How to unlock the Sweet Dreams achievement in Rise of the Tomb Raider - Definitive Guide

There are 3 skulls you have to defeat before the nightmare spawns.
You start in a random location. The first thing you need to do is find the master key. It will be located in an obvious relic box in one of the main rooms that is not locked. Once you have the key, you will need to find the 3 skulls in these locked rooms. When you kill all 3 skulls, a big skull (the nightmare) spawns in the main lobby. I used a card for unlimited grenade ammo and a maxed out outfit with a maxed out bow. It was very easy. The 3 normal skulls die with one direct grenade arrow and the boss skull takes 3.

The skulls can be located in these rooms (list to be updated):
1)In the library.
2) In the west wing in the room with the paintings past the bedroom.
3) In the wine cellar. The door is in the same hall as the library.
4)The Hidden room in the wine cellar
5)In the West wing bedroom
6)In the hall outside the study
Boss) Main lobby

The boss may throw up a shield after one or two shots. I just shot a grenade arrow at the spawning enemies on the bottom floor and the mission completed but you may need to shoot him again after the shield is gone.

I spawned in the wine cellar, and everything was located in different places. It must be random every time.

Thanks for that information. I got everything on my first run so didn't know it was random.

Skulls can also appear in the hidden cellar room, the hallway between the study and main hall and the bedroom on the upper east wing

Thanks for that! Which hallway are you talking about between the lobby and the study? It does not seem like there would be enough room for one there.

I can confirm that there can spawn a skull in the room between the lobby and the hallway into the study (with the secret door to the cellar). So not the hallway itself, but the room with the fireplace.

Normal arrows will be at 0. Did you look at the special ammo?

In your guide you stated, "Once you have the key, you will need to find the 3 skulls in these locked rooms."......not entirely true

I actually killed two skulls without the Master Key, but yeah, there may be one behind a locked door

I’ve probably completed this like 10 times, with neg and pos card bonus, no cards, on different difficulties, but it refuses to unlock. So frustrating

Good guide - got almost to the end but the boss skull regenerated his shield 5 times for me. Even with upgraded shotgun shots to the face he wouldn't give in!
I finally succumbed to a hoarde of undead hounds on the landing and decided to call it a day. Tut tut!
Cheers anyway toast

Story-Related. Cannot Be Missed.

In order to unlock this trophy, you need to finish the Lara's Nightmare scenario. The tasks here are simple.

1) Shoot the 3 Skulls Of Rage hidden in the manor

See Enter the Nightmare for more information.

2) Find the Master Key

One of the Skulls of Rage, will be hidden behind a locked door and that means that you will need to get the Master Key, in order to unlock it. In this scenario, the Master Key is not hidden in a specific location, but in a completely random room. Thankfully, if you explore every room in the Manor, you'll find it without too much difficulty and Lara herself will acknowledge that they key is in the room, you're currently inside.

3) Defeat the Final Boss in order to escape the nightmare

The Final Boss of this scenario is Atlas DeMornay in the form of a giant Skull Of Rage that attacks pretty much like the small Skulls of Rage you've met so far. Head behind cover (I covered myself using a pillar in the West wing) and shoot it with your weapon of choice (The shotgun is more than recommended for this mission), until it covers itself with a protection shield. During this period, Atlas will spawn a small number of standard enemies. Defeat them and once it shield drops, head into the same cover again and shoot it. Rinse and repeat for about 3-4 times and Atlas will be defeated, thus ending your Lara's Nightmare playthrough.
