This is not a cumulative achievement. You must have 6,000 coins at one time.
This is not too difficult honestly. The first stage can be completed in under two minutes and contains 3 chests. Each chest contains a gem which can be sold in town for extra money as well.
You can keep replaying the 1st stage over and over again, selling what you don't need, and you should get 6,000 coins fairly quickly.
