How to unlock the Sizzling Scarlet Hero achievement in RESIDENT EVIL 2 - Definitive Guide

As mentioned in the achievement title, you need to complete Claire's story on Standard or Hardcore with S-rank or higher. you CAN'T get this on Assisted difficulty. you only need to get an S-rank or higher once, across scenario A and B for each character. doesn't matter if you go for it on Claire A or B scenario. However, you have 30 minutes less time on scenario B than you have on scenario A.
The main important thing to get an S or S+ rank is the completion time. not sure if the death counts but just in case quit to the main menu whenever you're about to die and it won't count as a death.
on Standard difficulty, you get few auto saves which is really helpful If you quit the game to avoid dying. On Hardcore, you can only save manually and there is no auto save. If you quit the game, you go back to your last save. Here is a list of how to get Infinite ammo and the required time to finish the game for S or S+ rank :

Standard Difficulty: Beat The Game Within 3:30:00 Hours for A Scenarios(New Game) or Within 3:00:00 for B Scenarios(New Game(2nd Run))
Rewards: S+ Rank/ Infinite Samurai Edge Pistol Ammo(Obtainable with S rank or higher) / Leon 'S.' Kennedy Achievement for Leon/ Sizzling Scarlet Hero Achievement for Claire

Hardcore Difficulty: Beat The Game Within 2:30:00 Hours for A Scenarios or 2:00:00 for B Scenarios
Rewards: S+ Rank/ Infinite LE 5 Submachine Gun Ammo (Obtainable with S rank or higher)

Infinite Combat Knife : Find and Shoot all 15 Mr.Raccoons

Infinite ATM-4 Rocket Launcher : Beat Leon's story on Hardcore difficulty with S+ rank

Infinite Minigun: Beat Claire's story on Hardcore difficulty with S+ rank

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you don't care about ATM-4 Rocket Launcher/ Minigun Infinite ammo and only want the achievements, I suggest you do this on Standard. It is less pain. also you get Infinite Samurai Edge Pistol Ammo for both Claire and Leon and you can use it to beat the game on Hardcore for Hardcore Rookie / Hardcore College Student achievements.

NOTE: If you want the S+ rank DO NOT save more than 3 times. doesn't matter what difficulty you are playing on. This will restrict your rank to S and you can't get the S+. however, S-rank is enough for the achievements.

NOTE: Using any of the 5 Infinite ammo weapons will restrict your rank to S.

NOTE: If your mind is not clear about what to do next, progress your game with a guide. here is a link to Resident Evil fandom. you can click on any item you don't remember where to find and see where It is. (https://residentevil.fandom.com/wiki/Category:Resident_Evil_...)
Also, try to find the puzzle solutions online and don't attempt to solve them yourself. they can take an unnecessary amount of time. I personally wasted 6 minutes on the Jail electric panel.

NOTE: Manage Your Recourses. Stock Up Ammo. you don't get much near the end and you have at least two boss fights to kill. I had to go hand to hand with Super Tyrant because I had only 10 bullets left and I needed them to avoid his Insta kill move later.

NOTE: I suggest you do this on A Scenarios. because you don't have to deal with Stage 5 G at the end.

NOTE: Time won't pass when you pause. you can see the timer on the top right corner of the screen.

UPDATE: Time DOES pass when you are using the item box or map. pause the game ONLY using the menu button.

Alright, guys, I did my best to try and explain everything. this is one of my few long solutions, so forgive me If there is anything you don't like about it. If you had any further question please ask. Happy Huntingtoast

My husband has just completed this achievement on standard he died twice and continued and still got an "S" rank. Think it is mostly based on time as he used health spays and herbs and saved 5 times. Completed in 2 hours 31 mins.

Make sure you pause with the menu button and not on the map screen because in-game time will still pass while you're looking at the map.

Time also still passes in the Item Box. And on the Item screen, if you're moving things around. Only way to stop time to take a break is PAUSE.

I screwed myself out of maybe half an hour, going for food while in the item screen (where the game seems paused), then overwriting my save.

You do not need a S+ rank for the Samurai Edge with unlimited ammo. I finished on standard difficulty with S and got it

If you die reload the last save DO NOT click continue. Loading is going to take you to the same place as continue anyway but the clock keeps running when you continue.

Note: times continues if you die and press continue or if you press load save. To avoid getting extra time just press continue and then load again from the start menu.

If you don't have time or skills to beat the game on S rank you can buy the key item for 5-6$ in the shop. The key unlocks all infinite weapons. Now you can go for S rank and hardcore in one playthrough with the rocket launcher. Achievment hunting for beginners :)

Honestly I find the first G fight (Claire) in the NEST easiest if you start with an Acid Round to stun G-Birkin, then run around the back of him and use the MQ11 to pop the back eyeball first, then get away from him so when he does get up, he'll turn around to face you, and then you can SMG his left knee eyeball and right bicep eyeball. After you close those three, he opens up his abdominal cavity exposing about a dozen eyeballs, which again, use the MQ11 to pop those. After he recovers, just repeat the process starting with the Acid Round. That strategy for me is a two-cycle fight, and he grabs the wall and throws it after the second back eyeball pop.

Also note if you're on B Scenario, Final-G doesn't take ANY damage until the mouth-eyeball appears, once it's out, OPEN FIRE!!!

As far as the G's in the sewers in Claire's scenarios, best bet is the SLS upgraded with the heavier ammo, takes one round to take off the shielding, then about three to four more to pop the eyeball and down 'em depending on your aim and their movement.

Going back to the Lickers in the Station and NEST, as well as the Ivys, one Flame Round if they're on the ground (because they'll sit in the fire created by the GL round and keep catching fire causing continuous damage), two if they're on the ceiling (or in the case of the Ivys in NEST, the first one you find suspended from the ceiling before the walking one you encounter on the way to the Dispensation Room), because they won't be sitting in the fire puddle created by the Flame Round, so you'll have to reload your GL and fire again, but wait 'til they're out of stun but before the Licker can lunge (or the Ivy on the ground is stuck in stun on the ground but the fire has died out; you'll know they'll be getting back up on your next pass if they've sprouted tendrils that are moving, you'll know they WON'T be getting back up if after the fire dies down a bit, their whole body re-ignites and they let out a death scream).

As far as the Tyrant (Mr. X) goes, just avoid him like the plague, and first G-Birkin keep your distance and keep assaulting the right bicep eye until he buggers off over the railing. As for second G-Birkin, again with the Acid Round to stun (if you can) and hit the back eyeball first, and either that or just assault the right bicep eyeball (he never fixes that weakness, does he?), and once you've got his extra eyeballs good and red, that's a good time to have the crane come swingin' 'round to knock him in the pit with that suspended shipping container, which if you get him good and red before first swing with the container, that's an achievement earned for getting him on the first try in the fight.

As far as Claire-B (my go-to so far), just use the six-shooter throughout the Station, using gunpowder to make 9mm rounds for the SLS for later in the Sewer and the HP after you get it in the Garage, don't really worry about Acid Rounds until the Sewer, by which point you'll have a good supply of white gunpowder, which you'll also be using to make SMG Ammo for the MQ11, which you'll be using a good bit of from second G-Birkin fight on to the end. Use your Flame Rounds ONLY on Lickers and Ivys, maybe on G-Birkin in NEST if you don't have any Acid Rounds (yet, but you should by then), especially since Flame Rounds are wasted on zombies and the G's in the Sewers (since they're swimming in liquid they can douse off in). Otherwise, just be mindful of your ammo consumption.

Also, my LB's been broken since last August, so if you were wondering why I didn't bring up anything about sub-weapons, there's your answer. I'm getting by just fine without 'em anyway, but fingers crossed I replace my controller soon, gonna need those sub-weapons on LB to do Hunk's run in 4th Survivor and the Sheriff's point-defense in the gas station.

Other than that, keep your powder dry ladies and gents, and one more thing, you'll find enough herbs to make at least ten GRB's and probably find about half a dozen or so health sprays, but you won't need 'em on Assisted if you're careful enough, considering I got my no-heal run done tonight on Claire-B in under 3:30:00 for an S without healing.

Actually, even though I already 1000G-ed the game, I still have difficulty beating Birkin G5 in the 2nd run / Scenario B. G5 just ate my Claire every time and I still haven't found a consistent way to defeat it. Any advice?

ImaginaryRuins@ just shoot it with whatever you got. I suggest keeping your best ammo for when the eyeball pops up. If you're low on ammo, search the room with the item box in it completely. If I remember correctly I found enough material to make 50 handgun bullets. that should be enough to put him down.

These are the required time limits for S rank. It's a little different for 1st and 2nd runs.
It's in the guide, but I definitely missed it so I figured I'd put it here too for anyone who doesn't read whole sentences like me lol.

Leon A (Standard): 3 hours 30 minutes
Leon B (Standard): 3 hours
Claire A (Standard): 3 hours 30 minutes
Claire B (Standard): 3 hours
Leon A (Hardcore): 2 hours 30 minutes
Leon B (Hardcore): 2 hours
Claire A (Hardcore): 2 hours 30 minutes
Claire B (Hardcore): 2 hours.

In this video guide I will show you how I got an S rank with Claire. In order to get an S rank on standard you need to complete the game in under three and a half hours, or on hardcore in under two and a half hours. I will be going through the game and giving some insight and tips where need be.

In order to get a S Rank, you must play the game on either Standard or Hardcore difficulty. Assisted will not unlock you the achievement. The requirements are as follows:

A Story - 3:30:00 for S Rank
B Story - 3:00:00 for S Rank

You need to learn everything you possibly can about the game. Learn the locations of key items and how to progress fastest. Know the positions of healing items, ammo and grenades. Avoid damage from regular zombies to save healing items for fights against G. SAVE YOUR GRENADE LAUNCHER ROUNDS!! Lickers and G are the only things I recommend ever using them on.

Obviously, time is very important here and I'd recommend starting over if you don't exit the RPD within 45 minutes or so. The RPD is the longest part of the game for me so try and learn it to do it fast. Luckily, its possible to beat the game in less than 2 hours so the time we need to beat is generous.

Good luck!

Complete either Claire's Campaign A or B on at least Standard with an S rank to unlock this. The ranking system in this game is based purely on the time it takes for you to complete the game. This achievement and "Leon "S." Kennedy" above, can be attempted along with other game-long achievements and should be done on subsequent playthroughs as opposed to attempted from the start. If you are competent at the game, or have purchased the DLC weapons, this achievement and "Leon "S." Kennedy" can be attempted with ease, in conjunction with "Hardcore College Student" and "Hardcore Rookie" respectively, to cut down on playtime.

The required times are as follows;

  • Standard - 3 hours, 30 minutes or less
  • Hardcore - 2 hours, 30 minutes or less

With an understanding of the game, its puzzles, and where to go, these achievements are easily obtained, especially with the very overpowered DLC weapons.

Everything is the same as for Leon: Part "A" - 3.30 on normal and 2.30 on hard, Part "B" - 3.00 on normal and 2.00 on hard. One nuance, on this playthrough you can use endless ammunition on the pistol, which will be unlocked by rank S for Leon.

The game also has an S+ rank
To get it you need to fulfill S conditions, plus make no more than 3 saves and not use bonus weapons.
When passing on S+ in Hardcore mode, Claire will be given a Gatling Gun with infinite ammo; when passing on S+ in Hardcore mode, Leon will be given a Rocket Launcher with infinite ammo.

Quite an easy trophy than it might seem at first glance, since you can play on medium difficulty, where there is an autosave, which I don’t advise you to ignore, as for me, hard is not worth speedrunning on it, it’s not even about saves, and in the rection (stunning) of rotten killers for hits, for example in the head. I advise you to speedrun on STANDARD difficulty.

Passed:
Scenario A - 1:17:54 . According to the video on YouTube for Leon . I recommend combining this walkthrough withthe Minimalist and A Small Carbon Footprint trophies. When going through the game using this video, you won’t take more than 11-12k steps and you won’t have to open the chest.
Scenario B - 1:15:32 . According to the video on YouTube for Claire .

Interestingly, the game tries to drive you into a dead end, driving you into a constant shortage of supplies. But in fact, these are just attempts to make the player think so, in each arena with a boss there is a sufficient amount of supplies to defeat him, for example: I came to the last boss fight in scenario B with half a knife, but still left as a winner, since there was another full knife lying in front of the boss arena, this was enough to bluntly stab him. There is also an example, a little earlier, in the same scenario B, a fight on an elevator with a locomotive. There will be a six-barreled gun with 400 cartridges in the room, this will be quite enough to win, shooting truely more accurately than you usually have to. This is all to say that if you go through the video and you were not able to save as many supplies as in the video, this is not a reason to restart.
If you are inspired to kill bosses with a knife, you can first shoot all Mr. Raccoons, for this you will be given an endless knife and for one the Vermin Extermination / Pest Control trophy. But you shouldn’t equip it until you decide to use it yourself, so as not to leave the knife in a carcass that will grab you.
Also, infinite weapons do not affect obtaining S rank. (you can cheat by buying them in the ps store).

See the platinum tip. Claire can also skip the puzzle and boss in the sewers.
But then you won't get the electric gun.
I used this Video so as not to waste extra time.
I only used the endless pistol from the chest for completing Leon on S, and also accumulated heals and charges for the grenade launcher for the last 2 bosses.
I shortened the path following a hint from platinum, in total I did it in 1:45 on normal, 10-11k steps.

There is one catch: if you are killed and you choose to continue or load, then you will get the time that you managed to run from saving to death. Here it helps to reset the time either by immediately going to the menu and loading, or by loading and then loading again, then the counter will show the real time at the time of saving. I noticed this when playing on hardcore for both characters.

Here is a very competent video walkthrough of scenario A for rank S+ hardcore on PS4, without haste or risky moments, the passage takes up to 2 hours. While going through this video, I didn’t experience any difficulties with bosses or problems with ammo. This video is a guide for passing it the first time and without nerves. To be confident before the bosses, I made a mixture of three herbs.
