Simply do not move; keep your thumb away from the left control stick. What you want to do is use the right control stick (or buttons) to kill all of the enemies without moving.
If you mess up, it's not really that big a deal because it's only wave 1.

Do not touch the left thumbstick. Just stand there and fire until you've killed off all enemies. Not hard. Again, restarting isn't a big hassle because its only level 1.
