You will unlock this trophy early on, and your first Bond will be with Ryoma Sakamoto, whom you meet in the mission “Your Reward is in the Cave.” (You actually already have a high Bond with you Blade Twin, which you can see if you check your Bond screen (tp.png and tab across with r1.png to Bond menu), but this doesn’t count, as it has already been established. Once you complete this mission, you will establish a bond with Ryoma, and the 'Threads of Fate' trophy will then unlock.

As the game progresses, you can meet 52 non-player characters. This mechanic is called Link. The trophy will drop during the completion of one of the first story quests (after the prologue), in which you will meet and establish a connection with the Eccentric Samurai.
