Hot Laps are standard time challenges. You have 1 lap to beat the target time. These do not scale with your vehicle, so you will need to upgrade to have any chance at the higher Cup Hot Laps.
Often a clean line is more important than boost, so avoiding a ramp may be a better strategy if it will take you off line or into a corner. Higher Level Tricks grant more boost, so use these off ramps whenever possible.
There are 11 total Hot Lap Events across the first 8 Cups (the 9th cup is all Races). This trophy will pop when you have 3 starred every Hot Lap Event.

Hot Lap events are single lap time trial events, you must place first in all 11 hot lap events. Most of these events start off quite easy but the later hot lap events will prove much easier with an upgraded Manta. During the events make sure to use ramps efficiently in order to perform tricks to earn boost, sometimes it may be better to avoid ramps as they may slow you down.
