How to unlock the Newtist achievement in Risk of Rain 2 - Definitive Guide

Newt alters can be found on most levels in the game, and in fact most levels have more than 1 unique newt alter location in them. To activate them one must spend a Lunar coin before starting the teleportal event. To obtain Lunar coins you can do the following:

1) Play the game, enemies have a semi rare chance to drop a coin.

2) Play until stage 7 (difficulty does not matter) and go through the celestial portal to find the obelisk. This will end your current run but grant 5 lunar coins for doing so.

I would suggest doing some lunar coin runs by getting to stage 7 and ending at the obelisk a few times before attempting this.

Once you have at least 8 lunar coins start a new run and look for newt alters in each stage before starting the teleportal events. Once found interact with it and move on to the next level.

You will need to activate 8 unique alters to unlock the achievement. Below is a video containing what I think are some of the easiest locations for alters. Of course this is not an extensive list by any means. Also characters that are more mobile (Loader and Mercenary) from the start are the best characters to reach some of these.

Is there a reason i have the challenge completed and still don't have the achievement?

Did you go for actively or did you just notice that it was completed already? I would try attempting to find more alters and use them to see if the achievement unlocks. You should have unlocked it if the challenge is done but it could be a bug.

Have you tried deleting your saved data on your hard drive and cloud? Then doing it again?

A couple of questions

1. Do I need a lunar coin to activate them?

2. Can any class reach the height that some of these are located?

1) Yes you do.
2) Some can, however there are items that give you more jumps in the game (Hopoo Feather) so anyone can technically get them eventually.

Do they all need to be in one run or can they be spread out across many, as long as they're unique?

Just unique, it can be spread across multiple runs.

Newt Altars are round blue pedestals hidden in every stage. Every stage will have a single Newt Altar in it to find, but it can be in at least three (and up to five) different spawn locations. Note that each of these spawn locations counts as a separate unique altar for this achievement. As a result, you could actually get this achievement in Stage 1 alone, because Titanic Plains has three spawn locations, its map variant has another three spawn locations, and then Distant Roost is the same way (two map variants with three spawn locations each).

To activate a Newt Altar, you'll first need a Lunar Coin though. As a results, you'll want to save this achievement for later, when you have more Lunar Coins. Since Lunar Coins are rare, you should also pair this achievement with Moon Worshipper (30G) since you'll need lots of Lunar Coins for that achievement, and will need to activate at least two Newt Altars for that achievement too. Refer to that achievement solution for more information on how to obtain Lunar Coins.

As for the actual spawn locations of Newt Altars, refer to the following video. Full credit to Subhaste. As mentioned above, every individual spawn location counts as a unique Altar for this achievement.

At all levels there are several newt altars, they look like blue eggs or balls and each time they stand in different places. When you approach them, an inscription appears that says something like “donate to Triton.” Do this eight times. And if such an inscription does not appear, then this is not what is needed.
