How to unlock the Good Boys achievement in Ring of Pain - Definitive Guide
This can only be gotten with the Hand of Dog gauntlets.
When using this item while attacking a Rot Hound enemy it will change into a pupper, and can then be pet 1-3 times in place of your attack. After petting it the maximum, it will leave.
The counter goes up as soon as you transform the hound.
Rot hounds are found on every single floor starting from the very beginning.
Be aware that if an explosion or an advancing enemy eats the pup it doesn't count.

Yea, to 2nd what Fine Feat told you, petting pupper's in the companion room does NOT count as pacifying a hound. You MUST actually pet a Rot Hound to turn it into a pupper.
For clarification, this achievement is for using Hand of Dog on a Rot Hound. Once a hound is turned into a pupper is when you get credit, not actually petting the pupper. My achievement just popped when I used the gauntlet on a hound. Chievo popped once it turned into a pupper

You get this achievement for turning 25 Rot Hound enemies into Puppers. Petting Puppers afterwards or petting Puppers in companion rooms does NOT add to this achievements counter, but what kind of monster doesn't pet the Puppers?
Pacifying Rot Hounds requires that you first find and equip the Hand of Dog rare (blue card) item. You may need to reroll rare card many times until you find it. Rare cards are most common on floors 4-8.
Once you've equipped the Hand of Dog, continue progressing through floors until you find a floor with a Rot Hound (Or the Huge Rot Hound variant). Once you've found a Rot Hound click it and instead of attacking the Hand of Dog will pacify the Rot Hound and it will turn into a Pupper. Now do the right thing and pet the Pupper.
Do not move to the next floor, instead exit to the main menu then select "Continue". This will restart the floor you just did, allowing you to pacify the Rot Hound again. Repeat until you have pacified 25 Hounds. You can check your progress while you are at the main menu if you wish.
One thing to note: after you exit and continue the second time a powerful wall time enemy will spawn preventing you from moving one direction around the ring. It doesn't move and can't hurt you unless you attack it.
