How to unlock the Fashion is Danger achievement in Remnant: From the Ashes - Definitive Guide

There's a total of 48 armor skins (purely cosmetic) that you can buy from the latest DLC.

If you haven't played in a while, if you look on your minimap in Ward 13, you'll see four blue people icons on the left, go to that room and you'll meet the mute merchant. The merchant is situated right next to the Root Mother.

In order to buy any of the armor skins, you'll need lots of scraps (in-game currency) and Glowing Fragments. Scraps and Glowing Fragments can be earned in Campaign, Adventure, and/or Survival.

In Survival, the bosses will guarantee a drop and if you're lucky, elite and special monsters will drop them too. The same goes for Campaign and Adventure. The higher the difficulty, the more you receive.

Update: Thanks to Amethystine, due to the arrival of new armors in the final DLC, it now only takes a total of 22,000 scraps and 550 Glowing Fragments to earn this achievement. Make sure to exhaust all the helmets and pants first when buying these cosmetic pieces and save chest pieces for last.

You'll need a total of about 26,000-28,000 scraps and about 650 - 675 Glowing Fragments depending on which pieces you buy with chest pieces being the most expensive.

On a side note, in order to equip your skins, just go to your inventory and highlight the skin you bought and you'll see an option at the bottom of the screen that says "cn_X Select Skin."

EDIT:

Now for the farming method. There are two ways but I prefer the latter.

1) Solo Adventure on Hard - You can choose any world you're comfortable with or choosing a world where you need to farm for a particular item can be beneficial. If you get 3 bosses to spawn in a world, the first and second boss will each give 3 x Glowing Fragments, and the last boss will give 5 x Glowing Fragments giving you a total of 11 x Glowing Fragments per 3 boss run on Hard Adventure. Obviously, if you're more skilled, then, by all means, raise it to Apocalypse. If it's similar to Survival, then your fragments received should double to 22 x Glowing Fragments per run. If anyone can confirm this; I will gladly give you credit for it. For me, this takes anywhere between 30 - 60 minutes while trying to make a beeline for each boss and only killing mobs in my direct path on Hard; I imagine it would take longer on Apocalypse.

2) Co-op Corsus Adventure Normal- this method requires a minimum of 2 people. There is a dungeon on Corsus called Fetid Pools with a cage that has 25 Glowing Fragments in it (which is equivalent to 8 bosses on hard). I recommend 2 (best if 3) people start their own game and everyone tries to find The Fetid Pools. Use this picture to find the entrance.

External image

Keep in mind, if you see this entrance, you have five possible dungeon spawns: Hall of Whispers (leads to Dream Eater boss), The Fetid Pools (what you want), Needle Lair (leads to Barbed Terror boss), Strange Pass (leads to a mid-boss called Brain Bug for a new DLC quest) and Iskal Temple that leads to the Iskal Queen fight. If you see any entrance that does not match the picture, skip it and look elsewhere. Each rolled world in Adventure can have 3 potential bosses or 2 bosses, and an event quest or a combination. So for example, if you see the areas that lead to The Thrall, The Unclean One, and Ixilis bosses, then you can safely reroll your world to try again. Once one person finds it, they invite the other people into their world.

Once you enter The Fetid Pools, you and your partner must find a Rusted Amulet (the only purple item in the dungeon) that's usually found behind an orangeish-reddish breakable wall (melee or shoot it) or lying somewhere on the ground. Comb every inch of the dungeon! One person picks it up, everyone gets it. Have one person equip the Rusted Amulet, crouch and stay still in an acid pool found in the dungeon until you become corroded. If it doesn't work the first time, try using another pool.

Use these images as reference.

External image

External image

This will turn the Rusted Amulet into an Acid Cleansed Key. DO NOT let the next person convert their amulet to a key until the current Acid Cleansed Key is used on a door. You'll find a checkpoint to the north of the dungeon where you'll see several locked doors surrounding the checkpoint. Use the first Acid Cleansed Key on the door seen in this picture.

External image

Then have the 2nd person equip their Rusty Amulet, go back to the acid pool, and repeat the process. Then once you receive the 2nd Acid Cleansed Key, head back to the checkpoint area and go up the stairs of the door you just opened and you'll see a door on the right with a bunch of red Glowing Fragments in there as seen in this picture.

External image

Use the key to open that and receive your 25 x Glowing Fragments. Reroll Adventure on Corsus and repeat. Each run, if lucky, can take about 25-35 minutes. The hard part of doing this is getting The Fetid Pools to spawn in your world. Sometimes, because of RNG, it can take a while to get The Fetid Pools, but with 3 people, someone should eventually run into it. Best run I had was with 3 people. In 2 hours, we got 125 x Glowing Fragments. Thanks to KushedxX and Dragon Tengu for running it with me to confirm that the 25 x Glowing Fragments are there when you reroll.

UPDATE: Gutsy Goddess recommended that I make a video for the players that don't like to read giant walls of text. Thank you Gutsy Goddess for your assistance in making this video. The first door is already open from a Rusted Amulet from a previous attempt (Yes, you can save Rusted Amulets but only one per person if you have 3 so only 2 people will use their amulets unless you want to open more doors in the area).

Finally, I am aware that you can do this method solo but the amount of time needed to reroll both Campaign and Adventure (or finding the Fetid Pools twice in Adventure mode) will exponentially increase the amount of time needed to gain the required number of Glowing Fragments to get the achievement. If it takes a group of people 30 minutes to do it, by yourself, even if RNG is on your side can take you up to 3-4 hours minimum for only 25 fragments. You're better off doing method # 1 or 2 instead.

If there's anything else I need to add, change or improve upon, please let me know in the comments.

Hey Bully,

If you're unable to talk to him, try going into the Labyrinth first and come back out. It's also possible that you may need at least one Glowing Fragment to trigger him to be able to trade with you. I just played a few games and failed and went to see where he was and he spawned.

My brother and I have beaten multiple bosses on Earth while going for other stuff (Adventure on Normal), and neither of us have received a single Glowing Fragment up to this point. And yes, both of us have each paid for the dlc and downloaded the recent update.

I apologize Gintama. I meant to update the solution. You need to be playing on Hard at minimum to receive Glowing Fragments for Campaign/Adventure but for Survival on Normal, enemies and bosses will drop Glowing Fragments. Thank you for pointing that out.

Really great method! (although sometimes our Rusted Amulet refuses to turn into a key at times) got over 200 glowing fragments today using this alone!

Ive collected a Rusted Amulet and converted it to a key that I have then used. If I am playing solo, when I re-roll to get the Fetid Pools again, can I save the key that I will earn that time to re-roll again and have a second key on the one character?

The Queen gives you a sigil the when you meet her for the first time... you can then use this sigil to light up a tower (3 max) to get the labyrinth armour set. When you use it on the tower a 3rd time(1st 2 times offers up 2 traits) it rewards you with 25 glowing fragments. You must enter the teleporter where the armour set is to remove the sigil and reset the tower to 0 again. Doing this means you also need to meet the Queen to reobtain the sigil.

You must find the tower on 3 different adventure runs as you can only light 1 piece per run. This is continuously repeatable and can be a bit more reliable for solo players as the tower appears on all worlds after obtaining the sigil.

This reads alot but you do come across this tower quite often when farming the pools. You can also join a friend when they are unlocking their 3rd light and everyone there gets the fragments. So working these aswell as pools can be rewarding...especially as a group of 3.

Correct me if I'm wrong but if I recall, you can only "meet" the Queen on Campaign right? On Adventure, she becomes a boss instead. It's been a while but thank you for letting me know what that teleporter next to that obelisk did. I remember going there one time and seeing nothing and just left.

@FR MATTUU

The tower is just randomly found in the swamp. However, I've only seen it a handful of times and every time I did see it, it was very close to a checkpoint. The tower itself is considered an event too therefore it may appear or not appear sometimes just like the Fetid Pools.

Great guide, when you actually get the pools lol. Don't know if they nerfed it, or we have bad luck. My wife and I have been farming this for probably a total of 4+ hours and have gotten the pools twice. What's worse... it's still faster than running survival.

Does anyone know if there is a "cheese" similar to the PC and PlayStation strategy which utilizes a cloud save exploit. i.e. is there any method of getting the loot, leaving, loading the checkpoint, and getting the loot again? Possibly with two people? Just wondering, thank you.

The third (unmentioned) method is playing survival. If you can consistently get to around wave 6 or further I'd say its a much better time investment. Earth adventure has been taking me 40-60 mins for 8 or 11 (depending on boss spawns) glowing fragments. My 10 boss run on survival gave me something like 46 iirc in around an hour and 40 mins.

pain in the ass, but unless you love to play this game legit to get the missing fragments once your done all the other achievements, the glitch method with Fetid Pools seems to be the way to go although your at the mercy of RNG. The odds arent great. But beating bosses in adventure mode or survival aint always a guarantee & it is time consuming the same. I did the Fetid Pool, had enough of the grind about half way of what I had left to get but stuck with it to the end for the achievement. It's an OK game but few flaws like no hip fire or decent guidance throughout campaign. Too much walking around. I actually enjoyed Survival more than anything but had way enough of it by the time I got the achievement. No surprise I didnt even hear about this game when it came out back in 2019. Dungeons? uhm... ok

I don’t know if anyone wants to hear this but by far the fastest way is Survival. A 10 boss run on Hard got me close to 60 fragments and my latest 9 boss run got me 55. Even on Normal, it’s way worth it. It doesn’t involve stupid RNG and if you’re good enough to play to at least round 6 on Hard that alone will net you 30 fragments in a short time. I know it may be harder than glitching the game but at least you are playing the game, trying to improve at something instead of mindlessly retry for good RNG.

The problem with survival is that the hardest floors are often the first two (until much later) because you're at the mercy of drops. If you go through a biome and die to the first boss, that's usually going to take 10 minutes even if you're fast, for possibly nothing to show for it. Survival is only good if you can get deep runs every time.

It's far faster to use the blink glitch on the fetid pools to get glowing fragments. You can clear a good run of 25 fragments in about 10-15 minutes depending on RNG (that includes world rerolls), that's far faster than trying to clear a world of all 3 bosses, and far less stress.

Unfortunately Dobo1912KNIGHT, the key must be used which means if the key is not used in that rolled world, it'll disappear when you reroll so if you really insist on doing it solo (I would seriously still consider doing a boosting session to find people) then what you'll need to do is:

1) Find the Fetid Pools and grab a Rusted Amulet and quit.

2) Reroll till you find the Fetid Pools again. Clear the dungeon, convert the Rusted Amulet to a key and open the first door. Find the amulet (this should be the second one) of that dungeon and convert that key to open the second door with the glowing fragments.

***Do NOT pick up the Rusted Amulet until the first one is cleansed to a key. If you pick up another Rusted Amulet while you already have one in your inventory, you'll just get scraps instead.***

Hope that answers your question.

Great guide, I very much appreciate the explanation of the Fetid Pools farming method! :}

But, I'd like to point out that the estimate of '650-675' glowing fragments is now out of date! With the new DLC, you can perhaps have around 18 or 19 sets of armor in total.

I had 18 and if you just buy all the helmet skins, and all the pant skins, that's 36 skins, then just 4 chest skins gives you 40 in total.

It cost 22,000 scrap exactly and 550 glowing fragments (180 for all the helmets, 270 for the pants and 100 for the 4 chests).

I had amassed 605 fragments before I went to check how many fragments I would need, exactly.

Anyway, this is assuming you have both DLCs and have gotten all the armor you could, of course. (I don't have the Warlord armor yet, myself, I'm waiting for that unobtainable achievement to be patched.)

If you do the fetid pools method with 2 other friends, each player doing solo in their own game it is significantly faster than playing survival.

I was able to do a single run of searching the map in adventure mode in 6 minutes. In approximately 2 hours I was able to knock out 40% of this achievement with 2 of us searching in our own games.

When one person locates the fetid pools dungeon everyone joins that players game, equip the blink token mod and run to the glowing fragment cage. No need for a key, just do the “glitch” method to get the doors open for free and off you go.

One single cage buys you an entire chest skin.

This is by far the most efficient way to get the fragments. One run of survival could take upward of 2 hours, netting you anywhere from 45-80 fragments dependent on drop luck and how many bosses you kill (over 10 before the fragment payoff starts getting good) and in this same amount of time you only need 3/4 spawns of fetid pools to have an equal or greater amount of fragments. The more people you have searching the better.

Don’t waste your time with survival.

You only get maybe 2-3 extra Glowing Fragments from completing both bosses on Nightmare in an Adventure run, not really worth it if it take you extra time, just stick with Hard.

Also if you're doing Adventure, might help to keep going back to the Iskal Queen for a fresh Cryptolith Sigil. Each three uses at the Cryptolith Tower will get you 25 Glowing Fragments(Make sure you enter the nearby teleporter that leads to the Labyrinth Armor set each time you use the Sigil three times, otherwise the Tower won't reset), but you'll then lose the Sigil and have to find the Queen again to get a new one. I say might because it's all random chance if you find the Tower and the Queen anyway.

Ended up just using the Fetid Pools Blink Token glitch and the Cryptolith Tower for my last 250-350 Glowing Shards. It's too long of a boring grind other wise.

In addition to Mr. SyncTheTempest's excellent guide above, I'd like to add a little twist that my coop partners and I came up with, to the coop method mentioned in his guide. With this, you will need to find the fetid pools dungeon only twice, which will significantly reduce the amount of time needed to farm all the 550 glowing fragments required for this achievement. You can get it done in no longer than 1 hour once everything is set up (no kidding).

The trick is simply to use the good 'n' old cloud saving manipulation. Follow Mr. SyncTheTempest's guide to the letter, but once you open the second door with the 25 glowing fragments in it, DON'T pick up the glowing fragments just yet! Here's what you must do:

1 - The host must save the game, and then completely close the game. Go to the dashboard and wait about 1 or 2 minutes so that your save will sync with the cloud.

2 - Open the game again, and then invite your teammates to the game.... Then collect the 25 glowing fragments. The guests must leave the session as soon as the glowing fragments are collected.

3 - The host will now quickly delete the LOCAL save (without closing the game!!!). Then open the game again and recover the save from the cloud.

4 - Now load your save, invite the guests, and you will notice that the 25 glowing fragments are back again, ready to be collected again...

Just repeat the steps 2, 3 and 4 above until you have enough fragments. Please notice that this method will only work for the guests, so all of this will have to be done twice, so the guy that hosted first may benefit from this as well. But even so, it will be much, much faster than doing the farm without cloud saving manipulation.

If you prefer a video guide for reference, I'll link a video that my coop bro MasterJoaoFelip created:

you need 2 people. do adventures swamp of corsus. at the first location, look for a spire with an entrance, in this spire a “stinking ponds” map should be generated, look on the map for a purple object “rusty amulet” (do not pick up) if there is one, then the host who has the card comes out and throws the save into the cloud. go to the map, pick up an amulet on your neck and on the same map there are green puddles, get into the puddle and don’t move. the amulet will turn into a purified key, you will have 2 of them. on the same map there will be closed doors, behind one of them there will be a ladder, with one key we open it at the top, we open the second door with red fragments, there are 25 of them. We select and save ourselves at the fire. the host exits and copies the MIR file from the cloud to the system. connect and repeat everything all over again. The circle took us 6 minutes. in total you need 550 fragments, 18 hats of 10 fragments each, 18 pants of 15 each and 4 armor of 25 each.

Red easy shards are farmed in survival mode. I advise you to first knock out the trophy for 10 bosses, and then finish off the latest craze

Everything written above is correct. But I don’t advise you to bother with saves, it’s simply not necessary.
Runs in 2m with a friend and look for the desired location, as one found, we connect to him and do it, disperse and repeat.
Plus, while you knock out 10 bosses, you will knock out 130-200 fragments. The higher the difficulty, the more fragments.

In addition to 25 flickering crystals, you can also obtain additional materials. The method was described in the hint for platinum. You can also buy half of the skins. Throw the save into the cloud/flash drive. Get the trophy by purchasing other skins. Reset your save after receiving the trophy and buy a cool cat ring with these fragments. The character survives the fatal blow.

Alternative solo farming for the greedy:
  • We find the above dungeon with a rusty amulet, do not touch anything
  • We save the MIR to the cloud/flash drive (this is our control point, so that we can roll back if we mess up somewhere)
  • We go in, take the rusty amulet and put it on ourselves
  • Save the CHARACTER to the cloud/flash drive
  • Swimming in a green puddle, getting a key
  • We open the first door, don’t take anything yet
  • Loading the CHARACTER back into the console
  • Repeat bathing and opening the door until you get bored or run out of doors
  • We save the WORLD with already open doors to the cloud

Now you have a save with open doors. You can load and take all the loot, without restrictions)

probably the most tedious trophy that can be greatly simplified:
- they give 5 shards per boss on hard difficulty, so after the first playthrough, do all NG+ and adventures and searches for bosses/armor on hard - the difficulty is not much higher, the mobs just hit harder, but you can farm some shards;
- red shards are farmed in survival, so first knock out the trophy for 10 bosses;
- I don’t know how they count, but the trophy dropped, and 13 (!) pieces of armor have not yet been purchased from me; in the full version, at the beginning of the game they give skins for the default armor, they also count towards credit; therefore: first buy all the hats, then the pants, lastly the chest armor (the first ones are cheaper, buy more items for fewer crystals); if you played a lot of survivals and adventures on hard, farming may not be necessary;
Let’s further simplify our friend’s diagram above:
  • in adventure we are looking for the location of fetid ponds
  • we find a rusty amulet, don’t take it, save at the fire and drop the “world” file into the cloud
  • we go back and wait for someone to join your game, take the amulet, put it on and sit in the puddle, 2 keys will appear in your inventory (it’s better to immediately ask the dude through the microphone, not everyone knows about the trick with the amulet and the key)
  • I recommend draining the dude so that he doesn’t ruin your farm; open the door to the balcony, open the door to the crystals, DO NOT take the crystals, save at the fire and again throw the “world” file into the cloud
  • We load the location with the doors already open, all that remains is to take the crystals, save at the fire and load again X times until the trophy!
