How to unlock the Hold the line! achievement in RIOT - Civil Unrest - Definitive Guide
This is for the specific level on Arab Springs 'Battle of the Camels' if youre reading this you, like myself and others, have probably gotten stuck on the bs level and need advice. Now, unfortunately there is no foolproof way to get by this, it really does require a lot of luck with how the rioters run around on map. This was my strategy:
On the police customization screen, when you start, you should see each officer equal, at 603 points, totaling 204 people at the riot. This is way too many to deal with, so what we're going to do is edit each guard to have LIGHT defense, NO gasmasks (0), 18in HR BATON, and NO ITEM. This makes each person much less imposing, meaning much fewer people will show up to the riot. For the 6th person, equip a radio (strongly recommended).
This strategy is based off of a few i had found online including from a forum post here on TA. Now, when the level begins, hold left and to change yourself from agressive to passive (blue). Do this for each of the 6 officers, using to change so that once the last rider is changed you will be on the one with the radio. Still holding left, use the radio to make all officers march in a line towards that spot. While they are moving, cycle through each set of officers again, holding down on the d-pad as this changes their formation to a line and helps drastically. Once done, use the radio again, going further left. After the 2nd use, when the camels stop moving, scroll up to the first camel. From now on, only use camel units 1, 2, and 3, as the others are going to stay still where they are and hold the majority of the crown up and left. With camel 1, lower to the left/middle area, and try to push people downwards. With camel 2, i tried to go right, then flank left to create a forceful wall to push people directly left (they dont want to go up to camel 1). This should keep a bunch of them stuck to the left, but not all, which should be fine. With camel 3, go far right to the bottom right corner and do your best to keep the protestors off the lawn to the right. By now, assuming you got lucky and people didn't slip around back to the lawn, the minute counter should start up. keep moving up and around with camel 3, as the protesters will keep trying to go around him. After a harsh minute, you should get a blue message, and a victory.
At any point in this, if you are struggling to shepherd people around, use the stampede attack, which causes people to flee in terror briefly. There is no real foolproof way to do this frustrating level, and in my own experiences, after doing it properly, both peacefully and violently, it still said the protesters won and i had lost, despite keeping them out for a minute. If that happens, all i can say is try again until you get lucky /: You might also be encouraged in knowing that if you push through and win, the final level lets you get sweet sweet revenge on the people via a tank (:< and since the achievement for non-violence should already be unlocked, blast away
If you have any feedback or additional tips/ strats, please drop a comment. good luck ( :

Arab Spring
Mission 4
Battle of the Camels
I finally managed this peacefully, the moral high ground seems to give you enough points over the rebels on the end score screen.
Set up
Light armour
18in HR batons
No equipment
No gas masks
Push the units left while swapping to peaceful mode using Y
When approaching the right hand side of the tents in the centre start swapping all units to the lined formation using down on the D-Pad
I suggest lining your units up as they are represented on the side of your screen, I.e the top unit goes to the top of the screen, the bottom unit to the bottom of the screen and so on
Using the 6th unit, go beneath the tent in lined formation and stay there
5th unit to stay in lined formation across the entrance to the tented area
4th unit lined formation from the top of the tent
3rd, 2nd,1st unit should all be lined and in line with the 4th till they reach the road above forming one giant line of police
Hold X to help you view the top of the map, you can press A on a blank equipment slot to cancel the charge order, the game doesn't allow you to free cam so this was the only way to view the top of the map
Now start to move 5 and 6 across the bottom of the map pushing people out of the lower left section of the highlighted circle, have 6 sit at the bottom left and 5 to the left hand side of 6, both still in lined formation
Now march 4 3 2 1 across the top of the map moving bit by bit, move 4 slightly, then 3, then 2, etc etc
1 should remain top centre and then line the top edge of the circle with 2 and 3 and have 4 move towards the centre far left
If like mine, the majority of the rioters are top centre to top left, you can use 1 2 and 3's charge to scare them off as for some reason as the timer gets closer to 0 on the police timer the braver they get, just don't go too far out
Keep switching to the other units to keep an eye on them, 5 and 6 sat and barely moved but give them a wiggle if the rioters at the bottom start getting brave, same for 4
I never made use of the radios or anything as having all the units rush one spot was counter productive, you'd end up having a mass of camels scaring 10 people off while another 50 re entered the circle 🤦♂️
I never had much luck with violence either, before you try it, you cant kill them all with handguns and big bat's unfortunately.
This is a horrible mission that would be fixed with the addition of a moving camera
