For every of the 3 miles/km achievements EVERYTHING count including multiplayer even if the description says it doesn't.
I've just won 200 races and lost 50 in a boosting session on aviator loop (750km more or less) I got the 800km/500 miles after 4 or 5 races on single player.
Don't forget that after an online session, you have to return to the menu in order to save, don't switch off your XBOX right after the game.
BEWARE: If you restart a race or you return to the menu from the pause button, in every modes, all the distance done during that won't be added to your stats.

Just commenting that this unlocked for me after 150 or so MP races with nearly nothing single player done - after hitting menu from multiplayer lobby.

You will get this as you progress through World Xplorer. If you view your stats, it will say how far you have driven in the game.

This Achievement (like the 16,000 KM / 10,000 Miles Driven Achievement and the 1,600 KM / 1,000 Miles Driven Achievement) can be obtained through Story Mode (through the Main Races) (Offline).
This Achievement (like the other ones mentioned above) is Cummulative, therefore, it can be obtained Offline or Online (or both), Multi-Player / Split-Screen also counts towards this Achievement.
