Complete 25 Challenges on Expert Difficulty

How to unlock the Challenge Savant achievement in Rock Band 2 - Definitive Guide

If you're having trouble because you aren't the best at Expert, you can essentially cheat the system.

You only have to complete the last song of the setlist on Expert, the rest of the songs can be completed on Easy/Medium/Hard.

Some sets have songs such as Shackler's Revenge or Panic Attack which are very difficult placed in the middle of them. As long as they aren't the last song, you can play them on any difficulty.

When the last song of the setlist starts, pause, save progress, and re-enter the last song on expert. The game will count the setlist as being only one song long, meaning you completed the entire thing on expert.

This will enable you to get around harder songs by playing on easier settings, or to relax if you are posed with a 10+ song setlist and are still struggling on Expert.

EXAMPLE: You have a 6-song challenge, you can play the first 5 songs on Medium, and play the last song on Expert, and it will count as you completing the challenge on Expert and you will receive the 'X' rating above the challenge.

I tried this and it didnt work.I did all songs on medium before the last one and saved and quit and then i did some other challenges and went through medium on all songs again before the last one and saved and quit. Then I went back to all challenges that needed the expert run and I passed them and I didnt get the achievement.

I got this achievement when completing my 25th challenge. The 25th one was on expert as were at least 17 others. The challenge that gives "Animal" was not beaten on expert (but likely medium). Not sure why this popped for me, but I was both disappointed and satisfied at the same time. So, I think, it would work if you beat 24 on something other than expert and then beat your 25th one on expert.

the easiest challenges will depend on how much you have in the way of DLC and imports.

Basically, if you have three songs by a band / from a track pack / from an import etc. playable in RB2, you'll get a challenge for it, so the best way to get short & easy challenges would be make sure you only have three songs each by Nirvana / Blondie / whoever.

just wanted to comment on this...definitely works...but it MUST be the first time attempting a challenge. so hopefully you found out about this trick prior to starting any of the challenges. best to make use of this trick as much as possible.

for instance if you play through an entire challenge on medium, then this trick won't work. you'll have to go back and play the WHOLE setlist in expert. I've used this trick for most of the 25 expert lists that I've completed.

Another 'trick'...if you're having trouble with the end song on expert, try switching to bass. there were two 60's playlists next to each other that were identical (spirit in the sky and pinball wizard). I couldn't get by pinball wizard on expert...tried it on bass and it was extremely easy. When you quit and save progress, and then go back in...you can switch from guitar to bass...heck, if you back out of the challenge area (sign out your profile and sign back in with another instrument (drums or vocals) you can even go back and finish the challenge with that instrument (assuming it's not an instrument specific challenge)

How hard are the hardest songs on this? Compared to green grass and high tides from RB1 and raining blood from GH3, which are harder? I only ask because I'd rather just do them all on expert but don't want to be stuck on one over and over again...

Along with the above guide, if you are having trouble with this challenge, I'd recommend downloading several easy songs off of the Rock Band store (I don't think Rock Band Network songs can be used in challenges.)

The more downloaded songs you have, the more challenges the game creates for you. For example, download all the Weezer songs and the game will create a Weezer challenge for you.

This can help you get a few extra easy challenges to get you over that 25 marker.

I would like to add to the before mentioned - if you are playing on guitar in the non specific instrument challenges and you are having trouble you can swap to bass and still get credit for the Expert completion.

This is difficult but there is sort of a workaround. When you are playing a challenge, you can play on any difficulty as long as you quit and save progress from the pause menu during the last song. When you return, you select your difficulty and this time select Expert. This will count as you completing the challenge on Expert. Obviously you need to at least be able to do that song, but at least you can take a break or try on a different instrument if you’re struggling.

One thing I haven’t seen mentioned enough by others when I’ve looked this up is that once you have completed a challenge you can no longer quit and save progress. So if you’re already deep in your tour career, it’s probably easier to start a new band and just focus on challenges this way.

My advice is to do as many challenges as possible on whatever difficulty you’re comfortable with, then save and back out on the final song. Then you can just come back to each one when you’re able to do the last song on Expert.

For these achievements, you just have to beat the amount of challenges listed on the said difficulty. Keep in mind that you are binded by the lowest difficulty, so if one person is on easy, and the rest are on expert, you only get credit for easy. On top of a completed challenge, you will see an E for easy, M for medium, H for hard and X for expert.

Same as Challenge Novice except beat 25 challenges on expert. This is easiest done on the lowest tiers of the challenge screen so beat your way from the bottom of the challenge screen to the top until you get the trophy.

You just need to complete twenty-five "challenges" on Expert difficulty. Remember, as with all other trophies - the difficulty level will correspond to the lowest level in the team. So if someone is playing on easy, you will only get the trophy for easy. For the easiest way to get this trophy during the “challenge”, always use the instrument that you are best at playing.
