You can either solo this encounter or bring the other character in this fight. As the main character have the grenade launcher and magnum and have your AI character use the shotgun. This encounter should be as easy as the first encounter with the Proto Tyrant.

I used custom handgun and Rebecca soloed the Tyrant on Hard difficulty. Took me about 30 bullets. No shotgun or Magnum ammos wasted.
