How to unlock the Indestructible. achievement in Rise & Shine - Definitive Guide

Hello guys !

Hardest achievement of Rise & Shine. In Ironman Mode you'll need to finish the game with only one life, you CAN'T die at all !

But here's some tips for this mode:

- The better trick is to pause & quit just before a death or during the animation of the death.
If you see the game over text,it's dead for your playthrough.Even if you quickly dashboard and quit the game, your save will be erased automatically !
After restarting the game, you'll be back on the start of your stage,so that's why it's not so easy for the stage 13.You'll need to pass the hardest battle and the hardest boss in a row, without dying. It's the only hard level. After that, the last stage is incredibly easy :)

- Be careful, because some enemies or traps kills you faster than others,so be prepared to quit quickly (i mean before you take the hit) !
Here's a not exhaustive list of the things who can instakill you: (feel free to complete the list if i missed some things)
- close combat robots
- zombies on stage 6
- big wheels on stage 7 and 13
- big lasers from the 1st boss, mid boss on stage 6,at start of stage 7,on stage 9 during the zombies Goomba part
- zombies Goombas on stage 9
- the fists of the final boss

- Don't press any button after dying by the monolith on stage 7 (story related).
Kill yourself after beating the final boss (story related).
Both things must be explained cause you can ruin a game easily with the monolith.

I suggest you to work a lot on Normal mode to learn perfectly all levels, especially the 13th stage (your worst nightmare in this game).
The game is not too long, you can complete it in about 40 minutes, but it's really frustrating to die on the last level.I really know that feeling. So keep calm and don't lose hope. It's hard but really doable with practice.

Also,my friend IDarK VorteXX found and awesome second way to do it.It's a little bit longer but safer.Check the comments section to read it ! ^^

Good luck and have fun !

Thanks to Zyx and K4rn4ge for the feedback ! toast

I found that pressing 'Start' then going to 'Exit' was painful as most of the time I was slow and would fuck up the run. I used an alternative method which is much more lenient on you when you die. When I died, I pressed the 'Guide' button and went 'Home'. After that I went to 'Manage Game' for Rise & Shine and deleted the LOCAL SAVE. DO NOT DELETE EVERYWHERE. Then reloaded the game and syncd the save from the cloud so I started back at the beginning of the stage I was on.

This way, you wont be risking your run by going back all the way to the start. It's a bit longer but 100% guaranteed you wont lose you run.

In short, this is what you do:
1) When you die, press the guide button and go home.
2) Go to Rise and Shine and press manage game.
3) Deleted the LOCAL save only.
4) Reload Rise and Shine.
5) Either press continue or go to chapter select and select the level you were on.
6) Repeat if necessary.

Lastly, when you get to a new stage/level, I suggest you update the save so it stores it on the cloud. This way, you wont have to repeat the previous stage. To do this, follow the below steps:

1) When you get to a new stage/level, press start and exit to the main menu of the game.
2) When you exit to the main menu, go to level select to make sure the new stage is available.
3) When it is available, press the guide button and quit the game permanently.
4) Reload the game.
5) Either continue or use level select to select the stage you were on.
6) Repeat when necessary.

Exiting the game completely, forces the Xbox One to upload your latest save to the cloud.

This method is longer but is a safer way of restarting the stage.

Hey guys I'm the only one with save issue? In chapter 7 if I go after where you have to die to pass, my game save get corrupted, no more chance to quit and continue and if I go in chapter 8 I lose also all my +1 bullet bonus. Anyone else?

Anyway I can confirm what you said, if go in dashboard the save will disappear because the game still go and is needed too much time to close it before animation of death end

Start works only before dying.Dashboard works when you want, but BEFORE the game over text.
In short: cn_start before dying and cn_guide during a death

I ran into a weird save glitch where my progress on earlier levels was reset (lost extra bullets, and couldn't select continue or earlier levels). I was using IDarK VorteXX's save backup method, but I'm not sure if that's what caused it.
The good news is that I played through the rest of the game using level select, and still got the achievement at the end

Does the IDark VorteXX method works for all levels? from 1 to 13? or you have to go from 8 to 13 at once? Thanks

IDarK VorteXX method still working.

I came here to also confirm it still works. If others are having trouble, make sure you follow the steps of exiting and closing the game upon new levels to assure the cloud is saving your game. The one time I didn't do this, the method didn't work. Maybe MurdaMan09 missed the step?

Ok, while the method works, I am having some issues now. They are the ones that some people above have discussed. Once you get to the monolith, your save gets corrupted. At this point, it seems you can only restart here. However, so many people are still managing to complete it with this method and don't seem to be having this issue. Is everyone else still having this issue and managing 7-end of the game in one perfect run, or is this just a rare thing?

@Johnny S, had that happen just this week with my main. Then I tried to replicate the "progress reset" with a dummy doing all sorts of quit outs mid-load, dashboarding etc. to learn what not to do. No consistency! So... yeah, the game is definitely fucky, people saying that are not crazy, and it seems the monolith can and sometimes will randomly screw up your playthrough.

On the positive side, Rise & Shine is a short game and we still have 2 weeks or so to wrap it up. As long as you get past the monolith madness you should be good to go.
___
P.S. The game resetting your progress shouldn't be confused with cloud backup retrieval -- the latter works fine as long as the Xbox cloud service isn't down and you perform the step to upload & recover correctly.

Looks like I hit the glitch as well, as soon as I entered the giant Colossus to repair its heart(Or it could have been after the game forces you to die for the Golem gate, I didn't check scene select until I had entered the Colossus), I could no longer go back to any level I had beaten before, and lost all my bullet upgrades.

Yep, after repairing the heart, I now can select the scene for the heart, and the one after in level select. So I'm guessing the glitch has something to do with having to die for the Golem gate.

@ACrtnShadeOfR3d

Make sure you don't quit the game while deleting your local save, if you fully quit the game, the cloud save will overwrite. But if you die, then press home, then go to manage and delete the local save while the game is still running, it will be fine.

You also have to fully quit the game when you reach a new scene, and wait a few seconds for it to overwrite the cloud save.

Alright, just beat it on Ironman, that was actually pretty simple with the backup cloud save method, almost would say easy. Died less than 5 times on those last two fights. Maybe 10-12 or so deaths overall the whole time. Less than 4 and half hours for the full completion.

So if you're decent at 2D shooters, there's no way you won't be able to finish this with the cloud save backup method outlined by IDarK VorteXX.

As of today the cloud save trick still works. I wanted to note a few things for those who may get confused.

Note 1: You do not have to go home for this to work. as soon as you die, press the guide button, go to the game, press start, then game and add ons.

Note 2: Once in game and add ons it should show the game, updates, and saved data. Go to saved data and click to delete from xbox. That is your local data.

Note 3: This originally did not work for me until I installed the game from my external hard drive to my xbox.

Note 4: The glitch at level 7 is still there, just check your level select and keep scrolling right to get to the proper level because "Continue" will be greyed out.

Note 5: Screw the devs of this game for allowing enemies to kill you while you're locked in place during some on screen animation XD

Yeah, I had that happen a couple times, the game would move the camera for a certain movement, but since there were still grenades on the screen, they still killed me even though I could not move.

Fuck this achievement, his game, and this developer.

I haven't had luck deleting the save from my Xbox while online without it saving to the cloud and deleting my progress. So I came up with a slightly different strategy on the save-scumming:

- As soon as you start a stage, hit the Guide button, choose "Settings", "Network" and "Go Offline". This will physically prevent the game's bullshit from overwriting the cloud.

- If you die, just delete the save from your Xbox. Go back online and restart the game. It will sync your status from the cloud. Go back offline. Continue from where you left off.

- When you reach the end of a stage, before you walk off-screen or end dialog or whatever to advance, go back online.

- As soon as you get to a stage where you want to make sure your progress is saved, exit the game to the main menu and press "Y" to "Change Profile". The game will upload your status to the cloud. Give the game a few seconds, then select your account, and go back offline.

- Continue from where you left off.

- If you forget to go back online before doing the end scene, just go back online and reload that last "stage". It's just the temple. You'll get the achievement during the credit roll.

Sometimes, this might not take between levels and you'll have to play an extra level again. Having to replay an extra level is better than having to mad-button mash through the Legendary Hero's unnecessarily long opening death scene for the 100th time.

As noted previously, the instant you die by the monolith on stage 7, you lose all of your current progress. This include all secrets and chests, so your ammo will reset when you reload the game. It's a testament to how obnoxious this developer is that they didn't account for the game's own fucking story in how this hateful achievement's mechanics work.

Fuck. This. Game.

So, my cloud saves just decided to never work correctly after the first time beating this game. I deleted every save state on my console and on the cloud. I restarted the game from scratch. I beat the game on normal, again. Save states seemed to be A-ok upon beating each level on normal. Then I got to the last level, beat it and started the whole game from Iron man mode. I made it quite far without dying once until LVL 8. Then I did the whole delete local save thing while still in the game. Well, everything seemed ok. It let me continue... FROM THE LAST LEVEL ON THE NORMAL PLAYTHROUGH!!! WHY DIDN'T IT SAVE A SINGLE LEVEL'S PROGRESS ON IRON MAN MODE?!?! This just shows that if you got a cloud save glitch, you may be screwed when you do start a new game no matter what! It seems the game does what it wants with whoever it wants. I don't think I'll be trying this anymore. This is even more frustrating than the Deadlight: DC Achievement for beating the game without dying on hard, because at least the save states between acts work! You just have to do it all in one sitting or just never play another game if you turn your console off while going for it. This... You just have to do the whole game perfect if your save glitches in the cloud. Whatever communication is going on between the game and the cloud is totally messed up.

I am curious why some people are having issues with the cloud saves. I've used them as backups for a few games now and I've never had an issue with them. I want to assume they are doing it wrong, but it's so simple to do I have to wonder if it's something else?

Just so everyone is aware, you may have to always be signed in to Live if you have this game on Game Pass. If you use the method where you disconnect from the internet at the end of each level so that you don't screw up the cloud saves by dying and not making it to the console save in time or you somehow screw up after dying, you run a big risk of corrupting the cloud save and you might not be able to reuse it until you delete all the save data and start from scratch. So, essentially, the best method for Game Pass subscribers is to use the normal: beat a level, wait until the next one loads, exit to title, quit game completely, let the cloud sync for a second, delete local save (just to check that the cloud is working), reload game let cloud sync. That being, the method to approach with after dying is the normal: hit guide button ASAP and go straight to game file and delete local save immediately (still no guarantee this works every time, as this is how I started to play it). The thing I can say for the internet disconnect/reconnect Cloud no-sync glitch/corruption is that if you get to the last level before trying this method and get it to glitch a save there, the cloud save never seems to want to be overwritten anymore on Iron Man mode in this case, so it is infinitely reloadable, upon local file deletion and game restart, without having to worry about the cloud being overwritten. So it makes the cloud save get stuck and I'm taking a huge guess that it's if you have this with Game Pass. I can confirm that the level 7 glitch happened for me during this run as well and will not save past level 7 and I even beat the level 8 boss without returning to menu and just played through 7-8 back to back and went to menu at the start of 9 to no avail (I'm thinking this is also a Game Pass players' issue, but cannot officially confirm this nor the offline mode save glitch I guess until this game is purchased at retail to compare experiences). So, beware of how you approach beating this mode! I guess I just refuse to give up on this one and am giving it another go and my saves are finally syncing with the regular method and being extra cautious.
I'm giving up on this until it's 80% off on sale. It's way too expensive for a broken game. Hopefully the actual retail version is not the same as the Game Pass version in this way, but I'll take that risk when it makes sense.

The game isn't really all that hard, it's just about making sure you don't get screwed at moments you forget about, knowing the boss patterns, running/dodging under bullets more than just blasting through them especially for certain enemy types like the mini bot and the shield bots (though on the last boss this is made ever the more difficult when the mini-bot comes out and you're also dodging the fists, bullet barrage or rockets, which are most of his attacks).

Good luck to everyone with this before it leaves GP!

Clad maybe I gave a bad explanation in my previous comment, for my experience dash and start work in the same way, you have to do it before dying or during the animation of dead but start is much faster then dashboard. Some dead as granade, are instant kill, there is no animation, if you don't push start before die you lose your checkpoint

Hi ! After the update you must quit before or during a death. After it's too late and you'll miss the cheevo.
Some deaths are quicker than others and you can't quit with cn_start so try to dashboard quickly during the animation.
Good luck !

What happened to me, is that after a certain point in the game (I don't remember if it was exactly after the monolith), I lost the progress of what I had done in the previous chapters, like collectable targets and extra ammunition.

In addition to that, I was also not able to use the "continue" option from game main menu for some time. However, I was still able to select the exact chapter that I had my last save by using the chapter selection option. This problem did not avoid the Achievement.

Regarding the saving itself, with the exception of what I described above, I had no other problem following the |Dark VorteXX method. I mean, even after this "glitch", I was able to keep using the backup cloud method in the next chapters until the last one.

This is kinda bullshit. You cannot get hit by any instadeath enemy or it ruins the online save instantly. It would be best to try to just go offline upon the initial resynching from the cloud save to try this every time, and then on a successful level completion or right before the end of a level, reconnect and pray that it syncs and then disconnect again, but try to ensure the local file is keeping record of level progress. I couldn't get it to sync to level 6 and did a dashboard to local file delete when I died and it put me back on 5, but then I got insta'd and immediately went and deleted the local save and it had already synced to the cloud... The first time I was very slow to get to the local save file to delete it and it totally let me continue upon resynching from level 5 after my first death of a run. This achievement is BS, because it's definitely relying on you to use exploits or just buy this to try to get pro at. It's still not an easy road either way, because it makes you work for both methods. I guess it's good in a way, but just annoying for completionists.

You have to let it sync to the cloud - after each level complete, quit the game and reload. This will force it to sync to the cloud.
I just beat this game on normal, I had considered getting this achievement because the game is short but honestly it's a nightmare, the final boss sucks, I can live without this.
