How to unlock the River City Ransom achievement in River City Girls - Definitive Guide

This is not a cumulative achievement. It will unlock when one of your characters gets $5000 saved up all at once. This includes characters you're not using, who gain money (and experience) as you complete quests.

If you were to play one of the girls only, the other girl would have $5000 about halfway through a New Game+, and the achievement would unlock at that point without having to switch over. This is the best way to go about it if you're a solo player, as you really need to be buying all the food and skills you can on your active character, and your other girl will be too weak to grind with.

If you're trying to grind this out on drops alone, there's no special way to do this other than just going from screen to screen killing everyone. This is extremely slow, however. The coin purse accessory from the shop in front of the Noize concert will give you a 5% chance at double money drops, but it hardly speeds it up. I strongly suggest just completing major quests to get the money fastest.

Also, before you begin your NG+, you should probably fight the secret boss since that counts as a quest and gives a huge amount of experience and money. The secret boss is accessed from the same room as the final boss by equipping an accessory you get from destroying all the statues, and another accessory you get from simply beating the game. Hasabe Charm and Mami Charm.

Do you recall if money carries over to NG+ ?
I played through on normal difficulty and had just over 4k with the character I was not using after defeating the secret boss. Tempted to grind out the remainder if the money doesn't carry through to NG+

Hey, I just wanted to update this in case you are playing and are like me and you die and notice they take away over $300 each time. Unless it was patched since I started the game it no longer has to be collected all at once, as soon as I beat the final boss, you get rewarded with $1000 and as soon as the credits rolled and we're done the achievement unlocked for me.. when I started the game I had $1118. So it looks like it is overall collective and you don't have to save it up.

Same here - had it pop at the credits - with only about $2,000 to my name

This must have been patched and changes to cumulative because when I beat the first run I had only 1200 on hand when I beat Sabuto it gave it to me before the credits started. It does not need to be all at once.

It doesnt seem to be retroactive. I never got an update either when I loaded game after several months of not playing. I have $3500 on one Character alone right now and have maxed out two characters and beat the game. So not working for me, I surely would have gotten it by now

Edit: Got achievement at $5000. I had around 8 grand on all characters combined but achievement only unlocked with the 5k on one character.

This sounds harder than it actually is. Just keep in mind that all characters receive money and XB boni, regardless if you play them or not. My primary character was Kyoko, so hardly played and spent any money with Misako. For me, the trophy unlocked about at 80% of my "New Game+" run, when Misakos funds reached 5.000$

Notice however: Every time you get K.O.'d, you will loose HALF OF YOUR CURRENT MONEY AMOUNT. However, you can avoid this by exiting and restarting the game via the dashboard BEFORE you respawn and continue playing.
