How to unlock the First…But Not The Last! achievement in Remnant: From the Ashes - Definitive Guide
In this video guide I will show you what a tome of knowledge looks like and go over how to get traits, upgrade them, how to get mods, and upgrading weapons.
Now right from the start you can simply upgrade one trait you start with to level ten first, if you want for the achievement. You will need to get some trait points first. You will be able to get more trait points by doing missions, killing enemies, and picking up the tomes of knowledge throughout the maps. The tomes are random so keep an eye out for an easy upgrade. I have at the end of my video what they look like. Just be sure to keep upgrading the traits until you get all the achievements related to them.
Now for the upgrading the weapons. You will be given a tutorial on how to get them and upgrade them. Just talk o the armory guy in the back room to be able to upgrade them as well as buy new guns. Now you won't be able to get the level ten achievement right away because you will need harder resources in the game to get them to level ten. Same will be for the higher the weapon gets. Just pay attention to the items you pick up from enemies and go get the upgrades you want. The upgrade materials required will be on the bottom right of the screen when selecting the weapon to upgrade. Make sure to keep upgrading your weapons to get all the related achievements to them and make the game easier.
Now for the mods. The woman that is behind the guy that upgrades you weapons will be the person giving them to you. There will also be a tutorial for her as well. Just go up to her to either buy the mods or craft them. Later on in the game you will get the option to craft more. You will see the requirements in the bottom right of the screen when selecting the mod to craft. Once you get the item by either killing an enemy or looting, return to her for the mod. Keep acquiring mods until you get all the achievements related to them.

After the tutorial, you will wake up in a bunker. After talking to the child, head out the door and into the door with the red light and talk to the Commander. After that head down the nearby stairs, through the armory on the left, turn right when you make it to the infirmary and head down the stairs one level to the reactor. After talking to the character there, you will choose an archetype and unlock the achievement.
This achievement unlocks after acquiring your first trait, excluding the ones you start with. You can find a list of 30 traits in the description for "Unleash Your Potential", however it's worth noting you can find a very useful trait at the start of the game that can serve to unlock this achievement and is worth highlighting here to help you early on. The trait is 'Elder Knowledge' and can be found in Ward 13, the hub area and can be picked up before beginning the first chapter. See the description for "Unleash Your Potential" for a more specific location.
