How to unlock the Peerless Agent achievement in Resident Evil 4 - Definitive Guide

Briefing

Professional mode (Pro) is unlocked after finishing your first run of the game on any difficulty.

Pro mode disables autosaves, so in case of death you'll be returning to whichever last manual save you had, enemies are stronger, faster and dangerous. While you don't need a specific rank to unlock this, be aware the bonus weapon Chicago Sweeper is a reward for attaining A rank or better (beat the game under 7 hours).

I'd recommend, before attempting your Pro run, obtaining A rank in Hardcore so that you unlock Armor Ashley, making her invencible. NG+ will help you big time.

You can freely use bonus weapons to complete your Pro run. Originally, the only way to unlock the Handcannon magnum was if you completed a fresh Pro run without bonus weapons. Now, simply by obtaining S ranks in all mercenaries maps should unlock it.

If you're feeling fancy and got $2 Million pesetas, you can buy an infinite rocket launcher by the merchant store. "Time to cause some mayhem" as he would say. You can reduce the price to $1.6 Million if you got the special charm "Leon w/Rocket".

Puzzles

Below, you can find all the solutions for puzzles in-game regardless of difficulties.

Pro mode vs lower difficulties

There may be more enemies in certain areas, i.e.
- In Chapter 5, before crossing the bridge to gather with Luis, in the same area as you search for Blue Medallions Part 1, prepare to fight a Brute (those guys with a minotaur in their head). Fortunately, doesn't have a hammer.

- In Chapter 12, after defeating Salazar and taking the elevator, be aware of two armor knights hiding in corners.

- In Chapter 16, the timer to escape the island is reduced to 1:30 minutes (same as Hardcore), instead of 2:30 minutes (Assisted, Standard). However, you'll still have between 10 - 15 seconds left, so it's merely to add tension. If you have any problems here, there's a typewriter as soon as you exit the elevator section.

I have a question, does costumes void getting the handcannon on a fresh new game Pro run? Like can I use Ashleys armor costume or any other costume for Leon?

@Mandalorias You can use any costume you want for both Leon and Ashley. In fact, Armor Ashley should make the run a breeze, since her section cannot be failed due to invulnerability, the enemies will be kinda distracted by trying to grab her, and if they hit her, you can stab them or kick them because they get stunned by doing so.

Also to note for the solution:

Professional difficulty only gives 1 minute and 30 seconds to escape the island.

Assisted difficulty gives around 2 minutes and 30 seconds. Checked with two different save files and can confirm the difference between the amount of time to escape from the island.

@GTAmissions1 Thanks for pointing out. I've updated the solution.

I did see you added a visual which is handy to help minimize the amount of time solving the puzzles (I know, I had to look at a video to figure out the correct configuration).

Other than that, your solutions is very rock solid.

@GTAmissions1 Yes! I thought it was awesome to have for both returning and new players alike. Found the post on r/residentevil (reddit). Happy to see it's better that way!

I've also added all know skips which I used in my runs. Some are handy to run past enemies or longer sections. They may be more, but those were the ones I found easier to pull or understand.

I'm thinking I might do that then... I just ran through hardcore and I struggled on quite a few a bits. My playtime was huge, 20 hours or so, but I wasn't exactly rushing and was exploring a lot

Can you also just replay normal difficulty over and over until you have the money for rocket launcher?

@Sneaky G Wizard Yes, but bear in mind you'll need to finish all 16 chapters to start a new updated NG+ save (with all your money, weapons, etc) you can't just simply start a NG+ midway thru. As far as I know, there's no limit regarding how many times you can use NG+ once you've finished your "x" run (i.e. first run, second run, third run...).

I finished hardcore and just ran it over into Pro and I'm struggling for ammo constantly. I feel like I am scraping through but I'm going to reach a soft lock at some point where I just won't have the tools to get myself through, you know

I'd recommend using charms for your attache case, depending on what you need (ammo, health, etc). If you bought the deluxe version, should have a special money attache case and ammo charms. Those should help big time when facing situations like that.

Combining gems into treasures should worth more than selling them separately. There are videos on Youtube to see which combinations have more value than others.

@Sneaky G Wizard Yes, the only downside being you'll avoid S+ rank doing so. But that shouldn't be an issue since it's no longer related to an achievement or special weapon like the Handcannon.

@Sneaky G Wizard The infinite rocket launcher is a godsend if you have +2M Pesetas. You could sell almost all of your upgraded weapons and ammo or gems, and cause some mayhem to almost anyone (but, be careful with Ashley since she can die if she doesn't wear the knight armor).

Also, the cheat sheet should be really handy to have nearby, skipping most of the puzzles solutions or major plot parts. Good luck! toast

This is the hardest difficulty setting in the game, but with no rank requirement, you can tackle this on New Game+ using a previous save file. Having fully upgraded weapons makes this run much easier, and if you want to make things even simpler, we recommend following our roadmap at the top of the page. This will see you tackling Professional for the first time using the Infinite Rocket Launcher, which means you should be able to complete the game in about 3-4 hours, giving you an S-rank and unlocking the Chicago Sweeper bonus weapon in the process, which is essential for unlocking Gun Fanatic (20G)
