Much quicker method is after hitting World Tour hit start new band and make its hometown boston. the first gig you play will be in boston and then achievement unlocked.

To unlock the East Coast Performer trophy in Rock Band 2 you need to complete a full set list at any venue on the East Coast of North America. Boston, Montreal and New York venues count towards unlocking this trophy.
