How to unlock the Flawless Guitar Solo achievement in Rock Band 2 - Definitive Guide

For those who are expertly challenged, getting through most of these songs to the end is more of a problem than the actual solo. Thankfully there is a way to get round it.

Simply set up a score duel player match with a friend, use whichever song you feel is best (I prefer "Give It Away" by Red Hot Chili Peppers), then play it through on expert.

As its a score duel you can't fail out, so just prepare for the solo, remember to use the 'solo' buttons not the normal ones and DON'T strum (like I did first time ;( ).

I just used this solution (which is very good) and wanted to add something. I believe the solo has to actually be perfect (no overstrumming, for example). I did this 3 times and must have hit an extra solo button because it would not unlock. Also, I did not hit any other notes the whole song other than the solo.

Are you using the 'solo' buttons and remember NOT to strum?

If you are in no-fail mode, you can't unlock this achievement. You can change it from the extras menu.

I just got this today thanks for this solution, also you can use local MP to get this by yourself. Also you might want to note that the achievement doesn't unlock until after the song plays during the score screen.

To state the obvious: You'll need either the Stratocaster from Rock Band 1 or the new one from Rock Band 2 to even get this achievement.

If you export Rock Band 1 songs into Rock Band 2, this solution will be helpful. If not, then I'm sorry. Anyway, one of the songs in Rock Band 1 you can transfer over is "Wave of Multilation." It has a pretty easy guitar solo, consisting of mostly orange notes (multiple oranges, like three blue-orange chords).
Considering you don't have to move your hand around much, this solo will be super-easy. If you aren't familiar with the songs layout, try it out in practice (there isn't a specific solo section to choose while in practice mode, since it's pretty short).

"Wave of Mutilation" worked for me. Thanks!

Orange Crush is easier than Wave of Mutilation if you can survive and has a break to change hands if you're bad with the solo buttons.

"Orange Crush" is almost too easy. Got it on my first try for this achievement. Thanks for the guide!

you should add to your solution that you cannot strum in the solo to get it!!!!!

Definitely add IDUKE's comment to the solution. It doesn't state that you can't strum. As soon as I didn't, pop goes the cheevo.

I'd say the simplest solo to use for this achievement would be "Give It Away" by Red Hot Chili Peppers. About a minute into the song, a solo comes that simply goes slowly up from green to orange, goes to blue, then orange, and then all the way back down. It's a lot easier than it sounds over the Internet, and only took me two attempts (I don't play the song much), so it's a big candidate if you can't move your hand much (considering you can make it through the end of the song.) Try it, and say hi to your new Flawless RB2 Achievement.

by far the easiest song to do it on. I can hardly play expert and I did this song after only a few attempts. even if you're not good at expert guitar, you probably can make it through this song like I did...if you're having trouble finishing the song, have a friend with you that can save you

This worked great for me as well. Just a heads up you only need to get 100% on one of the solos in "Give It Away" so don't worry about screwing up during the second one towards the ends.

I did this just a minute ago. Very handy having a solo so early on. It's the main reason I went for this one over So What by Pink.

Maybe you need to mention that you don't have to strum for those who don't understand that it has to be done using ONLY the solo button. Anyway it worked perfectly for me, thank's!

If you purchased any of the Red Hot Chili Peppers content, The Power of Equality has by far the easiest solo to do this on.

Its only 3 buttons (the middle), towards the end of the song.

Remember - do not strum! You cannot earn the achievement by strumming. You can only tap.

If you exported your RB1 songs to RB2 then the easiest song on there, for this achievement, by far would have to be "Orange Crush" By R.E.M. it only has 16 sustained notes, but you only have to press at the beginning, let go and prepare for the next note. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO HOLD TO GET THE FULL COMBO, JUST HIT THE BEGINNING. If you mess up start the song over, it's in the first solo.

The easiest song to do this on is You Oughta Know by Alanis Morissette. If switching from the top of the neck to the bottom buttons is hard for you, do the whole song with the solo buttons.

If you export Lego Rock Band tracks into RB2, you'll also find the guitar solo in "Swing Swing" to be exceptionally easy.

Easiest solo on the RB2 disc is probably the one in "You Oughtta Know."

If you have imported Lego Rock Band then try Pink-So What. The solo is extremely easy.

Out of songs actually on the disc, I'd have to say that "You Oughta Know" is ridiculously easy to do this with as well. The solo's short, and mostly consists of blue-orange hammer-ons, and a few red-orange chords. Just don't play the repeated yellow-orange chords leading up to the solo to get your hands in position. It's easiest to do the blue with your fret hand and the orange with your strum hand; you can do the red with your fret hand as well.

You can also do this achievement with all of The Beatles Rock Band guitars and i did it with the Hofner bass on "Wave of Mutilation"

I can personally confirm that this achievement is possible to obtain using the Rock Band 3 wireless guitar, as opposed to the RB1 wired guitar, RB2 wireless guitar, and the special edition Beatles controllers (bass and guitar).

What does this mean? You can use the guitar found in the bundle below to unlock the achievement.

http://www.amazon.com/Mad-Catz-Rock-Band-Guitar-Bundle/dp/B0...

They can be found for cheaper prices on eBay; I bought mine for $70.

Im not sure if its just my guitar as i bought it use, but pressing the solo buttons is a pain, because for my guitar at-least. I have to press them like im trying to break them, just for them to register.
If you have this problem, id suggest two hands, left hand on all 4 standard buttons, and your strum hand on the orange.

Id suggest "Give it away" as the first solo is simple.
When you hear "Bob Marly" get set up for red and wait.

Don't strum only click it, similar to the hammer-ons.

I can confirm this can be done in local score duel with two guitars.
Good luck.

While playing as the guitarist you will notice on most songs you play a solo. The solo turns the note background blue and you get a percentage of how many notes you hit in the solo. You need to play on expert and get a solo 100% while using the solo buttons which are the small buttons on the bottom of the neck of the guitar and close to the strum bar. When using these buttons during a solo you don't have to strum no matter what. It doesn't matter if its a hammer on or regular note during a solo while using these buttons you don't have to strum. For this trophy you must use the buttons and you cannot strum. The easiest solo to do it on is Give it Away by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Here's a video.
Credit to FLG-3teRn4l-HaZe for the video.

Another general tip for this trophy is to try to get your fingers set on the solo buttons before the solo actually starts. It's alright if you miss some notes before the solo, just hit all of them in the solo.

Another song to try is Spirit in the Sky. I lost my save in this game and went back to get this achievement only to find out I had a dozen songs available. This song has 2 solos. While the first is easier than the second, my first try I got 100% on the first and 98% on the second and it popped. Its not the "easiest" solo, but its definitely not difficult at all.

Here's an achievement alot of people were upset about because you need to have the Rock Band Fender Stratocaster guitar. Not the new one, the old one works fine too. You have to 100% a solo on Expert only tapping on the solo butons, no strumming. A solo is when you are playing lead guitar, and your screen goes blue and a percentage comes up, saying what percent of notes you have hit in that solo. The easiest song I've found is Give it Away by RHCP. The rest of the song is mildly difficult, but the starting solo only has 25 notes, all sustained notes, and only one hammer on. You can also try The Kids in America by The Muffs, very easy solo. Another easy one is Go Your Own Way's first solo. It mostly just has ascending notes, then goes back down. If not, try Today by the Smashing Pumpkins. It's mostly just the blue note then hammer on to orange and back to blue. Just watch the ending and you should be fine. The easiest from Rock band 1 is Wave of Mutilation. -Thanks to FAFUNLEASHED for the vid.

For this trophy you need a Rock Band Fender Stratocaster guitar, first or second doesn't matter. You need to cash in on the solo buttons (small buttons) and not strum. You will need to press these buttons when the notes reach the line. The easiest way to get this trophy is on "Give it Away" by RHCP. The composition itself is quite complex, but its initial solo part has only 25 simple notes and only one ascending legato.
