Now once you have that he will give you the trait scavenger to be able to collect more scrap when you pick it up. Now hopefully you get this early on and save some grinding. I would make sure you upgrade this right away to ease the painful grind.

Ways to farm for scrap would be to explore and break as many breakables like wooden boxes. You can also open some up as well so keep an eye out. Now these will change into other breakable items and other crates to open. Just make sure to pay attention. Now you can also simply stay in one area and kill the enemies over and over again and return to the checkpoint crystal to make them re-spawn. Either way this will take awhile and I would save this for last, but make sure you upgrade the scavenger trait all the way first.
