The first spear you get is the Crab Spear which is in the first area (Kill the Crab Nests) of the first level, Restwater Valley. There are a lot of crabs as well as other enemies so you will get the achievement pretty quickly.

I found the spear weapon terrible, so I'd suggest getting this early with the first spear type you find.
