The best way to obtain this achievement is to bring a transcendence scroll with you to the boss fight. When you have him low, use the scroll to destroy all of your items, keeping the stats and finish the boss off.

This popped for me after I did the Soul Kin run on dark ending Owl. I had tiara, spiritual mask and the soul cannon spellbook equipped and only damaged him with the spellbook. Maybe this means only no weapons equipped on kill?
