty-related trophies, you must finish the entire campaign without changing the difficulty setting in the options. Insane difficulty is available from the start, and the difficulty trophies are stackable, meaning they can be earned in a single playthrough. Not much will keep players from progressing in Insane difficulty, just make sure to hide if your health gets low. If you can do this, then you shouldn't have much trouble throughout the whole game.

Insane difficulty may prove to be a real challenge if you start on this difficulty on your first playthrough, so I recommend you start on easy/normal on your first playthrough because after you complete the game on any difficulty you unlock new game +. New game + allows you to buy cheats, carry over all your upgrades and weapons from your first playthrough, and unlock a powerful/funny weapon.

I recommend you buy the napalm laser weapon cheat as it is amazingly good. If you have that and the instant nano forge cooldown cheat this playthrough will be a breeze. I recommend that you use your shell ability every time you are low on health or when you are forced to kill all of the enemies before being able to proceed further. To make this playthrough faster, simply run past all enemies you don't have to kill and then use your shell when you are low on health rinse and repeat.

Difficulty achievements do stack, so if you haven't gotten That Coulda Gone Better when you get this, it'll unlock as well.

This achievement is best for the second playthrough of the game. Because after the first passage, the cheats option opens and you can buy them. You will need a machine gun from the LEO exoskeleton and a berserker + protective field. With such an arsenal, you will run through the game at a crazy level as if it were easy.

First playthrough. To buy all the improvements, 600 units were not enough. nanoenergy. So how you go doesn’t really matter.
