How to unlock the Skin of Their Teeth achievement in Redfall - Definitive Guide

Missable Achievement
This come during the A Voice in the Dark main mission which comes very early in the game. When you accept the mission you will get two objectices. Turn off the fake broadcast & Rescue the civilians. Make sure to go & turn the fake broadcast off first as you need a key there to finish the mission at the other location.
Once you are at the rescue civilians objective work your way through and you will eventually see four hostages in the middle of the room and enemies around them.
Stay Hidden and look for the "Excutioner" enemy. Take out as many enemies while staying hidden and take out the executioner first. Once all the enemies are alerted I ran down to the hostages to make sure nobody was attacking them.
Don't forget to release all four hostages by holding
and the achievement will unlock after you complete the mission.

Once I got to the area where the hostages were and executed the executioner and defeated the other enemies, I only had 3 hostages to save and was worried I had messed up, I am playing on normal difficulty and once I finished the mission the achievement still unlocked

Once I got to the area where the hostages were and executed the executioner and defeated the other enemies, I only had 3 hostages to save and was worried I had messed up, I am playing on normal difficulty and once I finished the mission the achievement still unlocked

Missable & Mission Specific
After starting the Mission: A Voice in the Dark you'll be given two locations to visit. The Shipyard to save the hostages and the Control Station to stop the broadcast. When attacking the Shipyard you're free to go in loud or quiet, up until you reach the top floor of the large blue warehouse. Here you'll cross over into another large room with a column of TV's and an executioners stage in the middle. Prioritise killing the Executioner by the 3 or 4 hostages first. Then mop up all remaining Cultists - only the Executioner seems programmed to kill the hostages. Long as you kill the Executioner and don't accidently kill the hostages you should be fine. Once the combat dies down, untie all hostages and complete the remaining mission objectives.
Note: An undetected Sniper headshot on the Executioner seems the best method. The number of hostages seems to vary between 3 or 4.
The Control Station can be attacked anyway you please. There's no hostages there to worry about. The achievement should pop once you complete the mission.

Near the end of the mission, you'll enter a room filled will cultists, and an Executioner walking back an forth on a platform with four hostages.
Snipe the Executioner from the stairs and draw the rest of the fire away from the hostages' location.
When all enemies are down, interact with each hostage to free them. Achievement will pop when you finish the mission (retrieve blueprints from office on a higher level of the same room).

It's worth noting that mission specific achievements like this one are missable because you can't replay missions outside of starting a new character and going through again.

**MISSABLE**
After the main quest, “Two Birds One Stone” in Redfall Commons, you’ll next be presented with 3 separate quests. One of those quests (the bottom one) is called “A Voice in the Dark.”
In “A Voice in the Dark,” you’ll have to head to Dead Catch Records to grab the Shipyard Office Key, and once you’ve done that you’ll have to head to Samuelson’s Shipyard in the northwest corner of Redfall Commons.
After fighting (or sneaking) your way in, you’ll go through a large ship warehouse into another, where there will be 3 hostages at the bottom, near to an executioner. In order to unlock this achievement, you need to complete this with all 3 hostages alive.
If you have a sniper rifle here, this bit is a cakewalk. Basically, from the level you walk in at, snipe the executioner. Wait till he stops and hit him with a headshot. Then, systematically pick off all the other enemies in the area. First targeting the ones on their lonesome first. Even if you miss a few shots, they won’t kill the hostages, instead, they’ll come to try and find you. Take them all out, free the hostages, and then head to the Shipyard Office in the northwest corner. Once you’ve killed Lilith Maclean and picked up the diagrams, this achievement will unlock.
