How to unlock the Ghost of a Chance achievement in Resident Evil - Definitive Guide

Ghost of a Chance

To unlock invisible enemy mode you must beat the story with Jill and Chris on the save file (meaning when beating the game load the game then choose the next character on the same load) and then Hard MUST be finished too. Either that or beating it on Real Survival will unlock invisible enemy mode. Once you do either of those 2 requirements it will be under Real survival mode when loading the file.

When you start up the Invisible enemy mode you can do easy to make this the easiest. If you did it on Hard then it would possibly even be harder than True Survival mode (possibly).

So to start you off I want to say don't make the mistake I did, I attempted Invisible Enemy mode, only using my knife(CQC FTW achievement), under 3 hours (which can work if you are only using a knife), AND my biggest mistake, without saving (Ink is for squids). I got past what I thought was the hardest part having invisible enemies (LISA) to underestimate the Fuel capsule that blew up in my face right in front of where I had to insert it 10 minutes away from finishing the game.

So make sure when you do this achievement, to not mix it with the wrong achievements.

The video I used is in this solution:

Resident EvilCQC FTWThe CQC FTW achievement in Resident Evil worth 145 pointsFinish the game using only your knife (no lighter, Defensive Items, and stomping zombie heads).

The basic idea is to just run past everything. The bosses and Crimson head put up quite the fight not being able to see them, or use guns for that matter, so this is why I recommend at least having guns or being able to save while doing this.

If you want to use guns the video below is for you done by Shirrako and does it right under 2 hours giving you plenty of breathing space to make mistakes or watch some of the video first.

Be careful: When you pause your game it does not stop the in-game time, when you start a speed-run you cannot pause the game constantly and expect a good time. You can either play the game while watching the video (which is what I did) or you can save, quit, watch video, start up again and play until you get to another save spot with what you watched.

A good tip to know is that there is always hints or ways to see the invisible enemies, The bosses are the ones you need to really pay attention, everything else, you can basically just run past (except the 1 crimson head).

Any questions or concerns? Comment or message me, good luck and have fun everyone toast

Which is odd Raezie, because I finished the game 2 times in normal and the mode wasn't unlocked until I finished it on Real Survivor, dunno what's up with that

I believe that what I did wrong was didn't load up Chris when I made a new game playing as Jill and never did Jill and Chris on THE SAME SAVE. That is why I unlocked invisible enemy mode doing True survival, if you merely beat the game as Chris and Jill on 2 separate saves then the mode won't unlock. Its confusing but thats why. I don't like the saving in this game.. Its too confusing.

I did start always with the same save, that's why its odd that it didn't unlock for me on normal, I assumed that it would unlock only after True survivor, but who knows lol

For me, Invisible mode didn't unlock until I had completed Real Survival mode.

Special weapons are only available to use in once again mode, not IE nor Real Survival.

Did you load the game you finished Real Survival? Right when you load the game up your supposed to load the save that finished it.

When you complete a game and save upon loading the game up you must load the save that beat true survival mode, when loading it on the save when you beat the game you will see invisible enemy mode below true survival mode, yes the save/load system in this game is confusing.

I thought you unlocked real survivor when beating the game on normal, and then you unlocked invisible enemy when beating the game on real survivor? http://www.gamefront.com/resident-evil-hd-remaster-unlockabl...

Those are unlockables for PC, you cannot get One dangerous zombie mode, Ingram, and the requirements are different for unlocking the other things on PC.

^ The only problem with that is that it is unnecessary. You don't need to play a hard playthrough, since real survivor stacks with the hard difficulty (they are basically the same difficulty, but survivor adds more limitations).

I still think the best thing to do is that you just play survivor, and then this mode will unlock.

I really don't understand your logic. If you want to complete the game, you have to do real survivor, which unlocks the hard achievement. Doing hard mode again at any other point with any of the other playthroughs is not needed.

Ok I don't know what else to say. Not really sure what nook and cranny even has to do with this topic or even playthrough optimization (other than you don't want to do that on your speed run and your real survivor run). Anyway good luck!

You guys are right, there are different opinions on what playthroughs to do. Anyway for what it is worth, here is the way I am doing this game:

1. Normal - Jill (get Nook and Cranny) -> unlocks Real Survivor
2. Real Survivor - Jill -> unlocks Invisible Enemy mode
3. Once Again/Normal - Jill - Speed run (3 hours) -> unlocks the rocket launcher
4. Once Again/Very Easy - Chris - No Saving (use inf rocket launcher)
5. Invisible Enemy/Very Easy - Chris - Knife Only

You can get all the achievements in 4 playthroughs if you do a speed run on the first playthrough, or if you don't save on your speed run or your knife only playthrough, but I have never played this before and wanted to enjoy it without getting too stressed out.

I have 5 playthroughs now on 1 save. 2 as Chris, 3 as Jill, beat Hard with the IRL, unlocked Passion for Fashion so I believe that proves I'm doing the saving properly. And still no Invisible Enemy option. So I believe Raezie is correct that if you haven't beaten RS you have to beat Hard and finish with Jill and Chris ON NORMAL.

Same save means you load your most recent save every time, if you ever hit new game without loading your most recent save it will count as a different save.

Mental, if you played survivor instead of hard with the IRL, the mode would have unlocked for sure. You wouldn't have to worry about the save file crap.

You've made that abundantly clear, spacedvest2. I played Hard with the IRL because I enjoyed it and it wasn't stressful, and I don't know if I'll ever succeed at RS or feel like trying anytime soon. I would like to try Invisible Enemy on Easy though. If Raezie is correct, it will unlock when I do Chris Normal (IRL) as my No Save run. I still say my saves should be fine if I have the Chris/Jill achievement and costume achievement.

I don't know if this helps, but I didn't think RS was that bad. You are just running from most zombies all the time. The only thing that I thought was annoying about it is how the box inventories aren't linked.

On Xbox One version, I've unlocked IE without play on Real Survivor nor Hard Mode. But I've get on Once More the 3 hours playthought with Jill and then the achievement of all map visited (normal) with Chris.

I unlocked IE after one campaign with Chris (Normal; Under 5 Hours), and one campaign with Jill (Normal; Under 3 Hours; No Saves) on the same file. Hard and Real Survival are not necessary.

Do you have to save the completion of the second/third/fourth on the previous cleared data file? I think this is confusing. I finished with Jill twice and once with Chris using my cleared data. However when I completed I saved on a "free" unused slot. Real survival is available since my first completion however invisible enemy is not.

@spacedvest2 you cant expect everyone has the intention of doing every achievement in the game. Some people don't want to, expecting that (with solution makers at least) will cause negative votes for assuming everyone wants to do everything in the game. Happens to me all the time when I make solutions based on people completing the whole game.

@Raezie you know RS isn't that hard if you use the right guide. You run past most enemies and guides make it a joke. If you don't want to do it no one can force you to, im just letting you know its not that hard at least with the right guide.

Actually when making solutions I make sure to give all possible methods of unlocking something.

Everyone wants choices in how they handle unlocking the achievements, forcing people down certain paths is not the best thing to do. I messed up on some Halo TMCC achievement solutions telling people their best option was to do the speedrun on legendary first and they all went negative on vote ratios (I told them on par time achievements to do this). I fixed them now and are getting better votes, but since that happened I do not create solutions on paths I take, but to getting the achievement alone. (mentioning the path that would be best in my opinion)

Another thing you have to realize is to unlock the Infinite rocket weapon you have to do Normal speedrun (or hard) under 3 hours. That was my last playthrough to get the Starsonal achievement, and was imo the hardest achievement (hardest playthrough, the most annoying achievement is Ink is for squids).

RS mode was not really a challenge to me at all (of course thanks to the guides) I had an extremely difficult time doing Invisible enemy mode (mixing with the knife only achievement, which was a bad combo, lost a ton of time when I did no save, invisible enemy mode, knife only).

It all depends on the paths people take to unlock all the achievements. IMO, the best path is taking your time, learn the game, use guides. I beat the game about 7 times just to obtain all achievements (min 4 possible which im sure you know). I believe every nook and cranny should be done on first playthough on easiest difficulty (even though there is more, its just easier to explore and kill everything).

I do think though if you have infinite rocket weapon every nook and cranny would be easier on Hard, again though, not everyone would agree.

Everyone should figure their own path, just have solutions with options for everyone to choose from.

My experience with invisible enemies was interesting. Did it with knife only run - died only on 2 occasions - the first crimson head I went in with only 2 healing items and he trucked me. Went back with 4 and it was fine. I never killed a single hunter - even the one by the emblem key room.

I died also once on Tyrant. I stabbed him 3 or 4 times and he killed me. Trying to conserve on healing even though I had a full inventory of FA SPRAYs.

Overall it's not too bad especially if you've done a speed run. My knife only invisible enemy run took just under 3 hours with chris. It's not overly difficult if you have a good idea of the layout of the game.

there's really no need to combine this achievement with any of the others, you're just asking for more stress, haha

if you are going to speedrun the game, note that opening the xbox guide during a door animation WILL pause the timer

LMAO, in very easy with Chris this cheevo is a breeze !
Just run past everrything, you only need to kill the elder crimson, plant 42 (after using the V-Jolt), Yawn 2, the tick next to the fuel tank (go quick, after 3-4 swipes he will run away and despawn) and the first Tyrant.
For Plant 42 I've found a spot next to the chimney and the carpet where you can swipe and never getting hit.

Okay, so this is my own video. It will show you how to get ghost of a chance, ink is for squids, don't stop running, cqc ftw, and the nightmare ends.

Don't be afraid to play on very easy, and if you already have an achievement don't be afraid to ignore that challenge (most notably Ink is For Squids)

1. Play as Jill.
2. Play on very easy difficulty.
3. Run like hell, you can avoid most of the enemies by simply running right past them and hitting the next door.
4. Avoid the plant 42 fight head-on by killing it with V-Jolt.
--Combine 1 (water from the sink) and UMB No.3 to make NP-004.
--Combine NP-004 and Yellow-6 to make UMB No.10.
--Combine 1 and Yellow-6 to make UMB No.7.
--Combine UMB No.10 and UMB No.7 to make VP-017.
--Combine VP-017 and UMB No.3 to make V-JOLT.
--Take the V-JOLT back down to the Aqua Ring and use it on the roots inside the guard room.
5. Save your big ammo and guns for the boss fights.
6. Do not save Barry or Chris to avoid the 2nd boss fight with Tyrant at the helipad.
7. Save as much as possible, especially after boss fights.

I followed the path in the speed run below.

To first have access to Invisible Enemy mode, you must clear Real Survival Mode as either character. To earn the trophy you must clear the game in Invisible Enemy Mode with Chris or Jill; I recommend Chris for this playthrough. There are several things to know about Invisible Enemy mode.

  1. You can select your difficulty, choose Very Easy for easiest time. However, if you are following the roadmap and combining your Invisible Enemies playthrough with your speedrun playthrough, you will need to play on at least Normal difficulty.
  2. Auto-Aim is disabled, so you must manually aim where you think enemies are.
  3. If you achieved the special weapons, they’re not available to you.

See Gameplay Helps/Hints for additional details.

Special Weapons do NOT work on this mode. That includes the Rocket Launcher and Samurai Edge.

Invisible Enemy literally makes the zombies and monsters disappear from the screen. You'll see them when they attack and can hear them make noises but otherwise, it's all down to knowing where they'll be when you enter a room. I recommend doing this on Very Easy and after you've ran through the game on that mode (preferred during your Knife-Only run) so you can get an idea of where everyone is situated.

If you can remember exactly where a zombie's standing, you could run by them...but for the most part just try to blow their heads off if possible. As far as burning invisible zombie's corpses uh...remember where that blood pool was! Unfortunately, auto-aim is DISABLED for this mode so...you have to manually aim at your enemies.

For some reason this achievement has 100 but other than not being able to see the enemies, it's not harder than Real Survival considering you can do it on very easy. I recommend playing as Jill and getting Barry's Magnum again, so you can take care of the Tyrant in one shot.
