Story related, can't be missed.
You can pick up and use a secondary weapon from a dead body until you retrieve your Auto-9. However, my game was bugged and it would not allow me to change to a new secondary weapon on the floor. I had to grab and throw things off enemies because I completely ran out of ammo. Use your ammo wisely if you can in case you get the same issue as me
