How to unlock the Glory Hunter achievement in Risk: Factions - Definitive Guide

Some have had trouble with unlocking this, so I would recommend doing this with a friend so you can control all factors.

* Host all 10 wins yourself
* Let the opponent capture at least one territory

Thereby I would recommend playing 2-player games for this one. You should be able to finish the Proving Grounds map within three rounds (All 4 Barracks, Garrison region (the region with the SE barrack) and Two continents objectives)

Some have managed to get this by letting the opponent quit out, but that also seem to mess up the stats of the one that quits, so it's safer but still quick to do it this way.

I can confirm that quiting out does not count as a win, even though its say you won at the end.

That Proving Grounds strategy is exactly how I got Win #10. (I was a bit lucky; I had all the Garrison territories right off the bat.)

In general, I found that the 2- or 3-player quick or normal Control Room games were best. I was often able to win in 3 rounds, and shorter games means both that your opponents are less likely to rage-disconnect, and that the game is less likely to freeze (which is does, often). All in all I'm glad to be done with this achievement...

@tajbender -- You can check your stats under "War Record".

You need to use the badges you get for completing the objectives. If you pick star every time the game will go on.

Whenever I play someone and they quit, the game says I won but the War Records indicate a loss. I still haven't gotten to 10 wins because few people will complete the game. I recommend playing with a friend who will actually complete the level with you.

I've won 35 in ranked now roughly even amounts of winning whole and host quitting and still nothing!! Very frustrating if anyone has any advice please let me know.

The safest is to win 10 in a row without host quitting, I can't really give any more advice than. So the safest way is boosting.

Used this method. For my matches the opponent did nothing, but on the last he captured one territory. Bloop bleep, achievement popped. I had tried the conceed method but it didn't unlock so this method secured it for me.

Hmm, interesting, my buddy & I did it last night, and while occasionally the losing player would take over a territory, often we did matches where the losing player wouldn't even do a single attack, and it unlocked for both of us at exactly 10 wins.

Clarification: "unlocked for both of us at exactly 10 wins each" So it would seem having the losing player successfully attack a territory is not necessary.

2 person boost. Host creates 2 player quick match. Guest takes hosts capital on the first move, then host "concedes" game and the guest gets the win. We took turns alternating host, it took about 50mins from start to finish. We did this from 2 different countries and achievement still popped. Completed on 9/26/14.

We boosted for this achievement tonight, and quitting does work for this achievement.

Set up 2 player games with Factions, Ranked, Command Room, Random, Quick Games.

Now after placing the first capital, the host quits out and the other player wins this achievement.

Thanks to The Other Guys that boosted tonight!

You also commented on the Master & Commander achievement that it doesn't work, but we tried this and it worked for us. All I can add is that we all needed to win 11 or 12 games to get this achievement, so there is something somewhere that hasn't been posted by anyone yet. I think it's a matter of timing when to quit, so wait a bit, place your capital, maybe even start the first turn of the not-host. But there is NO need to win 3 objectives. I wouldn't post this if I hadn't experienced it first hand. I played the first 6 games by winning 3 objectives, but the last 4 I won using this exact method.

I think the key here is that it has to be the host quitting. I was the host a bunch of times and had people concede on me, and my win total never increased.

It looks like Conceding actually works. You should add that in because someone I was boosting with last night said it wouldn't give you a win if you did that. I'll change my vote on both solutions and remove my earlier comments.

Just tried this method and I didn't get the achievement, not even the play 5 games or the man Up achievements popped up (was playing with a friend that already had the Man Up)...

Had to play the game, we did it in Proving Grounds and almost alwyas after 3 rounds I had the 3 objectives and got the 3 achievements...

But unfortunately this didn't work :(

Tried this solution exactly with another guy and it did not work for me. He got the cheev after a few games, but he had played and won 2 or 3 on his own. We also, just to see, tried having me host and him quit out and no confetti came, no cheev either. I did not get the "Soldier" cheev either during any of this, so going to try another solution to see if it works. Not voting negative because this works for some, but just wanted to let you know it was 50/50 for me and another guy.

Keep in mind that your "War Record" Wins is your total throughout the game. unranked/ranked and computer. Other wise it worked like a charm. I never played or finished a match all the way out and got all the MP chevos. just place capitals like it says and have the host concede the game....pop!

It worked for me, and I can confirm wins with no confetti doesn´t count. After 10 confetti wins, achievement unlocked :P

This is definitely temperamental. A friend and I were boosting. He hosted the first 10, quitting after I had captured a territory. I got Soldier and Glory Hunter. We then switched with me hosting and quitting after he captured a territory. He didn't even get Soldier. As far as we could tell, we both did the same actions. Next time, we can try quitting right after capitals are placed, to make sure we're completely tied before I (the host) concedes.

- my friend hosts
- we both place capital
- my friend concedes game
x10
= achievement for me, then we repeated for him to get it.

the hint here, apart from the war record, is that the winner has to get a win screen with confetti all over the screen. we tried another method and we were getting win screen without confetti and the chievo didn't pop.

Just to add my experience, I did exactly what was suggested here, and got the Soldier achievement right at 5 games (other guy hosted, and he quit out on the next turn after we had both placed our capitals). When we got to 10 games however, the Glory Hunter achievement did NOT unlock. We tried a couple more quit outs with no success. We then played ONE legit game, and made sure I'd win it. And Glory Hunter unlocked right after the match ended.

So, it may be that you only need to play one legit match.

Just finished up a boosting session and the way it worked for us was: ( if you dont want to read all this scroll down )

we did the 5 player cheevo which counted as one win and then someone left so we split into 2 pairs.

my partner and i took turns hosting a factions, ranked, command room game. You can search it in custom games and make sure you get the right room, if youre host you can actually kick people who you wont want in your room.( kind of defeats the purpose of ranked in a way... )

when i hosted we would both place our capitals and my partner would take over my capital and me being the host would quit. The other group in our party tried it the reverse way and they didnt get the confetti and the happy leader of whatever group you were. So assuming the confetti is in correlation with this achievement the host has to quit.

Some say you just have to place the capital but we just placed them side by side and the non host would take over the host's capital and the host would quit the game. Including the first win from the 5 person cheevo it took exactly 9 wins to get this. Therefor this achievement can be done by quitting out if you do it right.

Short Version-
host 2 player ranked command room game
place both capitals
non host takes over enemy capital
host quits out
should take exactly 10 wins

I only tried your method for 2 games because that's when I saw it... I tried the method above yours and it didn't work, so I was playing normally with a friend, he was doing nothing and I would get the 3 objectives of the game and get the win...

I finished the 8th game when I saw your method, we tried it for the last two games and it didn't work... so we played the final two games like we did the other 8 and the achievement unlocked...

So, for me your method also didn't work :( No luck for me today

This is the exact method we did this today and it unlocked only for me and not for my partner. Guess he has to go through the actual winning solution.

Hi guys. I noticed that these guides all refer to boosting.

If your like me and prefer to get your achievements legitimately where possible, then here is an easy way;

Host up a command room game ideally 5 players and then you can get the "win 5 player command room game" achievement also. Rush to get the three objectives making sure that you retain your capital at all costs, (if you lose control of capital you cannot win via objectives until you re-take it). Once you get the three objectives you automatically win the game.

Now this usually takes the players by surprise and prevents rage quitting, thus securing you a win which is recorded as such and definitely counts towards this achievement.

Activity is dropping on this game, I have found the best time to go on for online players is between 6pm and 3am (UK time).

There are mixed opinions on people quitting counting as a win. Now I have found that when all players quit and you are left, although it says you are the winner it does not actually count as a win, in fact it counts as a loss. This was confirmed for me by checking the war record. I do not believe it counts towards the achievement if everyone quits.

I have found that the best way to guarantee a proper win is to secure the 3 objectives in command room. If you play world conquest people will mainly rage quit and prevent you from collecting a win.

Stick with the command room method and you will soon get this achievement.

****************************************************************
Hope this helps, please comment if giving negative feedback, this is my first guide, I will amend any mistakes or things I have missed.

This is a guide to boost this achievement and wins:
-When its buggy using the quit out method its because you are from different countries.
-Have the person going for the achievement not host. Then place your capitals and have the other player take over at least one territory. Once you each have a turn and it is the achievement getter's turn, the host can quit out and achievement unlocked.
-If quitting does not work, you can simply play a very quick game. Proving Grounds works great just make sure you get one objective each turn. Not sure if the host matters for this as I did it a few days ago but let me know and I'll add it in.

This is a guide to boost this achievement and wins:
-When its buggy using the quit out method its because they are from different countries.
-If the quit out method works you want to have someone not getting the achievement host. Then you make sure everyone places there capital and the person going for the achievement takes over at least one country during his turn. Once everyone has had at least one turn, you make sure that it is the person going for the achievement's turn. Now the 3 other non-hosts quit, then the host quits, and viola! achievement unlocked for the remaining person.
-If this does not happen then you have to do it the slow way. Have the achivement getter host a game and then let them win. It is quickest to do the objectives in case you were wondering.

Any suggestions, let me know. I threw this together because this is what has worked for me in getting the RISK achievements and I want to help everyone else. I know other strategies will work this is just how I boosted.

As, the description says, win 10 ranked games on PSN. Because of the inconsistency in being able to find players online (particularly those that will stay until the end of a losing game) you are best off again utilizing the Trophy Boosting Thread in order to find a partner to knock this out with.

0
0
Simple, if there is a partner for boosting. Choose:

PSN->Factions->player match->create game->command room->random->quick game->1 private ****->3 players (there are also cards for two of them + you can set up bots)->select a map ->sending an invitation to a friend.

One holds the bots, the other completes tasks, and so on until victory and a trophy.

PS At the same time, it’s better to play on those maps where you haven’t won yet (for the 5 Star General trophy)
