How to unlock the Deep Sea Diver achievement in Return to Monkey Island - Definitive Guide

Doing this requires the Blowfish, which you can get by winning the burping contest in Act IV against the old Pirate Lords by drinking the green fizzy drink you get at the remains of the SCUMM Bar (if the drink isn't fizzy by the time you drink it, you need to get a new one).

After getting the Blowfish, go sailing and click on your ship at a random part of the map. You'll then need to make sure you puff up the blowfish and then drop anchor and jump into the water. There are 7-8 different ocean floor variants and they are random, and you need to see each one once.

So after going to the ocean floor, climb up the anchor, puff up the Blowfish again, and find another point on the map to dive back down on. Just keep going until the achievement unlocks.

DoG Suey ID pointed out that one of the unique variations is story related, so wait to grind this out until after you've obtained Bella Fisher's key.

deutschZuid pointed out that you don't need the Blowfish on Casual difficulty.

Are you sure that info is correct?
I was under the impression that reaching the fishing spot (part of main story) was one of the "unique" ocean floor variations...

I got this on second run after just 5 times going down anchor, I never did it at all on first run. So not sure what counts towards this for example some of the storyline ocean floors must count.

IMPORTANT!!!
One of the areas included in this achievement is the Bella Fisher shipwreck. I would have saved myself a lot of tedium had I know this.

You do not need the blowfish on casual mode.. in fact I don't think you even can get the blowfish as the fizzy drink isn't interactable at the SCRUMM bar wreckage.

Just moor at any random location and dive in. You will get it eventually.

There are five different ocean floors including Bella Fisher shipwreck, at least on casual. The misleading 7 or 8 had me spend more time than necessary.

Please include the information that this Bella's key shouldn't be your last one as it will force you to go straight to the secret and then you will miss this achievement.

This achievement didn't track except for after finding Bella's ship. I just kept diving in at random spots and it never tracked after that. But, it unlocked after jumping in after the fifth or sixth time on Casual. Weird achievement.

Some of the comments have bad information, it tracks just fine. There are SIX unique ocean bottoms, including Bella Fisher's.

I was stuck at 83%. After some useless grinding I tried the compass-skull location (J9 on the map) and finally got the achievement. This area is near J8 where I found Cogg Island, maybe returning near Cogg Island count as one location.

The puffer fish may exist in the difficult mode. The method of use is to blow puffer before diving, and then suck puffer from the prop fence in the water after diving (I made a mistake to study the one that swam in water for half a day). The seabed is completely random, independent of geographical location
