How to unlock the Lore Explorer achievement in RESIDENT EVIL 2 - Definitive Guide
Hey guys, PowerPyx has a video up detailing all the collectables (files, Mr Raccoon's, Safes & Locks, Key Items and Maps)
In order to collect all files you will need to play all 4 campaigns, but for the Mr Raccoons you only need to play through Leon A/Claire B or Claire A/Leon B scenarios. Keep a tally of what you've collected so you don't have to replay an additional scenario for them!
Addendum: The chess puzzle and various other puzzles will change according to which scenario( A or B) you are playing, please see below for those details:
Chess Pieces:
A: Knight - King
Rook - Queen
Bishop - Pawn
B: King - Knight
Bishop - Rook
Queen - Pawn
Greenhouse Codes:
A: 3123 - 2067
B: 2048 - 5831
Lab Mixture:
A: RGB RGB RG
B: BRG BRG BRG

You don't have to play all 4 campaigns to collect all Mr. Raccoons. You only have to play a single scenario (Leon A + Claire B) or vice versa.

I’m not sure that’s true. I’ve triple checked at this point and I think I need the Claire memos from Leon B. I’ve retraced every step, not sure what else it could be.

In this video guide I will show you how read all the files, destroy all Mr. Raccoons, open all safes and locks, and expand inventory slots to max. I will not be showing and of the ways to solve puzzles just where all the collectibles and sometimes a brief description of what's right before it in case you might have gone too far. Everything can be obtained up until you get on the tram in the sewers. Once you reach NEST there is NO POINT OF RETURN.

In case you didn't already know, beating the game allows you to play the other characters story, which will be somewhat different. You'll need to do each story, Leon A and Claire B; then Claire A and Leon B.
For optimal results, make a seperate save BEFORE using the cable car to access the Lab, this is the point of no return to the Police Station, compare to this list and backtrack if needed. Some parts are locked, such as Ada's part, after you finish them, so stay vigilant.
The last one I needed, after several playthroughs, was file #50, in the bathroom where Irons washes the chemicals off his face when you play as Claire.

If you are carefully searching each area/room, then you will not miss any files, besides possibly one [Bryan Cartwright's Note (Laboratory/Any Character [Any Story])]. It is only to be retrieved after you have at least Security Clearance Level III. Interact with the Laptop Computer in the Presentation Room of the Laboratory's West Area then, to access the relative File.
These four Files are the only additions required to retrieve, outside of both Characters' Initial Stories (It is what you need to know):
Leon's Memo (Police Station/Claire [2nd Story])
Claire's Memo (Police Station/Leon [2nd Story])
Leon's Note (Sewers/Claire [2nd Story])
Claire's Note (Sewers/Leon [2nd Story])
The relative progress is shared from the progression across the 21 save states, and saved immediately on pickup.
To check your relative progress:
-MENU/Records/Lore Explorer (58)
-Inventory screen(VIEW/Y)/Documents(LB/RB)
Points of no return (accessible range):
1st (Police Station/Sewers): Sewers / Monitor Room (Head to the Lab) [When using the Lever inside the Tram]
2nd (Laboratory): Laboratory / P-4 Level Testing Lab (Get the 'antiviral agent/G-Virus sample' in the West Area) [When interacting with a lab chute inside that Lab]
That concludes what is relatively essential to know, but I shall provide complete details about Story specific Files (25):

After reading the other guides, I wanted to add my own because this is info I spent some time researching when going after this achievement.
In the Records menu, you can tell how many files out of 58 that you have found. However, it does not tell you which ones you have found. Either you obtain every single file again, or you figure out which ones you are missing.
1. Don't delete your final save in each scenario until you unlock this achievement so it's easy to see what you're missing.
2. For the achievement, you need to find the file and flip through all the pages for it to count. This will increase your achievement file count. It does not matter if you die afterwards or delete the saved game. However if you do die, it might be a good idea to collect the file again so you have an accurate personal record of which files you collected.
3. The File List link below has a file checklist by location which matches up with how they are displayed in the game. Use this to figure out what you are missing. Do this as soon as you finish your first Scenario A. Go back and get the ones you are missing.
https://stevivor.com/guides/resident-evil-2-files-guide-obta...
4. Once you reach The Nest, you can't return to get files you missed. At the minimum, you must reach the Scenario B Cable Car Platform in the sewers your 2nd time on the character you didn't play the first time to get all the files and unlock this achievement.
The following is a list of tricky files that are exclusive for that character or scenario and checkpoints. The remaining files can be obtained in any Scenario.

I couldn't get this one for the longest time even though I thought I had been thorough and cleared every room on the map. It turns out I was missing one in the bathroom of the orphanage (on the 2nd floor), Sherry can't grab this one but Claire can.
This can be achieved in multiple playthroughs, as long as you've picked up every file at least once before.

There are 83 files to find and read throughout the game. You will need to play all 4 of the main campaigns to find them all. The video below has all of the locations of these, along with all other collectibles in the game.

From personal experience...
When you play through Claire's campaign, don't forget to check out the second floor of the orphanage. Not everything readable can be taken for Sherry.
I personally forgot the last file there.
All other notes, memos, etc., as a rule, are in more obvious and visited places.

To collect all the files, you will need to go through the game 3 times - Scenario A for any character (you will collect almost everything), Scenario B for Claire (you will find notes from Leon + play as Sherry), Scenario B for Leon (you will find notes from Claire + play as Ada).
The trophy should drop in the sewers, next to the cable car, when you complete scenario B for the second time as a different character. If it doesn't fall out, it means you missed something. But in any case, I advise you to postpone this trophy for later. For platinum, you will have to go through the game several times, so if you complete the collection, you will hardly have to knock out this trophy separately and look for something.
And one more thing - if a room is indicated in red on the map, it means there is an object there. If it's blue, it means there are no items. But this does not apply to text files. If the room is painted blue, then it is not a fact that there are no unread files left there. Therefore, carefully explore the locations.

I went through all walkthroughs A and B with a video about all the collections, but they didn’t give me an achievement on the last one! stuck somewhere! I started replaying everything because I couldn’t figure out where!
If anyone has the same situation, you can easily check by loading the last saved A and B scenarios one by one.
