How to unlock the Written in the Stars achievement in Riverbond - Definitive Guide

There are two ways to about this achievement. You can collect the large star coin in nearly every level. If you just want the achievement, collect the star coin in the first level of the first adventure, and complete the level. When the next level loads up, exit and repeat the process until you unlock the achievement.

Good point. I would say to try locating as many coins as you can throughout your playthrough, then if you haven't collected 35 by then, this solution will work.

you can collect the star in the first level then quit out and restart the level and collect it again. no need to complete the level for the star to count

Good to know that you don't have to find every star in every level, and can recollect the same one multiple times.
However, probably a smarter use of time to do this at the very end because you'll find plenty just from playing normally. I have 11 stars from 3 levels so far. I may be close to all 35 by the time i finish all 8.
UPDATE: I got 35 before I finished all 8 levels, and even came across a few more that I didn't bother to collect.

I've watched this with the achievement pinned on screen as I felt I should have had it so I pinned it at the start of level 8 at 94%, didn't register some of the ones I picked up. Same for the skins one. Picking up the one in the first level again doesn't work for me.

EDIT: Actually looking at some of the other achievements I need for speaking to people in the last world , I should have unlocked them, as you can't miss Eldra Rex for example she's right there at the start of one of the levels. So it looks like these all bugged and stopped tracking for me. Might try deleting the save as I can just back into level 8 right away.

Yes, same here, my 25 stars keep stucked at 9x% then after quit the game and start again it unlock and now for 35 stars it stucked at 97% and already got 2-3 stars but won't register, will try to quit and start again. if not may need to delete save.

Just delete all save (cloud and local) and start tutorial again, unlock both 35 stars (1 left) and 35 skins (2 left) after complete tutorial.

The secret area at desert is also glitched for me, after remove all save, try again and it unlock immediately after enter the secret area!

Stars pickups are glitched for me. Stuck at 85%, I’ve gotten way more than that and it never goes up.

Finally popped and weirdly here’s how: Percentage only went up from 85% after playing the first level ONCE each day for about 4 days. If I played any other level after that and collected more stars the percentage would never increase.

98% of the stars is easy to find on first playthrough, so it's pointless to repeat same level over and over again. The levels is small, and it doesen't take much time to check the few places a star can be.
There is around 40 stars in total, and only 2 or so is more hidden.

Picking up earlier picked up star does count toward this achievement. You can pick up the star in the first adventure, which is very close to the start and quit to the main menu and reenter the level to pick it up again. Restarting a level doesn't work, you have to go back to the main menu.

There is usually one star in every level, although not every single one. Explore every level thoroughly and look for secret areas on the sides of the map, tops of the map and even under the map. You may have to drop to secret ledges or jump up to access these areas. They aren't overly difficult, so I won't post all 35 star locations. The guy that makes the video below has videos for every level, so if you're stuck you can always click below and watch his videos.
