How to unlock the Band Savior achievement in Rock Band 2 - Definitive Guide

1) Hook up A guitar (bass) and a drumkit on EASY.
2) Play Guitar on Medium.
3) Choose "Hello There as the song"
4) You will be able to perform 3 saves before you all fail out, and still get the achievement. :D

This definitely works. If you're trying to do this by yourself, you can also beat on the drum petal to make the drums' first fail come even faster. Without doing that I ended up having trouble building up overdrive before the guitar failed out.

To clarify...the solution poster was indeed recommending using 3 instruments (you play guitar while the drums and bass are allowed to keep failing).

Also, this song probably is the "best" for this particular solo technique because it allows you to earn overdrive quickly because the song is so short. With most songs, you would seemingly fail out before getting a chance to rebuild your overdrive 3 times.

I believe you also have to finish the song for the ach to unlock. I was able to get 3 saves on a different song, but then failed out before getting to the end and didn't get the ach. If you do exactly as mlodoss says (do not play any notes on the drum or bass), you will get your 3rd save right before the end of the song. The ach will unlock after the song on the screen with the final statistics. Here is in more detail how it will work (assumes you get all overdrive notes):
- You will get overdrive bar completely full.
- Drums will fail first, save Drums, will still have half bar of overdrive left.
- Bass will fail soon after, save Bass.
- Overdrive will build back to half full just before guitar solo.
- Drums and Bass will fail almost simultaneously, save both.
- Song ends just a few notes later.

You can also switch out the drums for vocals and get the achievement.

yeah, I would rewrite the solution to clarify that you are hooking up 3 separate instruments, Guitar (M), Bass (E), Drums (E) and playing the guitar.

Original solution to me read only drum and bass req so wasted a few attempts - didn't let me deploy 3rd time.

Tried instead with me on bass (med) and guitar (easy) and mic (easy). Played most of notes on guitar before singing part started (so it didn't time out too early) then switched to main guitar for rest of song. Didn't touch mic. Popped first attempt

Thumbs up for good idea and song selection. Thanks

Perfect solution. Saved one, then the other, then both at once, then the song ended. Big thumbs up.

You can also do this with three instruments and just leave the other two to fail or have a friend play one of them, and focus on the one you are best at/prefer playing. I set up a drum kit and had my girlfriend playing vocals while I played guitar. While I did guitar on expert, I reccomend a lower setting to guarantee success. Because there are two instruments failing, it is important to try to manage another instrument at the same time, either by having a friend use it or by using two at once (vocals/guitar, if you can). I had the drum kit fail twice overall when it came to that (it was on easy so every 30-40 seconds it failed) and had the vocals fail out on cue.

Make sure the song you do this on will have 1.5 bars of starpower, as you need half a bar to save. Most songs have this, so just pick whatever you want to play.

I would also say there is no "best" song for this achievement, so long as the song has at least 6 star power phrases/riffs and you enjoy it. You will get the achievement the moment you get the third save.

I did this on "Charlene (I'm Right Behind You)" on guitar with a vocalist and a bassist. Have the vocalist fail out first and save him, then after you build up more overdrive, have the bassist fail out and save him. Lastly, have the bassist fail out again and save him. With most RB2 achievements, it will unlock after the song is completed.

Worked great! Although you may want to tell people to "save him" instead of "shave him". :)

Best way for me was have you play guitar on Charlene on expert. Then have a bass, drums, and vocals all on easy. All 3 will fail at the same time and you only have to use 1 star power to save all 3. They won't fail anymore

* As stated in comments, hard mode can be used also.

If you have 2 people this is a bit easier. Don't even need 3 really. I did this with me on bass, my brother on guitar, and nobody on vocals (put a "player" on vocals but nobody was actually singing into the microphone.) "The Trees" is perfect for this, because the vocalist will fail out exactly twice if nobody's there singing (the middle of the song is just percussion notes on the vocals, and won't fail out). I got enough star power on bass just in time to rescue the non-existant vocalist; when my meter was full enough my brother failed on purpose so I could rescue him, then I rescued the vocalist yet again when "he" failed the second time. The vocalist will not fail out in the time that's left in the song from that point.

Look this cheevo is easily done alone, but only if you have the peripherals.

Hook up drums on easy cause you can play the bass pedal while playing the guitar and the bass pedal and red notes are the most important in not failing for a drummer.

Hook up your mic to a controller and now you can play the guitar and sing no problem.

Now play the guitar on whatever difficulty, but if you can manage the higher difficulties it'll be less boring.

Fail out your other two pieces of equipment in whatever order you choose until you've saved one of them twice and the other once, then just finish the song and you'll unlock the cheevo.

Play on easy for the ones you're looking to fail. A good song to choose is Nine in the Afternoon because the drums are ez-mode on that song. So you shouldnt have a problem humming and keeping your kit alive until you get overdrive.

It's best to have each instrument, with at least 1 gutar, charge your energy to full, have the drummer fail, save him, and you shoud have half energy. Then have the vocalist fail, same him/her, then charge up halfway and have the drummer fail. Save him/her them at the end of the song you will get this achievement.

Play Charlene (I'm Right Behind You) on lead guitar and have a drum set on HARD and a vocalist on MEDIUM, gain half overdrive (enough to save someone) and let the vocalist and drummer fail at the same time, if you save them both with 1 shot of overdrive, then it counts as 2 saves. Then you just have to have 1 of them fail again then complete the song.

You can use 3 people for this trophy or you can do it by yourself. When doing it with 3 people have one guy fail out when you have your overdrive half full. Then when you get your overdrive half full again have that same guy fail out again and save him again. Once you get your overdrive half full for the third time have the other player in your band (the one who hasn't failed) to fail and save him and you got it. Alternatively you can do it by yourself if put in drums and vocals on easy and you play hard guitar and play the song Hello There by Cheap Trick. Just play your guitar and get the overdrive and the drums and vocals should start failing. Just keep saving them and you will beat the song and get the trophy without even touching the drums and vocals. Make sure you get all the overdrive while your playing your guitar though if you miss an overdrive just restart.

You need at least 3 people in your band for this. Just get your overdrive halfway, tell one member to fail, save them. Have on member fail twice, then the other one fail once. Since if you fail three times, you can't be saved. If you have no one to do it with, you can plug in drums, the guitar and vocals at the same time on one box. Load up quickplay on Blitzkrieg Bop [or Hello There if you have not exported songs]. Play hard guitar and leave your drums and microphone to sit there, both on easy. You will be able to save your band mates twice each if you can get all the phases and you wont fail out. You dont need other this way. -Thanks to Maka.

To get this trophy you need a team of three players. Just charge your overdrive, tell the other player to fail, save him. Repeat the process three times. Please note that one player can make no more than three mistakes during the composition.
