In the game, mostly in hidden places, you come across some collectibles. One type of collectibles are tarot cards. I found my first card in Act 2, in a box I smashed into pieces (according to Dusturm, the first card can be found in the dining car on the train). You can check how many and what type of cards you have in the specials section of the menu (it also points out how many you still need, though not in much detail, if you want to go for the perfectionist achievement, Tarot Master).
I'm sure there will be a guide about the collectibles soon. Until then, try smashing all boxes, opening all closets you come across, and do not use automatic movement, because that prevents you from properly exploring in the game.

This can first be unlocked in Act 1. Tarot Card 0 (The Fool) can be found in the dining car. Once you side-step the guy on the phone, turn around, and you will see the card to the right of the door from which you entered. A complete list of Tarot Cards can be found here.
