How to unlock the Deicide achievement in Risk of Rain 2 - Definitive Guide

With the introduction of the artifacts in the last free update, it is now possible to get this achievement, and I suppose the rest of them, using artifacts. So this game just got a lot easier.

Here you can find all the information regarding them and how to get them: https://riskofrain2.gamepedia.com/Artifacts

I suggest you to search some videos on Youtube on how to unlock them aswell. Woolie has an amazing channel dedicated to the game and his videos will pop up as soon as you search anything regarding artifacts or the game in general.

Not really a guide but I will tell you how I did it:

1.- I unlocked Artifact of Command (the best of the artifacts really) and Artifact of Honor playing in Easy for about 45 mins.

2.- Start a game in Moonson with both artifacts activated. Pick whichever character you feel most comfortable playing with. I did this with the Huntress and is very well know to be one of the worst in the game. That will tell you something on how much easier it is this way.

3.- Clear the stage as good as you can and open all the chests that you can. You can search a video for the best builds in Woolie's channel, but I will put the best items in each category (at least the best to do this achievement anyway, although is very very difficult to spawn a red item in the first level):

3.1.- Common items:
https://riskofrain2.gamepedia.com/Armor-Piercing_Rounds
https://riskofrain2.gamepedia.com/Lens-Maker%27s_Glasses
https://riskofrain2.gamepedia.com/Tougher_Times (very very good if you can stack 4-5, in case you can't, go for the other two.)
3.2.- Uncommon items:
https://riskofrain2.gamepedia.com/Old_Guillotine
3.3.- Legendary items:
https://riskofrain2.gamepedia.com/Brilliant_Behemoth
https://riskofrain2.gamepedia.com/Sentient_Meat_Hook
3.4.- Equipment items:
https://riskofrain2.gamepedia.com/Preon_Accumulator

I would say those are the best for this achievement, but I found that the combo Armor-Piercing Rounds + Old Guillotine + Preon Accumulator is almost a MUST If you want to make this as easy and fast as possible for yourself.

4.- When you are done with the chests (you should have around 6-8 items), activate the teleport and kill the boss, that will be an elite 100%, like all enemies, since you have the Artifact of Honor activated. Be patient since a lot of elites will spawn with the boss. Work yourself the best way around them that you can, the battle can be as long as you need it to be, If you find yourself on the brink of death, you can retreat to find a safe spot to heal yourself.

Not really a guide as I said, but you can try the way that I did. In fact, you can make this easier by unlocking and activating other artifacts, but I found this easy enough for me at least. There are multiple of ways of doing this now that the RNG component of the Elite Boss is out of the way.

Good guide - I think you're underselling the Huntress though. She might not be as tanky as others on longer runs/higher in-run difficulties but you probably want to get this before it ramps up to Medium anyway and her mobility/auto-aiming makes things a whole lot easier.

Yes, I love it because of the auto-aiming and her mobility. I almost got this cheevo two times using her without artifacts tho. The game is pretty balanced anyway, and with the right artifacts this achievements is really not that hard.
Thanks for the feedback!

Would anyone with these artifacts be willing to help me get this achievement? I've been trying to get it for the pass 2 days now and I keep getting obliterated by the Vagrants.

Apparently using the artifact that makes all enemies the same nullifies the achievement? Since the boss that spawned was just a buffed floating fireball..

Probably the easiest way to get this is achievement is by first unlocking the character Acrid and then unlocking Artifact of Honor.

1) To unlock Acrid you must complete the challenge "...To Be Left Alone".

To do this, first acquire a lunar coin if you do not have one already, head into the Bazar Between Time (play a game on drizzle difficulty) by activating a newt alter before doing the teleportal event. Once there jump down behind the teleportal into the large endless pit. Along the back wall is a secret area where there is a new teleportal. Taking this portal will take you to the Void Fields, here you will need to charge 9 cells by staying in them while fighting off enemies. Finishing all 9 cells unlocks Acrid as a playable character.

2) How to obtain the Artifact of Honor.

Start up a game on drizzle difficulty, make your way to stage 5 and finish the teleportal event. Once done, look around for a lower platform at the very bottom of the map. You will eventually find an old looking teleportal with an area containing buttons you can press. Look to the left of this area to find a slab with a code written on it. The pattern is cube all long the sides and a pyramid in the middle. Hit the buttons to match this and go over to the laptop and interact with it. Head into the newly opened portal, once inside you will need to collect keys and interact with the floating cube in the middle. The first key is located in the area you are in, the others are obtained from enemy drops. This will take several minutes as the drop rate for the keys are not super high. Once enough keys are collected and deposited into the middle, the waves of enemies will and end and you can now collect your artifact. Leave the area via portal, you can now quit to the main menu.

3) Start up a game on Monsoon difficulty, turn on the artifact, and pick Acrid as your character, immediately look for the teleportal and start the event. Hit the boss with your long range spit abilities and run around taking cover from hits. Every several seconds re-hit the boss to keep the damage over time going, repeat until the boss dies and you will unlock the achievement.

Below is a video of how to find the secret portal and how I defeated the elite boss with Acrid.

Once you've gotten the hang of any particular character, the best chance you have of encountering an Elite Boss will be to activate a Shrine of the Mountain on any stage past 3.
You will know the boss is Elite when it has an adverb/adjective prefacing it's name.

Instead of Beetle Queen, you would have *Blazing* Beetle Queen, as an example.

However, I've found that boss fights that are collections of smaller monsters, Beetles, Wisps, etc., do not count as bosses, though boss fights that are multiple boss-type monsters will count.

This is one of the hardest achievements in the game. While playing on Monsoon difficulty (which is the hardest difficulty), you need to have a teleporter boss spawn as its elite version, and then you need to beat it. Considering you've likely been playing on Drizzle the entire time, Monsoon will be a decent step up in difficulty. I don't recommend attempting this until you've gotten a good amount of experience in the base game. Beyond that, you absolutely want to have unlocked the following:

  • The Engineer - this character is the easiest to play as and best for this achievement. He's unlocked by completing 30 stages cumulatively, which has its own achievement, Engineering Perfection (30G)
  • Artifact of Honor - see the roadmap for unlocking this Artifact. This makes all enemies elites. This will obviously make the game harder, since all regular enemies will now be elite, but the reason this is important is because, without it, you'd be forced to progress through stage after stage on Monsoon difficulty, and hope that a teleporter boss eventually spawns as elite. Since Monsoon is quite difficult, that would make this achievement pretty tough, as well as introduce an RNG aspect to it. To avoid that, having the Artifact of Honor active will guarantee the boss of the first stage is elite
  • Artiface of Sacrifice and Artiface of Command - the former is very important, because it allows you to farm enemies to build up items before fighting the boss on the first stage, and the latter lets you build exactly what you want
  • Old Guillotine (green item) - this item makes this achievement far easier. It makes elite enemies instantly die when they reach a certain health threshold, so stacking these is really important. I call this item out specifically because it doesn't have an achievement tied to unlocking it, only an ingame challenge: kill 500 elite enemies cumulatively. You'll make tons of progress towards this from working on everything else, but if you're ready to tackle this achievement and don't have it yet, I recommend playing with the Artifact of Honor active so all enemies are elite, and kill them until the challenge completes. Now you'll have access to the Old Guillotine for this achievement.
Once you have all that ready, go ahead and start up a run on Monsoon difficulty, making sure all three of those Artifacts are active. I preferred to restart until I got Titanic Plans. The verticality of Distant Roost can make it a pain to collect item drops from enemies, especially if the teleporter is at the top and enemies are dropping items all the way down to the bottom. Rush right to the teleporter (look for the fireflies) but do NOT activate it. Set up your turrets nearby, and now you're going to farm enemies for some time. Here's what you're after:

White items
  • Bustling Fungus - one or two stacks
  • Lens Maker's Glasses - at least a few
  • Armor-Piercing Rounds - at least two or three
Green Items
  • Missile Mk1 - at least one
  • Hopoo Feather - one, just so you have a way to avoid fall damage in case you get knocked up into the air, which is pretty likely
  • Old Guillotine - as many as you can stack (a solid 3-4)
Equipment
  • Missile Launcher
If you happen to be lucky enough to get a red item drop, Brilliant Behemoth is probably your best bet.

I spent around 10-15 minutes grinding items. You'll actually likely get more green items than white ones, due to the difficulty and everyone being elite. Don't jump into the boss fight too soon. Better to have more items than not enough.

When you feel like you're ready, before activating the teleporter, make sure you set down two new turrets (so they have all of the items you've been collecting) and put them close enough to each other that their Bustling Fungus healing zones overlap, so they heal themselves and each other. Activate the teleporter, then run to your turrets, drop your bubble shield around them, then get the hell out of there, away from the boss fight. If you managed to get a Missile Launcher equipment, use that as you flee. Let your turrets do all the work, and run away to safety. If they don't survive and the boss does, wait for the cooldown to finish so you have both turrets ready again, then run back in, drop them, drop the shield, and run away again. Repeat this until the boss is dead.

Note that, in the event two bosses spawn, you actually only need to kill one for this achievement, not both.

On the "Rainy Season" difficulty, you need to find three shrines of Mountain on the same level and turn them on - the teleport boss will become elite. At later levels, fewer altars will need to be enabled.

You can open an artifact, which changes all mobs to elite ones, and start a new game with this artifact. Kill the boss on the first map and the trophy is yours
