You need 10k in your hand to unlock this achievement. Don't spent any gold until you hit this amount. You can buy an gold upgrade that prevents you from losing if you die. Even without the upgrade this should come over time during your playthroughs. The two treasures chest for beating a stage fast will fill up your gold easily+ you can sell all the stuff you don't need.
