How to unlock the Golden Child achievement in Rise of the Tomb Raider - Definitive Guide
I came here to write a little guide but Pvt Tuker has covered most things i was gonna say! I will add that if you go on the leaderboards for each level you can see the high scores of the top people, if you click on the person with A you can see which cards they used. I then noticed if your press A again you can use the same cards for 2000 credits without owning them. So all you gotta do is find a set of cards your comfortable with and get the correct score so when multiplied by your cards you have gold. If you havent got enough just restart and you will keep the cards. I personally used high multiplier cards and one which had unlimited poison arrows, this makes it so easy to kill enemies and keep your multiplier. There are people at the top of each leaderboard which have use a unlimited poison arrow card you can copy or feel free to add me and copy my cards. I came number 1 on some leaderboards doing this and normally on the first page of the leaderboard. I hope this helps i did most first go having unlimited poison arrows!
To add:
To get gold all i did was try to keep the multiplier as high as i could up to the enemies in the level and kill them without losing the multiplier. If you manage to keep a good multiplier and kill the enemies you will most likely have enough points and it doesn't make a difference if you die as you lose only 300 score. I did a run on each level to make sure i knew where to go, where the enemies are and to find a good path to run to get the multiplier up. As commented below make sure to shoot any lanterns you see these give you extra points and add to your multiplier. If you shoot them from far away you get extra points. Just make sure you work out what score you need to get before the end of the level so when multiplied by your card bonus you have enough points for gold. Thats it really its simple once you get the hang of it and the poison arrows make it easy to kill people without losing your multiplier.
After Copper Mill, the next-toughest Gold medal requires 250,000 points and most hover around the 150,000-230,000 range; the tombs require 5,000-30,000 points to get gold medals on. But for some reason, the Copper Mill requires 700,000 points. You can reach this score with a good bit of planning and by using the first place on the leaderboard's cards to give you a +350% multiplier.
As long as you have 2,000 credits, you should be able to press to view details of any leaderboard player, and then on the bottom of the screen you'll see another option to press to "play with these settings." I found the easiest card lineup to be:
First Aid: No auto-regen (which is disabled in Survivor difficulty)
= +100%
Toxicity: Unlimited poison arrows = -50%
Holstered: Reduced pistol damage (which is irrelevant since you're using poison arrows) = +50%
No Leftovers: No ammo pick-ups (irrelevant since you're using poison arrows): +100%
Armor-Plated: Enemies have double armor strength (irrelevant since poison bypasses armor) = +100%
This means you receive your score +300% (or 4x your score) and the only penalty is that you have to use unlimited poison arrows. Grip is a pain in the ass and One Life To Live can be frustrating if you don't have an area memorized. However, in this case, the best option was to use someone's card set which included One Life To Live, so I was very careful once I reached the score goal to make sure I survived the level even if it cost me my combo multiplier.
EDIT: In the comments, HolyWarr27 has created a playlist for gold medals without the use of cards.
In the comments, some users have reported difficulty unlocking this on Series X and had to boot up the game in an Xbox One for all of the challenges to tally correctly. It does not appear that this specific challenge is the problem, and digital versions may not have the issue. We don't have enough data yet to determine the cause of the problem and solution.
In case you would prefer visual aid like I do, I found these HQ vids on YouTube which you would've found anyways.
I'm only linking, I take no credits for it.
So, a BIG thanks goes to the author Icarus Wings who took the time to record them and share these with the world on YouTube.
The thing I personally like about vids, is that they give me a good idea of what cards were used (look at the summary at the end of the vid), what the level looks like, what weapons (if applicable) to use, which path to take to build up and maintain the score combo multiplier, etc.
As already suggested by many others, it's better to go to the leaderboards and look for a gamer who used a set of cards you feel most comfortable with.
Personally, I think it's better to spend 2.000 Credits to have the perfect set of cards, because when you beat the level (and get gold), you will get 10.000 credits and thus still make 8.000 profits whilst having the perfect set of cards and not consume any of your own cards from your collection.
Alright then... on with the vids!

Any suggestions to improve this guide are welcome!
Thanks for voting thumbs up if this guide was helpful.
I wish you all the best of luck to get gold on all the levels of this fabulous game!
Mountain Peak
Hunting Grounds
Wicked Vale * (not needed)

I couldn't see any Hunting Grounds or Mountain Peak, could you?
As for the Wicked Vale one, if you would have read my guide till the end, I already mentioned that both Return to the Wicked Vale and Witch's Cave are NOT needed for the Golden Child achievement but they are for the Witch Trials.
I did all levels on survivor difficulty. The most important thing for all levels is keeping your multiplier up. (Collect wisps, resources, shoot lanterns and kill stuff) speed is not necessary once the bonus points run out the penalty increase is slow.
The tombs are generally easier especially knowing the puzzle going in. I used the cards that gave the highest multiplier (except for hold X to hang from ledges). Once you have a decent multiplier the lanterns you shoot are generally enough for to get gold.
For infiltrate missions the cards I used were, no health regen, no ammo boxes, weaker pistol, more damage from explosions, and big headed enemies. (Gives 295% bonus) I recommend working out how many points you need before the multiplier so you know how your going, completing the level uses up your cards but restarting doesn't.
Big headed enemies makes this significantly easier as you can usually headshot people in cover and you can headshot shielded enemies over the top of their shield.
Dying does not matter too much, the points penalty is small (-300) as long as you at some point put together a nice combo you should be able to get gold.
UPDATE: The windows 10 version of the two said achievements has now been fixed.
However this is for those with issues being bugged/glitched.
You'll need gamepass ultimate to do this....
Boot up gamepass on your mobile, go to cloud, select the game.
Now just finish any trial with gold that you can comfortably do and it should pop.
Hope this helps, you'd think it would be patched seeing as it's on gamepass now
You will have access to the expeditions mode from the title screen. The basic rules of the score attack is to do all kinds of score-winning actions including gathering blue orbs, ammunition, resources, documentations, etc.. Killing enemies and shooting lanterns gives much higher score. Every time you score you will see a combo meter at the upper-left corner of your screen. The meter drops down really fast and re-fills when you score again. If you can keep a really high combo, your scoring actions will have a pretty good multiplier and your final score will benefit from it tremendously. So having a good route in each level to keep your combo multiplier is the key.
Also the cards you select before the level can give you a very good multiplier at the end. Those cards give you some negative effects which are not that scary at all. For example, “one life” card means once you die, you have to start over while it gives you 100% more points at the end. This actually means nothing considering most levels are extremely short and some of them do not even have any enemies. If you do not have many good cards, just go to the leader board and find your level, select anyone at the top of that board, you will have an option to challenge his score with his card set for 2000 credits. This counts towards to trophy too. What is even better is that if you fail in the middle of your run, you can just “restart” the level without having to pay another 2000 credits.
I found this video list really helpful, especially for showing a good route. Credit to dormouse03.
Some other tricks I found myself during my run:
1. The most important thing first: unlimited poison arrows card. This card will give you 50% less points, but man, it helps so much in those enemy encounters. You can use poison arrows to shoot lanterns too. If you do not have this card yet, no worries, go to the leader board, and you will find it from the card-set of those top ranked people.
2. During the level where you need to shoot some gates with fire bombs (I think it is called outskirts of the lost city?), you will come to a point where you are supposed to shoot 3 groups of undead enemies with that big machine. Instead of doing that, you can use your unlimited poison arrows to shoot them. They will always respawn which gives you theoretically unlimited points.
Hope this solution can help you in any way.
Thanks.
Something interesting about the card packs is that they don't give you more of the same card after you have 3 of them, so if you just keep buying bronze packs you will fill up your bronze cards quickly, then silvers and golds. After spending around 300k credits, you'll be getting just the blue cards, and if you just sell the ones you don't want until you get 3 toxicity cards and then buy packs again when you use them, you'll always have them available. Nice way to ensure you always have the combo of cards you want for a level without having to copy someone's layout.
By simply playing the following Cards for each level, you can boost your score my 350% and therefore not need to follow such full combos and locate every pickup in the stage (with perhaps the exception of Copper Mill) (cards with *** I had a permanent in my collection for, not sure if this is RNG)
- ***First Aid (Health regeneration is disabled, use bandages to heal)
- ***One Life To Live (Dying ends the replay immediately)
- Armor-Plated (Enemies have double their base armour strength)
- Empty Magazine (Start with no ammunition)
- Toxicity (Grants unlimited Poison Arrows)
If you're feeling brave, you could swap First Aid (+100%) with Struggle (+125%), but I feel that with the Deathless challenges it's just too risky/annoying. Maybe in some tombs if you're simply struggling that much with 350%.
When starting stages, craft one set of arrows (hold RT) and then make sure you have Poison Arrows selected. When facing enemies, killing scattering wildlife or shooting lanterns, just use the poison arrow instead of standard arrows - you'll be killing everything in one hit and won't need such precise aiming.
I strongly recommend you complete Extreme Survivor difficulty before attempting this - not necessarily for practice and familiarity with what you need to do, but because you'll get a significant amount of credits by doing so (I think it's 80k credits).
I would not worry about the time bonus. It's small and insignificant.
So...
1 - Get at least 100k credits. Either by completing the story (higher difficulties = more credits), completing challenges in the Endurance mode (either single player or co-op). They are not hard to earn.
2 - From the marketplace, press RB to navigate to the "gifts" tab, and open everything. If you bought the 20th Anniversary version of the game, you'll have a bunch of these including some rare cards.
3 - Buy Bronze packs of cards continuously. You'll start off getting rubbish bronze cards at first, but eventually, you'll start getting silvers, then golds and platinum, and even permanents (gold border). If you run out of credits or fill up your inventory before you start getting the same cards over and over, simply sell 4 worthless golds (1600 credits each = you'll earn credits for each pack opened) and try again. The golds I typically sold were Big Head Lara and the Rainbow Trail
This should only take you about 10-15 mins.
If after I while I noticed that every time I sold Big Head and Rainbow Trail, every bronze pack I opened gave them all back to me, then I knew I was done and ready to do the challenges as I'd have all the cards I'd need.
4 - Every time I attempt a stage, I set the difficulty to Survivor, and ran the following challenges to earn credits;
- Deathless (Complete the level without dying)
- Deathless Survivor (Complete the level without dying on Survivor difficulty)
- Pickup Collector III (Collect xx score pickups or more)
- Pickup Collector II (Collect xx score pickups or more)
- Chain Reaction II (Achieve a combo of xx)
You will likely complete these accidentally if you try a little. You can go for Chain Reaction III if you feel confident, just be careful of archers and know your pickups.
And that's all there is to it! If you find that one of the 5 cards has run out, just open another Bronze pack and it should return all of the non-permanent cards back to you straight away. If you somehow end up with different ones, just sell some of the garbage golds and try again (some permanent cards, like Big Head and Grip, have permanent variants, so you can sell the non-permanent ones).
This achievement is more time consuming than difficult, even with the deathless challenges (which are occasionally annoying but not too bad).
Expeditions Mode only.
Each chapter in Expeditions Mode's Score Attack mode has point thresholds above which you'll be awarded a bronze, silver or gold medal. For this achievement, you need to earn enough points for a gold medal on every single chapter.
For a high score, you'll need to complete the chapter as fast as possible (an on-screen counter will show your current time bonus/penalty as you play), picking up blue score bonus pickups, killing enemies (headshots, finishers, etc., will provide a higher score) and avoiding damage. Ideally, try to achieve kills in quick succession to gain a temporary score multiplier, while replaying on higher difficulty levels will apply a multiplier to your overall score (0.5× for Adventurer, 1× for Tomb Raider, 2× for Seasoned Raider and 3× for Survivor).
Beyond this, applying modifier effects to the encounter with up to five cards (see "These Belong in A Museum" above) will provide a further score multiplier, which can be either positive (for effects that hinder your encounter) or negative (for helpful effects). Depending on the nature of the encounter, some of the easiest hindering effects to deal with, while providing a notable score boost, are those that disable health regeneration (which isn't possible on Survivor difficulty anyway) and those that start Lara with no ammunition (not too much of a problem if early stealth kills or ammo pickups are available).

(Online)
Note: Unlike the DLCs, the main game does allow you to have 5 Cards active at once (credit to TrevorReznor for this info).
Score Attack can be played in Expeditions mode (selected from the title screen). In this mode you will have to replay chapters and challenge tombs from the main game but there's a certain high score for each level. You increase your score in several ways: finish the mission as fast as possible, collect blue spheres, shoot yellow lanterns, play on survivor difficulty (x3 point bonus), do stealth chain-kills, headshots, combat finishers, select card modifiers that increase the score multiplier, don’t take damage, don't die. Really what it comes down to is speed-running the entire game again on highest difficulty with added modifiers that make it harder. There are a total of 27 levels. Challenge tombs also count as levels but they only show up after completing them in the main game.
The cards give you a lot more choice over the possible score outcome. Some give a great score boost without affecting the gameplay too much. When you play on Survivor difficulty you can disable health regeneration for a score boost. Health regeneration is disabled on survivor anyway. Most sections have no enemies at all or you can stealth kill them so choose the mod that makes you start with zero ammo (you can pick up enough ammo along the way).
There is another trick to make this a lot easier, credit to Aruberikku for finding this:
From the main menu go to Leaderboards, then press till you find the level you want to try. Now press on someone with a high score. It will show you the details of their run, including which cards they used. If you'd like to run a mission with the same cards, just press again and select "Yes" on the confirmation. This will cost 2,000 credits but you can use the same cards as the person on the leaderboard without owning them yourself.
