The 11/14/23 update which accompanied The Awakened King for Remnant II increased the maximum number of trait points to 85. Even though I don't own the DLC, I had to find 85 Tomes of Knowledge to unlock this.

I was wondering about this achievement. I have 80 trait points and it still hasn't popped. Im in the same situation as you - I don't own the DLC. I also need to get the 20 traits achievement. These last two achievements are a pain!

Max number of trait points is 65, not 60 as previously called out, maybe an update made that change but numerous users are saying its popping up in 65 plus you see that you keep getting trait points up to 65 where you can actively use them. after that you cant get any more even though they appear to pop.
To get trait points you can play normally and get them naturally, play adventure mode and in each roll you get 1-2, and also join others to speed things up.

You’ll need to acquire 60 Trait Points and allocate them for this trophy to unlock. You can easily keep track of what you have in your Traits tab of your main menu. At the top it will say “52 Total Trait Points.” This refers to the points you have earned (the white dots) and not those that are tied to Archetypes and what not (orange dots).
You’ll get this just for playing and replaying sections to defeat World Bosses in instances that you’ve not yet experienced and so on, because you’ll not only get Trait Points for collecting Tomes of Knowledge dotted around the world, but for defeating bosses and completing events and side quests as well. Don’t stress this one, because if you’re going for the lot, you’ll get this one comfortably.

To find tomes, it’s easier to reroll Yeasha - Forbidden Grove. The tome lies right on the ground somewhere in the location, it takes 3-4 minutes per wound
